Pompeii and Amalfi Coast Small Group Day Trip from Rome

Rome, Italy

Tour Pompeii and the beautiful Amalfi coast villages on a small group day trip from Rome. You'll travel in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan with your driver. Each minivan accommodates 8 people maximum. A driver-guide will accompany the group throughout the day and an additional licensed guide will meet the group in Pompeii for the two-hour walking tour. Book now as seats are strictly limited.

You'll stop at scenic viewpoints as you travel along the stunning coastline to reach Positano, one of the most famous charming old fishing towns along the Amalfi coast. After some free time in Positano, you will travel on to Amalfi.

Amalfi is a labyrinth of narrow lanes and alleyways and features typical Mediterranean village architecture. Here you can sample the local Limoncello liqueur or visit the celebrated Moorish-style Paradise Cloister, dating back to the 13th century. You'll also enjoy lunch at Amalfi (additional expense), then follow the road uphill away from the coast for a last glimpse of this enchanting part of Italy before continuing on to Pompeii.

At the amazing ruins of Pompeii you will take a two-hour guided walking tour conducted by a local expert guide. You'll discover the everyday life of Rome's Imperial age as you walk through the ancient ruins which were buried in ashes after Mount Vesuvius erupted almost 2000 years ago. You will visit the homes of Pompeii's wealthier citizens and ancient street cafes where locals dined, hear numerous anecdotes about daily life in Pompeii, and see graffiti dating back to Roman times.

This was a long day but we had a blast! It was nice to spend a day out of Rome. Pompeii was interesting and Amalfi along with Positano was great. For lunch we went to Chez Black and they had the best Italian sausage ever!

A long day but very worthwhile to see. I would recommend that this tour be done as a private tour more than a group. We were stuck in centre seats in a mini van for the duration of the trip which is 8hrs. There was no changing around of seating arrangements and what we saw en route was very limited. The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable but not a freindly person and open to questions, his bedside manner left a lot to be desired. we are glad to have seen the countryside but would not consider another group tour with the present travel arrangements.

We had the most amazing day trip from Rome. It was a very long day because the guide(s) did not rush the day. They do not advertise that they stop for 2 hours for lunch in Positano and stop again in Amalfi for an hour. The guide and driver allowed for several stops along the amalfi coast for picture taking. The tour of Pompeii was wonderful and the guide there was very informative. This tour is worth every penny. There were 8 guests and driver in our van and we caravan-ed with 2 other vans. We are a family of four with two teenagers. They also loved it and it was their favorite day of a two week trip in Italy.

The tour was great, and Max, our driver, was wonderful - the only small issue we had was that the tour of Pompeii was only 2 hours and there were many important things the guide didn't cover.

Great day, our tour guide was very good, but if you want to go in winter i would just catch a train from rome to pompeii, but it was beaitful to see the amalfi coast, just very very quiet

This day trip is well worth doing. Although a long day it was very enjoyable. The tour around Pompeii was really interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. The trip along the Amalfi coast was beautiful and we stopped at some amazing sites and took some lovely photos. Had lunch in a lovely restaurant on the beach in a lovely little town and had some time in Amalfi to enjoy the views and local shops. I would recommend this to anyone and the guides were extremely friendly - the drive at times was hair raising as they drive differently to us ... but did make us laugh

All three of us did the small group tour for this extremely long trip in a 9-person mini van(including the driver). Since we sat in the back row, we could hardly hear the tour guide, who is also the driver. He talked quite a bit along the whole journey while driving, and I guessed we might have missed a lot of his stories.Despite of that the view and scenery along the Almafi coast made up for the other loss. It was still a worthwhile trip.

It has been my dream to go to Pompeii so I definitely thought this was worth my money. The local guide was indeed expert; he was clearly passionate about his job. This was infectious, he was able to really bring the city to life. It would have been a lot less interesting if we had done Pompeii ourselves. Positano stopover for lunch was amazing; they took us to a restaurant favoured by Denzel Washington (apparently he has a house there). The limoncello at that restaurant was zesty! Really excellent. The driver was very experienced and told us interesting stories about tax evasion haha. Despite the excellent views, i personally cannot take long car rides so unfortunately spent much of my time in the car asleep and couldn't enjoy the view. Almalfi coast gelato was only so-so.

An excellent day that I don't hesitate to recommend. This was my second visit to Pompeii and by far the better of the two due to your outstanding guide there. The little bus was very comfortable and We enjoyed the company of the other travelers. My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide the driver with a microphone so that he can give more commentary. The Amalfi coast was astounding. Many thanks to our driver who was very a very nice and helpful young man.

This was a good way to see the sights! It is a long day and our only criticism is that the van may have seated one too many. My husband had to sit in the middle front seat and by the end of a long driving day it was cramped quarters. But the sights and stops were wonderful and the guide in Pompeii was excellent!! It would be nice to include a snack or beverage for the price but we would do it again!

A fantastic day! Definitely one of the highlights of our four night stay in Rome. I was afraid it would be too much to squeeze into our short stay but it was worth it. I was also afraid it would be an incredibly long day, but it was well planned and went by quickly.

This trip was AMAZING!!!! Our driver Andre was super fabulous and knew the coast well and gave us so much great history. Also he was such a fun driver - felt like a real Italian driving experience! Gaetano was our guide at Pompeii and gave us such a rich history of Pompeii and the best sites of the area. He was so fun to listen to and really made the city come alive. It was so worth it and if we are ever blessed enough to come back to Italy we want to do this again! Thank you so much!

