._br/_ I really don't know why this tour is so highly rated on Viator, we went on three other excursions – this was the worst one. _br/_ Our trip was rescheduled (seems to be common) to a day earlier on 03/22/2012 and it was the coldest rainiest day of our week-long trip. Cold dripping water from the ceiling made the truck ride extremely uncomfortable – we got soaked. Because it was raining 1) we could not cross the river, and 2) the school was closed and when we went to another school, it also had closed early. Our tour guide said he gave the supplies we brought to the Principal – I just hope the kids got them. The lunch was also mediocre._br/_ The one nice part of the excursion is driving through the working class area of Sosua. It's really neat to see and the children wave as you drive by. The house/farm we visited in Sosua was also interesting._br/_ This trip would be okay if the weather is decent, but I believe Management should have given us the opportunity to reschedule or get a refund especially because we did not get a chance to go on parts of the tour that were advertised. Management said they would only cancel the trip for a HURRICANE WARNING. Really??_br/_ Even at a discounted price, this trip is certainly not worth US$78 + tax. If you're in Puerto Plata, I recommend you save your money for any of the three excursions mentioned above or maybe even a trip to Sosua._br/_ Overall: Don't take a chance - if the weather is bad (don’t forget they may reschedule your trip to any day) this excursion is horrible.

This was an amazing tour. I would recommend this tour. It is a must see and do when you visit Puerto Plata. The pick up and drop off went great, everything went on time. The tour guide was great. He was very friendly and informative. He spoke english very well and joked around with everyone. The sights that you see are amazing. Being able to see the underside of the Dominican, away from the prettiness of the resorts and see the way people actually live here was very eye opening. If you are travelling with children I recommend you take them on this tour. It will give them a sense of what they have and how they live compared to the Dominican children. I recommend that you bring along bags of hard candies to throw out to all the smiling happy, waving children that run out along the edge of the road when they hear the truck coming. I bought these at the $ store at home and brought them with me. You should also bring along some school supplies to donate to the Dominican school that you stop at. The lunch included in the tour is pretty good, it is a buffet lunch served at the river. I would not suggest going swimming in the river but it is a really nice place with lots of picture opportunities and nice views. On the way back you will stop at a gift /souvineir shop so bring along some money. Drinks are also included in the tour, rum, beer, pop and water. The tour guide and bartender are very good with the drinks. Overall I thought the tour was great. From start to finish it is never a dull moment. Everything you see and do is wonderful. GREAT TOUR

We had the most awesome time on the Monster Truck Tour! The guides were fluent in many languages so everyone could understand what they told us.Saw an amazing amount of the beautiful countryside/local people/lifestyle/country school, and the rum flowed the whole trip! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see more than just another resort and beach in a nice sunny climate. Get out there and take a look at the real Dominican! 5 * for sure!

Long day and really didn't learn much about the country. Tour guide gave little information as we traveled. Truck very loud making it difficlt to hear. Visit to see "the wizard" was obviously staged. Felt the cock fight was inapproriate. Not worth the time and money.

Although we had a lot of fun, the excursion was handled in a very unprofessional way. We did not do half the things described on the website when we signed up. The "tour guide" was sort of silly in an uncomfortable way. He must have made reference to "Poo poo and Pee pee" a half dozen times. Also seemed to enjoy farting noises. Really? For $90 apiece? It was because of the people I was with that we had fun.

I had a good time on the Monster Truck Safari. It was informational and interesting. The only event that was the least interesting or entertaining was the visit to a "Voodoo Priest". That could have been omitted.

If I could give this 100 stars it would not be enough! The safari itself is fantastic, went to some great places, met some great people and had some fantastic experiences; it was a real eye opener. What made it even better - the guide we had; a guy called Gregory. He was my favorite person of the entire holiday and my family all had the same opinion. He speaks god knows how many languages with ease and is full of interesting information. We learnt more about the Dominican in 1 day with him than in the other 14 days together. He is very funny and full of energy - everyone on the trip loved him and were still talking about him and the trip 4 days later!! The trip itself is great but if you go on it you have to go with this guy - he is a legend :-) He should be cloned and one of him should be on every trip there is. Brilliant!!!

honestly it was disappointing. To begin with, they pick you up in an unmarked van and the driver doesn't have paperwork with our names on it (this is dangerous for 2 ladies in a foreign country), although its called Safari, there are no animals whatsoever. There were stops made that I would have preferred not doing if I would have been told in advance such as visiting a Voodoo house (referred to as white magic), touring a home in the mountains (while the woman of the house looked disturbed) does not give you an idea of how the average Dominican lives. I think the tour needs more excitement and adventure.

