Corcovado Mountain, Christ Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain Day Tour
USD $157.99

Corcovado Mountain, Christ Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain Day Tour

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Combine two of Rio's most popular tours on a full-day shore excursion packed with breathtaking views. Int he morning, you'll enjoy a panoramic city tour and have the opportunity to ride a cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. After lunch, you'll travel through the Tijuca Rain Forest by cog train to the statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado Mountain. This tour is an excellent option if your time in Rio de Janeiro is limited, giving you the best of Rio in one great day.

The morning tour starts with a panoramic tour of downtown Rio where you'll pass by the infamous Sambadrome, the exhibition area for the renowned Samba schools in Rio. A brief stop is made at the Metropolitan Cathedral, made famous for its unusual pyramid shape. Admire its beauty and rareness from both the outside and the inside!

Your panoramic city tour continues with a visit to the traditional Cinelandia Square where you'll tour the various historic buildings such as the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. Head towards the Urca neighborhood, where one of Rio's most iconic symbols is located, Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Traveling up Sugar Loaf mountain on a cable car, you'll make a brief stop at a vantage point at approximately 700 feet (215 meters) above sea level. Capture unparalleled panoramic views of the city, Guanabara Bay, the Rio-Niteroi Bridge and Corcovado Mountain. You'll then ascend to the peak of Sugar Loaf for breathtaking views of Copacabana Beach, the Santa Cruz Fortress and the beaches of Niteroi.

You'll then enjoy lunch (included in the price) at a seafood restaurant before starting the afternoon portion of the tour. After lunch, you'll pass through the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas district (except on Sundays) on your way to the Cosme Velho train station. Enjoy a scenic cog train ride through the Tijuca rainforest up to the 125 foot (38 meter) iconic Christ Redeemer Statue. You'll spend approximately 45 minutes at the statue where you can capture once in a lifetime photo opportunities. After the train ride back down, you'll be dropped back off at your hotel.

The tour was excellent just long enough with the lunch break at the appropriate time. Our tour guide was fantastic. I recommend it.

I would recommend this tour for anyone who has limited time in Rio. The pick up and drop off at hotel was very timely. Both tour guides were very informative. The lunch was at a very nice restaurant and not at a buffet. The meal was delicious. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and we lucked out and had great weather!

A strange tour. This is two separate tours combined into one. Lots and lots of hanging about between dropping people off and picking people up at hotels. In between you get a substandard meal where you have to pay 8 reals for a coke and have to wait 2 1/2 hours for the afternoon tour to start (we used the time to wander around Ipanema). As for the tour, it does what it says on the tin - you get to see the sights, and Maria our morning guide was great. Recommended if you have limited time and want a hassle free way to see the main sites.

Got to see what I wanted in a day, though very tiring and a lot of wasted time. This was the morning tour plus the separate afternoon tour with a change of guide and bus after lunch. Annoying doing hotel drop-offs for those only on morning tour before going to restaurant (check drink prices before ordering). If you have the time it would be less tiring to take these separate tours on different days. Lot of time spent standing in line, and sun was very low by the time we got to top of Corcovado - great views of the city, but the sun was sinking behind the statue of Christ.

The full day tour was good organized, guides were friendly and spoke multiple languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish). I would recommend this tour to anyone who is doing short trip to Rio.

I was a bit disappointed with the city tour. Very perfunctory.

Think of this tour more as an expensive taxi ride rather than a tour. Unless you're lucky enough to be at the right end of Cococabanna you spend at least a third of the day picking up and dropping off other tourists. This occurs twice as this tour is actually a combination of 2 trips and not everyone does both. The tour is advertised as being in English, however it's also in Portugeuse, Spanish, French, Italian... This is an impressive display from the 'guide' however in terms of relaying useful or informative information about what you see is rubbish. The downtown tour consists of driving quickly past a couple of sites and 1 stop at a church. Lunch was ok, but as other reviewers have pointed out the drinks are not included and are very expensive even if you are only drinking water!_br/_ Final comment, as the groups are so large the tour 'leaders' don't have a good handle on who's who and therefore have a tendancy to talk before everyone is within earshot. This can be a big problem when they're relaying times to meet etc.

