Reykjavik Sightseeing Tour

Reykjavik, Iceland

If you've only got a short time in Reykjavik and you want to see all the major sights, take this 2.5-hour sightseeing tour of the city. You'll see top attractions like the Hallgrimskirkja church, the presidential residence at Bessastadir, the fish market in Hafnarfjordur, the open-air Arbaer Museum and the recreational center of Laugardalur.

Your Reykjavik sightseeing tour includes short stops at the following attractions:

Bessastadir
Visit the presidential residence at Bessastadir, built between 1761 and 1766 and home to Iceland's president. You'll also stop in the town of Hafnarfjordur, famous for having one of the largest settlements of elves and other mystical beings known as the "hidden folk." You will also visit the old fishing harbor and when possible, the famous fish market.

Perlan
In Reykjavik you'll go to the Perlan building, which was built on water tanks that hold the city's hot water supply. Here you can enjoy the spectacular view over Reykjavik and its surroundings from Perlan's top-floor revolving restaurant.

Hofdi House
Explore Hofdi House in northern Reykjavik, where the all-important summit between President Ronald Reagan and Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986. You will also visit Hallgrimskirkja (the largest church in Iceland and one of its tallest structures), the University of Iceland area and the old town center, where the Icelandic parliament Althingi and the town hall are situated.

Laugardalur
End your day with a tour of the sports and recreation center in Laugardalur, where you'll find a geothermal outdoor swimming pool and sculptures crafted by Asmundur Sveinsson.

The tour was most interesting and our guide was very informative and amusing. Would highly recommend as a way of getting to see Reykjavik if on a short trip.

Great tour - our guide was informative, engaging and entertaining. He even managed to get the organist to play the amazing church organ for us which was purely down to his contacts. Viator are a very professional company and run their events smoothly. Highly recommended.

The price of the tour was worth it as going around to all the places by taxi would have been way too expensive, and by bus would have took forever. I was a little disappointed as we weren't able to get out of the bus at each spot so it made it almost impossible for pictures since they had to be taken out the window. There were only 6 of us on a small bus so we could have easily got out and back in. Unfortunately the guide too was extremely boring as he was very monotone and had many pauses in the middle of his sentences.

It was a pleasant tour, primarily because it was a small group (4). But like many tours, we felt a bit rushed a our stops.

It was a nice and enjoyable tour. The night before the tour there was a big snowfall and this probably stopped the organisers from running the tour as smoothly as they would have wished._br/_ Nevertheless, it was a nice experience indeed.

It was our luck to take this a.m. tour during the first snowfall of the year. We were not able to see the mountains in the distance or the city from the Pearl, however our guide did his very best to describe what we couldn't see and kept up a good sense of humor. We enjoyed learning about Iceland and the interesting comments from our guide. We took this tour only a hour after our a.m. arrival so that we could acquaint ourselves with Reykjavik and make optimum use of our vacation days. Timely departure, professional guide, and good overall tour.

Felt that the tour took us too far out of the city centre. We would have preferred if it had been more Reykjavik-centric with photo opportunities

Very enjoyable. The tour guide was very interesting and obviously passionate about his subject. This tour gave us a good grounding for finding our way about Reykjavik. It lasted just long enough to keep us interested and I am sure that he gave us some snippets of info that we would not have received on other tours. The guide's english was excellent (as well as all of the other languages he was fluent in). I would recommend it to anyone visiting this wonderful city.

Excellent! We were on that tour the day after our arrival and wouldn't have missed it. Being for the first time in Iceland, it gave us the necessary overview to be able to get around by ourselves. Our guide was really very nice, well-informed, kind, able to convey more than simple data and names. We also appreciated the fact that we could confirm our trip on arrival, i.e. later the evening before and that they made the tour with just the two of us. We did not like everything in Iceland, but for sure that tour and the following ones - by far the best we had in several countries of the world.

Thought there would be more city history instead of suburbs.

Although we took this tour on the last day, we learnt a lot about the local history and about the buildings that we had passed on many on occasion when we had gone into town for meals. The tour guide was excellent.

This trip was about 2.5 hours...just enough time to see things on a smaller scale. I hate all day excursions, so this fit into my personality.

A great trip and good way to get your bearings around Reykjavik - well organised. We did the trip in the morning and had the rest of the day free to explore the place ourselves.

There was only us and one other couple on this trip so I think people are missing out by not doing it, it's well worth it and gives you a good overview of the city. Particularly good are the stops at 'Perlan' and the President's residence and church.

It was an excellent way to get an overview of Reykjavik on the first day. A city map showing the route we took was not supplied but would have been a nice touch.

The tour guide was brilliant, driving safe and considerate. Weather bright and dry, slightly colder than UK, but good for photos of which we have many. We would travel again when we return to Iceland which we hope to do in the very near future, although the country is VERY expensive. _br /__br /_ Unfortunately our driver had to leave early to attend to a funeral and the relief driver did not appear to be to pleased with this as he was distant and not so flexible or understanding when we said we wanted to go to the shopping area.
