Margaret River, Caves, Wine and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse Tour from Perth

Perth, Australia

Discover the natural beauty and charm of the south west on this full day tour of Margaret River including the Busselton Jetty and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. Sample the produce of the local artisans, be amazed at the grandeur of the Karri forests and see where the the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. This is a perfect introduction to the Southwest for those short on time.

Your tour starts early this morning as you board the coach leaving the city and suburbs behind and you head south west towards Margaret River (approximately three hours) passing through small picturesque towns and farming communities, with plenty of stops for “leg stretching” along the way.

The first stop is Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere, stretching 1.8 kilometers outwards into Geographe Bay before traveling to Margaret River. What was formerly a hippie and surfing community, Margaret River has grown up over the years and has become one of the leading producers of premium quality wines, cheeses, and fresh produce in the region, whilst still retaining it's laid back surfing charm. Wander through the town and meet the locals, before having lunch the Lake Cave Tea Rooms and touring Mammoth Cave.

Afterward the tour will head to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse where you can see the meeting point of the Indian and Southern oceans. There is plenty of wildlife to see including rock parrots, sea lions and dolphins. Take a walk along the heritage trail and soak up the atmosphere and beauty of the area.

The last stop of the day, you will travel through the beautiful Boranup Forest and visit to a local winery, where you will learn the difference between a Chardonnay and a Shiraz and get to taste a selection of wines from the cellar door, before returning back to Perth around 9.30pm.

Great wine tasting visit (best we've ever been on) packed lunch by tour operator in woods was excellent and the view of the two Ocean's by the lighthouse was magnificent. Great trip!

Excellent day, very long but more than worth it, well organised and timed despite distances involved.

A little too rush at the stopovers._br/_ The guide(Bob) is not friendly and didn't introduce much along the journey compare the trips I had previously. Fortunately the itinerary is fantastic.

Once again this tour wasn't all it was advertised to be. Margaret River was trouted as a main attraction, but we arrived there late afternoon and shops were closed and there was nothing for us to do. We were left there by ourselves for half an hour to explore - explore what? The evening meal stop at our own expence was a distaster. Everyone complained. Don't think we'll be booking any more tours through you. What you advertise is not what you get. Once again very dissapointed.

We had a very enjoyable day. Our coach driver, Grant, was very knowledgeable and friendly. My only advice to improve the day would have been to have had lunch at the winery we stopped at. Possibly, for an additional cost, it would have been better than the lunch provided at a kiosk.

The caves part of the tour was severely shortened, I feel I paid enough for this tour to get the entire tour of the caves -- they were interesting. The winery was a new one and wasn't very good at all -- which was a shame as the Margaret River winerys are supposed to be fabulous. The food was good -- what there was of it -- we were at the back of the line and the good stuff was pretty much gone. The PA system on the bus had a whine that was very annoying, so I was listening to my iPod very loudly to drown it out and didn't hear the commentary. Thankfully the driver turned it off for the 2-1/2 hour journey back to Perth CBD. All in all I don't recommend this tour.

Fantastic, certainly one of the very best all-day trips I have been on. Marvellous and intersting itinerary, very comfortable coach and an excellent driver (Grant) who kept us informed of all the interesting points along the way. A first class included picnic lunch and a superb evening dinner at a very modest additional cost at an escellent hotel.

The places were beautiful. It was a very long journey, but well worth it because all the places we dropped by were just captivating, especially the view at Busselton Jetty and at the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse. Lunch was a picnic affair, but well served and professionally conducted. My only regret is the limited time we had to spend at each venue due to time constraints. I would have liked more time to stop by and enjoy the surroundings instead of being rushed off every half an hour or so. But I do understand that the distance we covered was an amazing 300+ kilometers. I would sign up for the tour...again and again and again!

Excellent trip which was thoroughly enjoyed. The only hiccup was that we didn't get the pickup time in advance and were only just ready for it when they came. It seems that there may be a communication breakdown in advising us by email before the day.

This was just the best tour! We only had a small group on the bus so we were able to get on and off easily and got to see a few more things. We didn't realize how big the area was and how beautiful it is! The Eagles really were the highlight for me! We really had a great day and would happily do it again, and recommend it to others.

The tour guide was highly professional, caring and experienced. The Margaret River region was wonderful place to visit. Just a suggestion, winery tour to several more vineyards or cellars in the Margaret River Region could be themed for people with a passion for fine wines. Although the visits to cave and jetty may have to be compromised, it could provide an option for visitors with only a short stay in Perth.

This is a great tour to do if your time is limited, and you only have a day to see Margaret River. The rugged coastline around Cape Leeuwin is stunning. Mammoth Cave is very beautiful, although the cave tour was a little short for my liking it would have been nice to spend another 10 or 15 minutes there. Had a nice stroll along the jetty at Busselton and watched the sunset over the bay.

An amazing collection of sights! Do not believe it, however, when they tell you that you need to order food ahead for Busselton or you will not get served. This is just a ploy for the driver to get a free meal! There are actually several evening eating options in lovely Busselton.

While we are going to the Margaret River, no one told me exactly which river we passed was the Margaret River. There were too many hotel pick-up and drop-off resulted in us arriving at the hotel at 10.30pm.
