Gulfoss and Geysir Express Half-Day Trip from Reykjavik

Reykjavik, Iceland

Take an afternoon tour from Reykjavik to experience geysers, waterfalls and some of the most exciting natural phenomena Iceland has to offer. In just six hours you'll visit the country's best known historical sites and natural wonders perfect if your time in Iceland is limited.

You will visit Thingvellir, where the Icelandic parliament Alpingi was established in 930. It is here in this geologically unique place that the slowly diverging tectonic plates of America and Europe meet. In 2004 Thingvellir was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The tour also takes you to the famous Gullfoss waterfall, the spouting hot spring of Geysir and Strokkur. Continuing your journey to Hveragerdi, a small but beautiful horticultural town, you will see how geothermal energy has been harnessed for the unique greenhouse cultivation of all kinds of vegetables, exotic fruit and flowers.

What a fabulous day. Our tour guide was really informative and very friendly, we had 2 children with us aged 8 and 10 and John (our guide) ensured the tour kept them entertained. The bus was very clean, as is Iceland in general. I would certainly recommend this tour, it is a great way to learn about and see first hand this amazing country.

Great trip with a very informative guide. It was very cold in February so bundle up. Don't miss the little rock "statues" built by tourist at Gulfoss, and DEFINITELY try the lamb stew and chocolate cake at waterfall gift shop!

Wonderful trip: perfect combination of information in the bus and plenty of time to wander around individually at the location itself.

The trip involved a long time on the coach with insuffient time at the locations. We did enjoy the trip but felt a little rushed. Also the coach driver was a scarey texting and drinking coffee whilst driving!

Despite being advertised as a half-day trip, this trip ran for over 6 hours - which makes it pretty much a full day trip in my book. Spectacular views are endless and the tour guide was very informative about a great many different aspects, not only of the tour itself, but also of Iceland in general. There are quite long periods stuck on the coach, but the scenery and views make the time pass relatively quickly. The sights are awesome and we had a great day out without needing to walk too far. With only limited time (2 days) in Iceland, this was an ideal trip and whetted our appetite with regards to what Iceland has to offer for a longer stay.

It was very good! a little rushed perhaps. We all wished we could have stayed longer at each stop. It was also convenient. We were picked up on time, and left off at a convenient place for dinnerl.

A 4 star for ther sights. Our guide had trouble getting people back to the bus on time and monitoring the alloted time at stops. Therefore we did not visit Hverageroi.

Went in late March '11, it's lovely, be warned, it was freezing! The tour guide was informative with a good sense of humour. The full tour seemed too long for us but so glad we included this in our trip, well worth it!

-stunning scenery with a good length of stay at each stop along the way -our guide provided interesting, informative commentary but didn't overdo it she left us with time to enjoy the views and reflect on what she'd shared with us -comfortable coach ride as well

The trip was wonderful - Iceland was incredibly beautiful. Our tour guide gave us so much interesting information about the geology, history and customs of the country. We appreciated the pick-up and drop-off from our bed and breakfast, and the trip as a whole was very well planned.

I loved the trip, it was so beautiful....however, my friend bought they same package through the hotel at 20 cheaper than I bought it for on line through this site, even with the big discount that was announced. Regardless of who you buy it though you still go on the same bus even thought different companies sold us tickets.

Great trip, entertained by the tour guide throughout. My only gripe was no stops for photos, i.e we passed some wonderful view points, saw an amazing sunrise but no stopping for short photo breaks. It just seemed a waste. Probably next time I would hire a car so we could capture all the glorious views.

This was a great tour. My fiancee purposed to me at the Gulfoss Waterfall during this tour. The reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4, the tour center picked us up at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and took us to Reykyavik for the tour which is 40min away, but later told us that they could not take us back to the hotel. We ended up spending an add'l 140 to take a 40min cab ride back to the hotel. It would've been nice if they informed us before they took us. The tour guide was very informative.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

Convenient time, there was a problem with pick up they did not have us in the system after purchasing this tour through Viatour, hotel reception had to call, unenthusiastic guide, covers good amount of territory and good choice for Golden Circle tour if you are short on time.

This trip was worth every penny and more, was a little rushed at some places, we were allowed 45 mins at waterfall but only 25 mins at Geysir, trip very tiring, best to do this trip before the snow melts otherwise would never have been as pretty.
