Wave Rock, York, Wildflowers and Aboriginal Cultural Tour from Perth

Perth, Australia

A journey through the Western Australian wheatbelt region to Wave Rock, truly one of Australia's most incredible natural monuments. During the day visit the historic township of York and view other significant historical and geological attractions of the area.

Heading east enjoy morning tea (own expense) at historic York, the first township founded in the Avon Valley. Visit the Dog Cemetery before arriving in Hyden. You will then visit Hippo's Yawn, a rock formation which resembles a hippo yawning. Break for a picnic lunch at the Wildflower Shop. See the spectacle of Wave Rock and the ancient Gnamma Holes. Whilst here visit either a Wildlife Park or view a unique Antique Lace Collection.

Leaving Wave Rock visit The Humps and finally Mulka's Cave. Return to Perth via a different route and stop at the quaint country town of Babakin for afternoon tea (own expense). Arrive in Perth at approximately 8:30pm.

Wildflower viewing stops made (September - November).

Loved the trip, very interesting and good information from the driver. Not enough time to see York or to get anything to eat, we had a take out drink with just enough time to walk up the main street. The lunch food was very good but was cleared away too quickly, again not enough time. The afternoon tea was very good and all the places visited were excellent. It was a very enjoyable trip but would have liked more time in York and possibly less opportunities to view the Olgas from different vantage points.

My Wife And I found the tour very disappointing. We did not see the Lace collection or Wildlife park; other people expressed their disappointment also. We have traveled on Viator tours on several occasions and all have been good but sorry not this one.

A good day out, we saw a variety of sights in addition to the impressive Wave Rock. Lunch and tea were both excellent. Beautiful scenery everywhere. Our driver ran the tour very well.

Was cool to tick wave rock off my itinerary but there's not a lot to do and it takes you all day long to literally just see a rock. Great tour guide and the stop to the small housecafe for excellent home cooked treats were A-1. Enjoyed the tour.

We really enjoyed this tour! We climbed the rock in the rain and still had a really good view. Pity there weren't a lot of wildflowers out to see, but I will come back to see them. The Aboriginal paintings were really good to see, most of the ones we have seen have been enclosed in glass and you can't get good photos. The bus was comfortable and the lunch was great value!

The bus was a good size and very comfortable. The driver was fun and interesting. As for wildflowers, not alot. And not really a aboriginal culture tour. Just shown the hand paintings on the cave walls. It would have been great if an elder or tribe person had been there to tell the tales and show us thing that are important to them. Then the kids would have enjoyed it more. Needed more time in York. Best sausage rolls ever tasted in the corner cafe. Homemade. But we had a great day overall and dropped off at the door.

There needs to be a watering hole stop right after Wave Rock! It is really hot and sweaty out there. While the bus does have water, I needed some juice or Gatorade and those things are sure not easy to find way out in the western Australian wheat belt!

Wave Rock is really a wonderful place, and worth going to. However, the traveling time is quite long from Perth to Wave Rock, it takes around eight hours for the round trip. At that time, we choose the picnic lunch, which was not bad. Of course, a lobster lunch seems so delicious. It is worth going there if you have time to stay in Perth.
