the trip to the salt mines was very informative and the journey was very scenic and our mini bus driver Walter was very nice and spoke very good english as there was only 6 on this trip we had really good fun._br/_ the afternoon sound of music tour was very good and both driver and guide (peter)were very jolly and informative.once again viator have not let me down and seem to get better each time i use them.

Excellent and fun tour! The tour guides really made the trip interesting while giving funny and lively commentary. Even if you are not a fan of the movie we would recommend this tour simply because the movie locations visited are gorgeous and you get to see more the country and mountain side of Salzburg.

The sound of Music tour was excellent, I've never watched the entire movie but the tour itself was quality, partly down to the tour guide who was super charasmatic!!! Super trip, the Salt Mines were really interesting and fun. The Sound of Music trip was brilliant with opportunities to see outside of Salzburg but I would have liked to seen more Sound Of Music sites, the ones in Salzburg centre we were directed to look at by ourselves after the trip was finished. Great guide though and the memories of driving to Mondsee through amazing scenery while the Sound Of Music soundtrack played on the coach will stay with me forever!

The miners slides were fun but the rest was really weird. If you're going for the history it's not really the right tour - plus some strange and in my opinion out of place laser lights going on. However I believe some other people liked it, just not what I was expecting and would enjoy. Plus the tour guide was pretty useless.

salt mines trips was nice. The guide refers to the Golden bear restaurant to take lunch break but it was not that good. Also the sound of Music tour was nice as well.

If you like the Sound of Music then this is the best possible tour to go on! You find out more information then steps you take during this tour which is a lot. If you have the tour guide Peter for anything then your experience is doubled because he's a great guy with hysterical comments and jokes along the ride._br/_ The Salt Mines were really magnificent! If you have claustrophobia then I do not recommend taking the tour because the little train that takes you deep, down under might cause people to freak out. I personally loved the train ride! You can lick the walls to taste the salt and you get a free souvenir at the end of the tour. There are also slides that were made out of old chutes for transporting salt and those were really great! There are also three pictures you can buy at the end of the tour that at 12 Euros. 5 Euros per piece if you want them separately. The only thing I didn't like was that you couldn't take pictures or video but that might be just for the safety of your belongings due to the temperature under ground. I 100% believe that if you are interested in the slightest bit in any of this you should not hesitate to take the tour! _br/_ The people who are helping in the information box are all really great people too! They can help you with any questions you have there as well. _br/_ Enjoy! You won't regret it!

The group was entirely too large on the original sound of music tour everything seemed so rushed - the salt mine tour was different but a little disappointing - the tour company used was horrible in customer service - I called them to confirm one day prior and get instructions on pick up - I waited for over 30 minutes when I then tried to contact them they said it was my fault - their driver was there - no sign never called my name only when I threatened to cancel and wanted a refund did they make the pick up - horrible

This a very word trip. We like this trip very much. We thoroughly enjoed the salt mines and we learnt a lot from this tour. All the lakes were so maanificent that we felt we copuld have stayed in Salzburg longer.

The Sound of Music tour was fanastic. It was a lot of fun. I wasn't the biggest Sound of Music fan but I learned a lot on the tour. Definitely watch the movie before going on the tour because the guide refers to specifics in the movie. The only complaint I would have is the company didn't stick to the time posted. We didn't start our tour until a little past 10 am and didn't arrive back in Salzburg until 6 pm. It would have been nice to know when exactly the 8 hour tour started.

The Sound of Music tour was terrific - our guide Peter was the best. He knew the movie so well and gave us so many little details along the way. We got to see several sights where movie scenes were filmed. The lake district was beautiful. Note, if you are doing this tour, you don't need so the city tour/mountain tour as well. You get most of the same info and visit the same places. The salt mines were really interesting as well. Our tour guide for that was not very informative, but I guess you get who is available, and there were some stops that were pointless in my opinion, but the mines themselves were interesting.

Like a few other posters on here, we were scheduled for the sound of music tour and then the salt mines, but when we arrived we were told that they had been swapped. This was a bit of a pain as we weren't told about this earlier (or confirmed via email). However, the tours themselves were great, both Peter and Andres were hilarious and made the trips in the buses very enjoyable. While the views over some of the lakes for the sound of music were great (ruined a little by the weather on the day), the standout was the unexpected things in the Salt Mines. Sliding down the mines, the train ride, the lightshow on the boat, were awesome! Would have 5 starred this if it hadn't been for the mixup in the morning (which isn't a reflection on the tours themselves).

I really loved the Sound of Music tour, and it was a nice way to to see some of the beautiful country around Salzburg (if you're not a fan of the movie of course). I didn't like that essentially they were two different tours with two different guides (one was great one was not so great), it felt very inefficient. Overall I enjoyed the whole experience and am glad I did both, I would recommend the Salt Mines tour as it is so fundamental to Salzburg's history.

Panorama Tours have it all worked out!. Efficient pick up from the hotel, great guides, with an appropriate sense of humour as well as knowledge. We did the Sound of M. tour 20 years ago, and this one was better! My parents visited the mines in 1948 - interesting to compare photos! A great day.

The salt mine tour was great. Our tour guide on the bus was very infromative. Although a long trek back to our starting point (the tour picked up a group at another tour along the way) the trip was wonderful. The mine was very interesting in itself. The group was of a sufficient size that it wasn't crowded. Did not start 'on time' at the mine, but we were finished in plenty of time to catch the bus back.

while the SOM trip was fine ... we were totally SCREWED out of the Salt Mines Trip ... we were picked up LATE [prob due to combining us with another couple that was only doing the SOM tour] ... so instead of doing the Salt Mines in the morning and SOM in the afternoon ... we did the SOM first ... and arrived back too late to do the Salt Mines ... and lost $$$$ that we paid for the Salt Mines tour!

We were lucky in that the day we went was sunny weather-wise, until we were returning on the bus. Consequently the morning in the mountains seeing the salt mine was excelent. That afternoon Sound of Music tour was made all the more enjoyable for me as a non-fan of the movie, by the wise-cracks of the guide. Good fun!

The salt mind tour was interesting, but it was difficult to understand the guide. The sound devices were ok, but we still missed some information. A little too much time at the end to play with the salt facts interactive. The sound of music tour was wonderful. The guide spoke wonderfu English, was funny, and made the tour very enjoyable. We wished we had known about the Eagles Nest tour. We might have done that instead of the salt mine, although the salt mine was interesting.

Had a really good time on both excursions, lots of fun.. Although wasn't explained this wasn't one continuos tour but two half day tours, so you had an hour to waste back at the original pick up point, also it gave you the option of hotel pick up, which I put all my details in etc, but never heard anything back so we just had to make our own way to office in fear of not being collected and missing out on a tour which we thought was a one day tour.

The tour was good, giving us the experience of visiting a real salt mine, but the tour within the mine was slightly unfair for non-english speaking tourists as we had to share the place with local school kids. As a result, we couldn't hear clearly the commentaries within the mine nor spend time reading all the displayed facts.

The Original Sound of Music Tour is exactly how you imagine it to be with the scenery and the detail behind all the filming of the movie. The guide was brilliant! Very enthusiastic not only about what he was doing, but also about the Sound of Music in general so it was full of fun and interesting facts. The Salt Mine Tour is interesting and you go through the mines like being at an amusement park! So it has a train ride, a boat ride and slides you go down to get around. A great novel way to see the mine which keeps you amused and interested in what's going on. Would be great for families with primary school kids!