Does what it says on the tin and definitely worthwhile visiting both sights. The main drawback was the hotel pickup rounds which meant we were sitting in the bus for 2 hours before we had picked up all passengers and the tour actually started! The same happened again with drop offs and pick ups at the middle of the tour as it was combined with people doing only the half-day tours. So in short: good tour but probably wasted about 3 hours picking people up and dropping them off at hotels, which could've been done a lot more efficiently.

Worth doing for the experiece of the sights but suppliers could have been better.Lunch was a total waste of time and money, with extremely high prices for drinks and service terrible. We think you should rethink your venue for lunch. You should also get your supplier to make it clearer as to where pickup points were as most of the party were very confused.

My advice to anyone taking this tour, DO NOT plan it on the day you leave. Our tour ran smoothly in the morning (Sugar Loaf Mountain) and then fell apart in the afternoon. The tour guides changed prior to lunch, which should have been the first warning sign. I cannot recall our tour guide in the morning but, he was great! As for our afternoon, we had to sit through a lunch which lasted almost 3 hours; yes, three hours. After several guests began to leave the restaurant out of frustration, the tour guide got the hint and we then finally made our way to Christ the Redeemer. It appeared our tour guide was in no rush to resume the tour. She was not helpful and appeared to be bothered when we asked her questions. Some guests failed to be served their lunch until after everyone else ate and that did not seem to concern the tour guide as well. Upon our arrival to the Chirst Redeemer, the disorganization grew even bigger. It was especially frustrating when our rude tour guide began to rush us during pictures and shopping, as our bus was scheduled to leave. Hmm...one wonders if our lunch was not three long hours, we might not have been rushed. Overall, aside from the disorganization in the afternoon tour and rude afternoon tour guide, the sites were amazing!

The tour to sugar loaf mountain was good and enjoyable with enough time. But the lunch was not good and it was too long time._br/_ There was very little time given at the corcovado mountain. The guide for that part of the tour was more in a hurry to get rid of us rather than actually letting us enjoy the tour.

It was too long and we lost a lot of unplanned time. Lunch was not good, too commercial. Guides speak good english but do all the explaining in the bus instead of in the sites, which was not convenient at all. Value for money is average.

Why take the customers to a Italian resturant when you are in Brazil. Lunch was terrible, do not order drinks the resturant rips you off. _br/_ I think somebody is making a lot of money out of this and the company Viator are being taken for a ride.

We were very lucky with our tour; the weather on the day was glorious and our guide, Luis, very helpful and knowledgeable. Both mountain trips were amazing with the most wonderful views. The only small niggles were that the restaurant where we stopped for our (inclusive) lunch ripped you off something rotten when paying for drinks (I think it would be much better if there was an allowance in the price of the trip for these), and the amount of time to look around the summit at Corcovado could have been a little longer. But all in all, a great day out and not to be missed.

Great day! we saw everything. Was tiring but well worth it. The bus had great aircon, the tickets were sorted promptly and we were always informed about what was happening and when. The not so great points were: the lunch was not great, in fact quite poor and the sound system did not work for the entirety of the trip so we missed out on quite a lot. We would have prefered the day without lunch as it was a waste of time and rather had a snack of a stop at a eating place where we could sort ourselves out.

Would have been ok if we didn't spend two hours driving around in the morning picking everyone up, then an hour driving around dropping those off that were only doing the half day tour. then another hour driving around picking up the afternoon half day people then another hour after the tour driving around dropping everyone off again. Far far too much time just driving around dropping people off and picking people up. The wholoe day trip could very easily be combined in a half day for both Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf of small mini buses used instead. Plus explanatins being repeated in three languages was a bit of a pain.