I really enjoyed our tour guide with Julio. He was extremely kind and personable. He was also very knowledgeable. As others had said it is a long day but if you want to see Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast then it takes a while. My only complaints was that I didn't feel that we had enough time in Pompeii. We missed a few things that I really would have liked to see. Also, while the Amalfi Coast is beautiful, I felt we spent too much of the day on the coast. I would have preferred more time in Pompeii and just done part of the coast. Overall, it was nice and gave you a sample of both Pompeii and the coast.

So happy we took this trip! Driver Andreas was great and we had a wonderful tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. The small group setting was nice and the Mercedes mini-van was very comfortable. Our lunch at Chez Black was one of the best lunches on our trip. A perfect way to see areas we would not have had time to visit otherwise. Would definitely recommend this tour - it was a highlight.

This trip exceeded our expectations. The coach was a bit "budget", being essentially a mini-van. Spent more time in Positano and Amalfi than I thought, although I wished we had even more time. There is no way we could have seen Pompeii and the Amalfi coast on our own. We had a great time. The guide was very knowledgeable as well.

What a great day! The weather was perfect for our visit to Positano and the Amalfi Coast even if it was winter. There was so much to see and enough time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and explore the area. Our driver/guide did a fantastic job – we were collected from our hotel and returned tired but happy. Pompeii was also wonderful with a patient and knowledgeable guide. This was the only paid tour we did during almost one month in Italy but it was well worth it. Given the driving conditions, it’s not something the average person could do well which is why we chose it.

The van was stuffed to the max with 9 passengers, and very uncomfortable for all passengers. In addition, I recommend that more time is spent in Amalfi, rather than Positano. The tour in Pompeii, however, was excellent.

Although pompeii was fascinating and amalfi had beautiful scenery, I was disappointed with the length of the trip. We were supposed to go to positano, but could not because of a problem with road access. For the cost of the trip, I would have thought we would be taken somewhere else instead, but the trip was just shortened by 3 hours. For being gone 12 hours, we were in the van for almost 8 of those hours. Not worth the price.

This was a highlight of our Italian holiday. Our tour guide was very well informed, professional and knowledgable about the entire area of our tour. Although the tour is 14 hours long, it went by in a flash and we were sad when we had to say goodbye. The drivers of all the vehicles were absolutely marvellous, I do not envy them their jobs but I do envy their driving skills! I would recommend this tour to everybody and would like to do it again. A special word of thanks to our tour guide: she made the whole trip interesting and enjoyable. Paul and Marlene

Wonderful day even in the rain. The trip is long andlots of haripin curves so bring motin sickness pills if you have a weak stomach, they work. The little villages of Positano and Amalfi on the coast are beautiful. Max our driver recommended a wonderful restaurant in Amalfi that we all enjoyed. Wish we had more time to shop in Positano absolutely Loved it. Pompei was amazing and our guide, Guytano was pasionate about Pompei and brought the town to life with his explanations. Unfortunately he is also arrogant and gets very upset when you take picutres or videos. This was one highlight in Italy and will go back again to see it with sunny skies.

It was a long day, but definitely worth it. Pompeii was an experience of a lifetime and the views along the Amalfi Coast were breathtaking. Our driver (Chris) was full of energy, funny, and made sure everyone was having a good time. Our guide in Pompeii (Gaetano) was quite possibly the best guide ever. He was very entertaining, knowledgeable, and made Pompeii come to life.

We enjoyed our trip although it was raining while we were in Pompeii, Pompeii is large area but when we returned home realised that we had missed a whole section of the site including the area where the people were buried. The Amailfi coast section was absolutely fabulous and we had a wonderful guide that kept us entertained all day. Perhaps a seat change in the car would be a good idea as we were sat in the back all day and really felt that this was not really fair so a seat rotation would have been better. Overall a great day out.

Be prepared for a long day out! It was however a very worth while trip, with good guides and an excellent driver, much appreciated in the volume and flow of the traffic. Even tho we only had two hours in Pompeii the tour was very informative and balanced. The trip down the Amalfi Coast was just beautiful. Be prepared for the Mamma Mia road! Nice lunch at Positano. The last leg of the Amalfi Coast tour was unfortunately in the dark but we did travel at the end of October, would be great in the long summer evenings.

I truly enjoyed the Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour I took while on vacation in Rome in early November. Max, the tour guide, picked me up from the apartment I was renting which I really appreciate. He was very professional and kept the group informed of important facts about the places we visited.

The group was small (8) and immediately friendly. Max, our driver/guide was funny and interesting. Gaetano Manfredi, the Pompeii historian, was very interesting along with being amusing. The Amalfi Coast is stunning. Positano and Amalfi are intimate and charming. Itʻs a very worthwhile long day.

Awesome day trip from Rome! The Pompeii tour was very good. Amalfi and Positano were AMAZING. The drive itself to get to the Amalfi Coast is worth the money...more fun than any roller coaster ride I have ever been on! Only knock is that we sat in the back of the van and it was very hot even with the air conditioning running .

We had originally thought about reserving just the Pompeii tour on a large bus, but we are so thrilled that we chose this smaller tour that also included the Amalfi Coast. We spent most of our vacation in Rome and Tuscany, so it was great to be able to add this gorgeous part of Italy. Our tour guide Maurizio was fabulous - keeping the 13-hour day very interesting and moving right along - but also giving us free time to shop in Amalfi and lunch in Positano. The Pompeii tour was amazing, and the local guide there was extremely knowledgeable. All in all - a great day!

Great day, worth the money to travel with a smaller group. Wish we had more time in Positano, would have liked less time stopping at random ceramic stores along the way. The guide in Pompei was fantastic, and the city was one of the most amazing sites I have ever seen! Note, its a long day, more than 12 hours...pick up at 7AM and got dropped off at 930PM
