Kutna Hora Day Trip from Prague

Prague, Czech Republic

Visit Kutna Hora, an old mining town founded in the 13th century and famous for its silver mines, on this guided coach trip from Prague.

During the Middle Ages, profits from the Kutna Hora silver mines brought fame to the lands of the Czech Crown, and Kutna Hora became the richest and most powerful town.

Admire the Gothic St. Barbara's Cathedral with its valuable murals and the former royal mint which once produced so-called Prague groschen and gold ducats. To date Kutna Hora has retained the character of a medieval city and rightly belongs to the most important UNESCO heritage sites in the Czech Republic.

Great day trip. We were a bit concerned when we arrived at the kiosk as no one was there when we were told to arrive. The kiosk didn't have the viator name on it so we were unsure if we were in the correct place. The tour guide as very knowledgeable and made sure we felt comfortable.

I am forced to give this tour a 1 star since there is no option of giving a -0 start to it! Kutna Hora is a Wonderful place, but the tour was a horrible experince. We had specially requested hotel pick up and drop off and confirmed these two days in advance. When we arrived in Prague we had the hotel people call the agency to confirm the pick up and drop off. All together we had confirmed with the travel agency three times that we would be picked up and dropped off from our hotel. The pick up was 20 minutes late and the guide refused to drop us off at the hotel in the evening! She dropped us at some place in the city square and we had no clue how to get back to our hotel and we begged her to use her phone and talk to her office or the hotel people to verify that we had arranged for a drop off. She was extremely rude and practically told us to get lost. She said and I quote, "I don't care what arrangement you made. I do not work for the hotel and I will not talk to my office. I cannot drop you to the hotel. You can complain all you want. I don't care". She left us stranded in the cold and rain. We did not know the local language and had no clue how to get back. It took us more than an hour to get back to the hotel that normally takes 15 minutes. this trip was a nightmare. I cannot believe that a company like Viator, to which we are so loyal for so many years, could have such a lousy tour.

Absolutely wonderful day trip - our guide was really knowledgeable and gave the whole trip that extra spark! Stopped at some very interesting sites! Would certainly recommend!

It was a lovely little tour that could have allowed for more time and information at the Bone Church...was also a little disappointed that more time wasn't spent in the city itself...other than those two things the tour was still worth going on.

Thank you Viator for organizing the wonderful tour to Kutna Hora. I took the tour on October 15, and to my surprise I was the only one shown up the day. But, the tour was not canceled and I had very wonderful time. The tour guide spook very good English and he was very knowledgeable and kind person. The driver was very nice man, too. Over all I had an excellent trip and I recommend the tour to everyone !!

As usual the guide was superb and interesting. Spoke many languages. The sites themselves were nice and interesting but not all angles of the the cathedral could be seen because of ongoing construction. The tour included the very unusual Sedlec ossuary [Kostnice] ; )

Well worth the time and money. My sister and I had been wanting to visit the Ossuary since our previous visit to Prague in 2008. We were concerned about the 5 hour duration but it was more than ample time to visit the Ossuary as well as the former Mint and the Cathedral at Santa Barbera. Our tour guide was well informed and we would gladly recommend this tour for anyone wishing to visit this UNESCO location.

this was an interesting trip. the guide was quite good but it was exhausting listening to commentary in 2 languages. the groups should cater to one language at a time. we were told to stay at a coffee shop towards the end without being given the time frame and therefore did not have time to walk around the village itself

Very interesting trip. The guide was fabulous. He gave each of us a booklet he had typed out in our own language because he said we might not remember all that he had told us. Very professional and well worth the money. I would have liked a little free time in Kutna Hora but it was still very worthwhile.

Our guide was very knowledgeable of the sights we saw and spoke English (and Russian, and Italian) very well. The ossuary, St. Barbara's and the coin museum were all fascinating. My only complaint is that I would have liked time for independent activity and shopping.

ItThe bone church was interesting. Would have liked some free time to walk around the city rather than always with the tour guide. Tour of Mint seemed an add on and not a worthwhile part of the tour.

It was all right. They said the trip was going to be in English but the tour guide didn't speak much English. Just wish we were given more information on what we were going to be doing and about the places we were going to.

The guide was ill-informed, spoke very little English, and provided no information during the bus trip. Once we arrived at the sites she read very quickly and in a thick accent from a prepared page. Really we could have caught local transport form Prague and enjoyed it very much more. We lost two tour members who had given up in disgust and gone shopping, so we were several hours late back to Prague. Really woth a visit but book a reputable company in Prague or catch the train and shuttle bus aroud the three sites.

The main reason my girlfriend and I took this trip was to see the Chapel of Bones, which is definitely worth seeing. Anything else we were going to see in Kutna Hora we classed as a bonus. Sadly, the time we spent at the Chapel of Bones was literally ten minutes, even less for me as I needed the toilet after the bus journey. It was the type of place you wanted to spend a half hour at least, although it's not very big it's the type of place you want to soak in your surroundings. After that we were taken to the main church in Kutna where out tour guide explained things in his passable English but didn't really seem too bothered. Finally we didn't really get to see much of the town, which was a disappointment because it looked really interesting. We followed the guide down one street and were then given to another tour guide whose English was barely comprehensible - but you expect to be able to understand the guide at least. The final part of the tour was made worse by the fact that we spent nearly an hour learning about how coins were made in the 13th century. A topic which I'm sure some people will find interesting, but personally I found it a bit boring and the fact we spent ages there compared to the Chapel of Bones. I would recommend, especially anyone around my age 25, renting a car for the day and driving yourself there and taking your time. It's pretty easy to drive there from Prague and I imagine it would only cost a bit more. Shame really because we've had really positive experiences through Viator previously.

We enjoyed the tour very much. It is just long enough to visit each place, Ossuary, Palace and church in Kutna Hora without getting bored. Only suggestion for others is to bring a snack if you haven't eaten lunch before you go. There isn't time to built in for a food stop although we did stop for a beverage for 20 minutes. We would recommend this tour if you like short but sweet tours!

The guide did a good job. It was easy to find the meeting place. We were only given 15 minutes in the ossuary, and that wasn't enough for most of us. Felt rushed. The cathedral was nice. The museum was decent and walking around was nice. There was only one announced bathroom break at the end which I didn't wait for (I just left the group momentarily) which was a little long to not give people the option to go to bathroom. Bring a snack, there was no option to get anything and I was starving by the end.

A very interesting tour that was well organized. We saw and learned about interesting things. The guide was very good. She explained everything to us together. The bus was very good. The only negative thing is that it cost us more money through Viator than booking it at the spot. Viator should also offer student tickets.

The ossuary was amazing and that was the main point of interest for us initially. However, it turned out that the visits to the cathedral and former mint plus the drive through the country side there and back were fascinating too. It helped that our guide was witty, thoughtful and an absolute expert too. Highly recommended.
