Penang Island Discovery Morning Tour

Penang, Malaysia

Explore Penang the 'Pearl of the Orient' from its sandy shores to the quaint countryside. Visit a traditional Batik Factory, Snake Temple, International jewelry factory and a Malay Kampung (village). A great way to experience Penang in a nutshell!

You'll be picked up from your Penang hotel and taken to a Batik Factory to experience the traditional technique of batik printing using wax and dyes.

Learn about the rubber tapping, spices and local Penang fruits on this discovery tour.

Tour continues to a Malay Kampung, an old style Malaysian village, where you will have the chance to mingle with the locals. Visit the legendary Snake Temple, where green Pit Vipers adorn the altars.

Observe the art of jewelery making at the OE Design, an international jewelry factory located at the Free Trade Zone. See how gold, platinum and gemstones are put together into a fine piece of jewelry.

View the 3rd longest bridge in the world which links the Penang Island to the mainland and journey through historic Georgetown before returning to your hotel.

We booked this tour on a weekend day thinking we could visit the Butterfly Farm instead of the jewelry factory as per tour description on the web page. Were a bit disappointed when informed that the tour no longer visits the Butterfly Farm even on weekends.Apart from that, very pleasant tour overall : pick up on time, very friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide and driver, comfortable bus, great group etc... The tour tends to be on the "commercial" side though.

My first time using aviator. It was a hassle to start. It was good I had a hotel staff call for confirmation. Our booking was unheard of, so she has to fax our prepaid ticket/voucher. Had to wait for hours to get a confirmation for our next day tour. Was really disappointing considering it was prepaid weeks earlier. We could have wasted our day waiting for nothing without confirming first. It should have been hassle free.

An enjoyable tour, made even better by David, the tour guide. The snake temple suprised me, there were far less snakes than when I last visited in 1965!! It was a very pleasant morning's tour. The Batik factory was an eye opener, for the hard work involved in making the designs. It was interesting to see the Malay village, when one sees all the development with high rise accomodation on the Island now.

It was the greatest tour ever booked! The tour guide we had was excellent! He's really knowledgeable and courteous. He even dropped us off at a destination easier and cheaper for us to take a cab to our next destination. Best of all, he offered to drop our shopping off at our hotel so we don't need to carry them all around which makes it so much easier for us! He's by far the best tour guide we have ever met. Thanks so much to him..._br/_ As for the tour, it's exactly like what is described on the web, but with more perks!!! Everyone should go for this tour to better know Penang like a local! Definitely a 6 stars tour! Cheers...:)

We were picked up from our hotel on time and taken to a meeting point were we joined the rest of the tour. We were only 2 familes on the tour travelling in a coach. This gave a very private tour feel as we saw other tours having their buses cramped. The tour was amazing, took 5 hours from start to finish, and gave an excellent tour of Penang, including the snake temple, a jewellery factory, a malaysian style village, and getting some great views on the way.

Interesting trip to batik factory something new. A small shop showing rubber tapping, spices & fruits, a bit disappointing. Visit to malay kampong with nobody around for you to mingle. Snake temple got to pay for entrance fee just to see the different species but nobody is there to explain so got to walk around yourself. Interesting tour to jewellery factory but everything is expensive. Didn't stop to see the penang bridge just drive pass so didn't manage to take a picture of this 3rd longest bridge in the world.

The tour was very good and covered some very interesting places on Penang Island. The snake temple is a must and make sure that you get your picture taken with the snakes. Tour guide was very informative and answered all questions. Definitely a good tour to start our stay with giving you a feel for what the island has to offer.

The trip around the circumference of the island was a great way to get a sense of where things were in Penang. We wondered why we were taken to a very expensive German owned jewellery factory but realised later this is what wealthy Arabs like to see! We would have preferred a local silversmith, with affordable items.

This was worth doing and good value for money. Our guide was very informative and spoke excellent English and our driver was very good. The places we went were interesting and gave us a good feel for the Island and the culture. I think there should at least be a late morning tea stop as we didn't arrive back until after 2pm and we werent allowed any food on the bus.

The tour was scheduled to last 3 hours and it actualy lasted nearer 5 so it was great value for money. We saw a lot of the island that morning and gave us a basic tour we could then go on and do ourselves. We had a very good guide who was very knowledgeable and never rushed the tour along.

I usually do not do package tours, but was pleasantly surprised with this tour company. Kudos to our guide, he was a fantastic tour guide who barely left a pause in his dialogue. This was a really nice, informative round-the-island tour. Yes, of course there were touristy stops where shopping was encouraged, but we didn't feel any pressure to make purchases. My only suggestion would be to skip the duty-free jewelery stop towards the end. The Batik Making and Rubber Tree taping were really nice to see as were the demonstration of all the different locally grown spices.

This is a useful introductory tour allowing you to see quickly some key places in Penang. Actually, Batik Factory might be replaced by Sleeping Buddha and Penang Bridge could be shown better! Not on the road but from a good viewing point!

Was very enjoyable. A good tour to do if you don't have much time. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I had to pay RM5 to get into the animal enclosure at the snake temple. This was not mentioned when booking the tour. Jewellery factory is interesting but very expensive to buy anything.