One of the best excursions I've been on in the Caribbean. Our guide, Sammy, was great. Be prepared for a very long day and be sure to bring candy or school supplies for the kids at the school.

We had a fantastic experience! Thanks to our guide Gregory, he made the whole trip as comfortable and amusing as possible. He was attentive and most of all, knowledgeable. He spoke several languages and knew about the culture of the Dominican Republic. You will see small children all throughout the trip. With those you encounter, MAKE SURE you bring something to give to them for school use, or any other useful and handy household non-perishable materials i.e. pencils, eraser, sharpener, notebook, comb, soap, small hand held towels etc. to distribute here and there. Dress very comfortably as if though you're going hiking- comfortable loose clothes, shoes wgood soles no flip flops, and a hat. Also do bring a compact umbrella in the event of rain. Just be prepared to visit the Haitian Refugees at the latter portion of the tour. If you ignore them and leave your valuables at the hotel room in a safe, then you'll be just fine. You don't need to be flashy for this trip at all. It's a type of trip that everyone must be aware of living in the countryside and bringing your experiences back home to your families. It makes you think differently about life at home and display more appreciation about the way we live. A MUST SEEVISIT! Enjoy!!!

With 4 adults and 2 young children waiting for our monster truck we were quite disappointed to be picked up 45 minutes late in a beat up van that broke down while we were being transported about an hour to where the monster truck was awaiting. Conditions were very crowded, it was hot and we were loaded down with school supplies, flip flops and flashlights to hand out along the trip. Because we were late in starting, the safari skipped several stops. The tour guide and his staff were all very nice and friendly but, the trip just did not go well. If you wish to see the real Dominican Republic, it is a must do trip. I had already been on one similiar trip and am sorry to say this one was disappointing. The lunch was tasty, plenty of rum and coke to go around. If you do decide to take this trip, bring plenty of wrapped candy to throw to the Dominican children who line the road to wave at the tourists. They were darling! Be prepared to be mobbed at the Haiitan refugee area. We ended up tearing open packages of pencils, crayons, etc. to throw out, there were so many children. We finally asked our guide to sit the children down orderly and hand everything out, that worked much better. I hope this helps.

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Just wished we had been told we were going to meet Haiti refugees that the Dominican Republic had helped. They were so desperate for everything and anything and we were not prepared with anything much. A few of the girls so wanted my flip flops, their feet were just thick mud. It was so sad and I could have given plenty if I had known we were meeting them, so I just gave what I could from what I had with me.

The guide, Gregory, was very informative and spoke to us in languages we understood, Russian and English. He took time with your questions and was very understanding. We were impressed with his wit and ability to keep you entertained as well as laughing. I rated this 4 stars only because it rained most of the tour and the cover on the truck didn't do a good job. Maybe someone can design a better cover and extend it a little over the sides so the end people don't get a soaking and this would be rated 5 stars. Oh, and the driver and refreshment tender did an excellent job as well.

This was an interesting tour that gives you an idea of the real Dominican Republic. I highly recommend this one if you wish to go outside the resorts. Our tour guide was excellent. He speaks English, Spanish, and German! And they gave us as much soda, water, and rum and coke as we wanted! But I would not recommend this for the thrillseeker as it is a pretty quiet excursion.

Fabulous day...don't miss this amazing tour while in Punta Cana. Viator is the way to go when booking tours. We stayed at the Moon Palace and they did not offer this tour through the hotel, and what they did offer that was similar was more expensive. Pickup and drop-off at hotel was exactly on time. We saw things we never would have seen had we stayed on the resort for our whole vacation. The lunch could have been better, but that was really the only thing to complain about. Go, you won't regret it!

There is nothing better than getting a real taste of the countryside and city when you go on vacation. It is just a waste of a vacation if you are just going to sit around the resort or hotel and not get around and really find out what your vacation i.e. country has in store for you.
