Little Italy and North Beach Walking Tour

San Francisco, United States of America

Definitely one for the food lovers, the Little Italy and North Beach Walking Tour is a glimpse into the blend of culture and cuisine of San Francisco. Stroll amongst the cafes and bakeries of North Beach, San Francisco's own Little Italy.

North Beach awakens your senses, from the cafes and restaurants, to the smell of fresh-baked bread in the air. Discover quaint shops with crafts and ceramics from around the world. Delve into North Beach life as you join family bakers kneading love into every loaf of bread. Just when you think you have reached food heaven, you'll come across coffee shops which roast fresh coffee beans daily. And if that was not enough, you will uncover authentic Italian cathedrals where hundreds of couples have felt their heartstrings tug!

And, as you taste everything from great coffee, truffles, breads, olive oil, specialty meats, and more, you'll learn how the food is made and what to look for back home.

The only problem with this tour was that the guide seemed to have a bit of a speech impediment and was hard to understand at times. Other than that, it was great. Very interesting and tasty !!!

We had a great morning with a very informative and pleasant guide. We had so much to taste test we didn't need any lunch afterwards and we learnt a lot of information about the businesses and sights of the area. I highly recommend this tour.

We enjoyed this tour very much. It was fun to walk around and try foods from different shops and learn the history of the food. My children had a great time with all the tasting involved.

Great food. Very knowledgeable guide about the food. Didn't get as much history as I though I would, but I enjoyed the eating & drinking & his helpful demeanor at the end.

Tour was good but would have have seen and done things in different order. Guide had a limited and very rehearsed commentary. The food shops we visited were all in a row without breaks to see something else in between. So we had so much to eat it was difficult to taste things at the last couple of shops.

Superb due to the local knowledge of the guide and the small size of the group. Very highly recommended indeed.

This is one of the best kept secrets of San Francisco. A magical insight into the cafes, bakeries and coffee shops of the stunning North Beach area. It is personally one of my favourite areas of San Francisco, and I found the food on this tour absolutely exquisite. I still have cravings for the mouthwatering handmade French chocolates. Yum. This is not your typical run-of-the-mill tour - it is guided by a passionate tour guide who seems to know the who's who of North Beach, and knows all there is to know about North Beach.

Our guide was great, giving history of the area while we enjoyed the many fine treats. The bakery oven was fascinating as was our lesson on coffee beans and olive oil. What a great way to get a feel for the neighborhood, past to present.

I don't usually do tours, but decided to do this one. I am soooo glad I did as it was excellent! Our guide was great and very knowledgeable. Good group size also, not too many people. I am definitely going to do this one again! Also, EXCELLENT FOOD!

It started out a little slow. But we ate several different tastes and all were very good. Plus we learned quite a bit about types of ovens used for cooking, how coffee beans are roasted, etc, and some key sights in the area. I would recommend this to anyone for eating and learning a lot about North Beach.

I thought that this was mainly a culinary tour emphasizing the Italian foods in San Francisco and North Beach, but I didn't experience that at all. The attempt was made but the stops were barely Italian whether at the bakery, deli or restaurant.

We had a great time. Ahh, SF, though we've lived here forever, there's nothing like a new perspective.
