Yea, but before when I got the Alcatraz for morning, and bus in afternoon was so much better so I would go back and book Alcatraz so I would know the time before I went to pick-up the tickets.

It was OK once we got started!_br/_ The pick up point of "Corner of Post and Powell Streets by the St Francis Hotel" didn't exist. The only pick from Union Square was opposite Macy's. As a result of waiting here for a non existant pick up we had to get a cab to the offices at Taylor Street as we had to be there by 10.00am to collect the tickets for the trip to Alcatraz. There was no alternative to this as they were unable/unwilling to tell us over the phone at what time our trip was, whether it was in the morning or afternoon. This made it all a bit of a rush to start the day._br/_ However the bus hop on/off was OK, we used it on the two days but was a pity it only went in one direction. This meant long rides each time we wanted to visit anywhere. Alcatraz was superb and is an absolute MUST.

The trip to Alcatraz was great; though basically it is just a short ferry trip and once on the island you work out what you are going to do yourselves. The hop on/off bus was another matter - very unhelpful staff at the book-in counter. The first day with Willie as driver was OK and he was very entertaining, but the second day was a nightmare. The bus was terrible; it was so uncomfortable and the driving ability of the driver left a lot to be desired. These buses were blue; we should have just book this tour ourselves and chosen the red buses.

Stress free! We bought these tickets ahead of time and had a wonderful time at San Fran. You take the Alcatraz tour on your first day after visiting the Tour bus main office where they hand you your tickets and give you the time of your tour. We got to see all we wanted.

We would highly recommend the Alcatraz tour, the boats were punctual and the audio tour was fascinating and included in the original ticket price. The hop on hop off buses are not the smartest tour buses we saw around the city and a couple of the drivers we had were not very enthusiastic in their commentaries. We did notice that the drivers were holding microphones whilst driving which we thought was unsafe and headsets would be a much better idea for them. A seperate driver and tour guide on each bus would be much better. But the buses were pretty punctual at each stop being every 30 mins.

Prebooked this tour before we went and glad we did as it was sold out when we arrived so tip is to plan ahead! We spent approx 3 1/2 hours on the island including boating time.

The San Francisco hop on hop off was not as good as New York. The drivers drove like race car drivers and a few times we got picked up in there old busses that have solid wheels and no suspension. there bus stops were not marked and we had to guess if we stood in the correct part of the street to be picked up._br/_ The Alcatraz tour was great very interesting even the boys liked it

The bus tour is OK,but there should be one going in the opposite direction to get you back to Union Square rather than doing the whole round trip. Also don't get the last bus as seemed to want to get back to Union Square as fast as possable!_br/_ Complete mess up with the Alcatraz tour. I was simply told to get the bus down to where the boats leave,there was no mention of picking up any tickets. Staff at the boats were very helpful and found where my tickets were and what time the trip was for.Viatour you need to sort this one out as could very easily have missed this part of the trip

The HOHO bus was very good. The drivers/guides were nice (especially mike) and they were very frequent. The stops were convenient. Alcatraz was well worth doing. The trip over only lasts 15 minutes. As well as the jail there is wildlife and walking trails.

Highly recommend this tour. Easy to find the local office to pick up tickets. Unfortunately we couldn't get to a few places as there was a triathalon on so the Golden Gate bridge was not accessable, but that wasn't the companies fault. Bus guide was excellent, and the trip to Alcatraz was well worth it.

Alcatraz was great, but since they book it for you we could not take advantage of the bus tour that day. We did not have time to do both.....sort of a scam! Bus tour second day was ok. We spent more time waiting around for busses that were late then seeing sights. Would have been better off buying the trolley pass and doing our own thing.

Exceeded my expectations as I mainly went cause my husband wanted to! The audio tour was exceptional and interesting and the guides were helpful and informative. The queue moves quite quickly so dont be put off. It was cold and windy so make sure you have something warm!

We had a WONDERFUL time doing the Hop on Hop Off tour! We HIGHLY recommend the trip! Our drivers, Aaron, Ron and Jody were WONDERFUL tour guides and each added their own flair on the history and happenings of the city. Our favorite part of the trip was the Golden Gate bridge. Most say Alcatraz which we did enjoy, but were saddened at the run down out buildings. Such a sad place to visit, but the condition of the out buildings was a real let down. that has nothing to do w Viator tours but the busses do come by every 15-20 minutes, and you can get on and off at the stops. You take the a city bus to their location, which was very easy to do, and because our Hotel was on the route, several times we were dropped off right in front of our hotel. Cow Hollow, EXCELLENT place to stay Just an excellent company. We were very happy with them and highly recommend this tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Hop-on hop-off bus was great, recommend to take the first bus at 8.20am, take the full 2 hour journey, and then you can decide where to hop off next time around. The Alcatraz tour was awesome, you need a good 2 hours on the island.

Excellent value for first time visitors to San Francisco to get their bearings and the lay of the land. Can't recall the name of the bus hostess but she was a well of information, the highlight of which for us was the pointing out of the first bar opened in San Francisco, the Saloon which is still operating & is a venue for blues artists. We went there for the evening. Terrific.

We enjoyed the Alcatraz tour, some additional stops on the Hop on Hop off Bus would have helpful eg Marina, Civic Centre, Opera and Symphony Hall and Lombard St. As we were travelling in Central America prior to San Francisco it was difficult to ring confirmation 48 hours prior. An email link to the local agent for confirmation additional to phone would be helpful especially for overseas patrons.

The San Francisco Hop-on Hop-off Alcatraz Tour that I booked with Viator from London was Fantastic! It really helped to make my holiday complete. I arrived to start the tour and the staff were expecting me and greeted me nicely and looked after me and my friend very well indeed. From now on I shall book all my around the world tours with Viator. Excellent and very professional service. The tour staff even contacted the airport to check that our return air flight home was still on schedule for free from the goodness of their heart.

The whole experience is well worth the money. Myself and my girlfriend thought it was a great way to see the city and enjoyed the visit to the rock - the audio tour on the rock is great.. Just remember to contact the office in San Francisco either by phone my hotel only charge 1.00 for the call or pop in the office which is a short walk from Pier 39 on Fishermans Wharf, before your tour date makes things a lot easier.

The actual trip was very good and one of the best experiences of the holiday. However, there was a bit of confusion with the tour operator which nearly resulted in us not going on the trip. When we rung to confirm the trip 48 hours before, I enquired whether we needed to pick up tickets or meet anywhere in particular and I was told that we would just need to meet at Pier 33. When we arrived at Pier 33, we were told that we would need to pick up our tickets up at the tour office and because we hadn't, we would miss our time. We were never told this and when we rung the office, the man was very rude and even put the phone down, even though I had kept very calm about the fact that we were told the wrong information! We ended up being reallocated tickets for the following day, but this was not without a fight!

This is the tour that we booked for our first day in San Francisco. This is a great way to be introduced to the city. The only downside is that the Alcatraz tour times are booked randomly. I was hesitant at first to take the Alcatraz tour, but it was probably the highlight of my visit to San Francisco.

Great trip. Great guides on the bus, and the tour of Alcatraz was superb. Would return to San Francisco tomorrow and would do Alcatraz straightaway. Glad we booked before our trip as Alcatraz was booked out 5 days in advance!