The tour never went to Christ Redeemer and the guide had to speak in several different languages which made it more difficult to get very much information. Except for that it was a good tour showing some interesting things on the way to Sugar Loaf and the Mayan style church in Centro.

This is 2 tours in one. The morning tour, to Sugar loaf, was fine although it took an hour to collect all the people from their individual hotels. Once collected the tour went without a hitch the weather was clear and the view good. The lunch between the tours was good. The second afternoon tour involved a lot of hanging about. After spending time collecting people from hotels we were dropped off in a square for 20 minutes so we could buy tourist tat from a 'recomended' shop, the 20 minutes turned into over half an hour. We then got on with the visit to Corcovado, unfortunately it was too cloudy to see much but that is the luck of the draw. When we got down from the mountain we had to wait quite a while for the coach to arrive (perhaps we weren't expected to come back). Then everyone had to be dropped off at their hotels. A long day and not all of it productive.

we njoyed the whole day of sightseeing.its a good idea to complete both the things in 1 day if you r on a time crunch..if you have some time in hand i wld suggest to do both things separately in the day time..as the weather gets bad in the evenings and it is difficult to see the christ statue.. also you can do these things on your own by taking a taxi..the pick up and drop off took a long time..arnd 2 hrs each time..also the lunch included was not grt..we ordered wine which was not included in the lunch and was very expensive (44 reals for 2 glass of white wine)..

I was in town for a short time on business and this tour was my one chance to see the city. Unfortunatley it was so poorly organised that it is the last time I will book with Viator! This included a city tour with only one stop in the city (an ugly cathedral) and no time in the actual city. We spent more time picking up and dropping off at hotels than anything else because the tour is actually two tours combined into one. We spent ages waiting for tickets to be purchased which could have been prebooked. The only good parts (Sugar Loaf and Corcovado) I could have done myself by taxi in much less than the 10 hours that this tour took. Even the windows in the bus were dirty and did not allow photography through them. This tour is simply designed to part a busy visitor to the city from his hard earned cash, in other words, a complete rip off!!!

This was a great tour and a MUST DO when in Rio de Janeiro. Lunch was delicious. However, drinks are not provided with your meal.. I thought this should of been included (soda, tea, water) since you spend a lot of money for this tour. Otherwise, this was a great tour..

The sites were spectacular and the meal was great however the tour wasted over 2 hours just driving around in a bus picking up guests from hotels! We went past some land marks 4 times. The other thing to note is that this is a large group tour with over 50 people in the group. Finally the tour guide had to do the tour in 4 languages which was clever but im sure i missed a lot of interesting points because of the rushed way the narative was delivered. Not up to the usual Viator standard.

The big disadvantage is that the full day tour consisted infact of 2 halfday tours. For each of the 2 half tours people were brought and picked up to/at hotels. That took more than 4 hours boringly driving in busy Rio. _br/_ Tourguides were good and knowledgeable. _br/_ Just taking taking a few taxis would be more comfortable.

overall, a great day...Sugar Loaf - impressive but we only made it half way up due to the strength of the wind rendering the 2nd cable car unsafe...Christ the Redeemer - mind blowing! - the highlight of Rio...not to be missed...there were some negatives to the day...late pick-up from hotel...hanging around on the bus doing other pick-ups...would be so much easier and quicker to just have one [maybe 2] pick-up points on Copa beach - BE CAREFUL when ordering drinks with your lunch at the restaurant...we ordered 2 glasses of wine with our meal without checking the price...WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!...stick to water!!!

The tour was efficiently organized by the locals, with some delays here and there. The guide was very friendly, easily approachable and informative! What disturbed us was, that when Viator was asked to accommodate us in terms of time when we disembarked from the star princess, they washed their hands completely & left us on our own to make the necessary adjustments which we fortunately got sorted out. Someone at the local agency was very accommodating.
