Seattle, United States of America

Myth and magic come to life at Tillicum Village, located 8 miles from Seattle's waterfront on Blake Island State Park. Here, you have the opportunity to learn about the Native American culture and watch a 25-minute show featuring traditional song and dance. A delicious Chinook Salmon buffet is included on this enriching and enthralling excursion for the entire family.

The 4-hour adventure to Tillicum Village on Blake Island State Park begins at Pier 55 on Seattle's central waterfront. Relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery during the 45-minute narrated cruise from downtown Seattle.

When you arrive at Tillicum Village, make your way up to the longhouse along the pathway strewn with clam shells bleached by the sun. Before you enter the longhouse, take a moment and enjoy an appetizer of clams and nectar. Be sure to crush the empty clam shells when you are finished as it is the tradition to help preserve the path!

Inside the longhouse, watch as whole Chinook salmon is cooked over an alder-wood fire on cedar stakes in the traditional Northwest Coast Indian style. As you finish your buffet meal, the lights dim while the myth and magic come to life in the spellbinding performance featuring the Tillicum Village dancers.

The highly acclaimed show leads visitors through an enchanting tour of the customs, beliefs and dances of the Northwest Coast Indians. In this 25-minute production, the authentic dances are representative of the myths and legends from various tribes along the Northwest Coast. Modern storytelling and symbolism are combined with the theatrics of the stage to enhance the ethnic and cultural heritage of an exceptional people.

After the show, you have approximately 45-minutes of free time when you can watch carving demonstrations, browse through the gift gallery featuring artwork of local artisans or stroll along the pleasant beaches and forest trails.

We started off on a fantastic boat ride-took approx 45 mins-from the wharf to the Tillicum village, with full commentary on the way.We were greeted by the locals with a cup of the clam broth, the tradition was to drink the broth, toss the clam shells on the ground and crush up with your feet, this makes for a great pathway from the boat to the entrance. The show was good, the food was great,we saw the salmon being baked in the traditional way-plenty to eat, fresh salads and chocolate berry cake, and of course the salmon, were on the menu.We headed back to Seattle after dark, what an amazing tour.I recommed this to any 1st timers to Seattle.Regards Bev -Australia

Nice boat ride- fun friendly crew. The meal was great- good tasting and all more than you can eat. Show was ok, good. Not a top priority, but certainly worth doing.

Loved this cultural heritage tour. Seattle is such a great city and the history of Blake Island is captivating. The salmon bake buffet was amazing and the hiking trails brought you back to nature.

The meal was not well cooked. The dancing was very amateurish; some of the dancers were giggling during the performance.

We really enjoyed the experience. Food was served buffet style, very casually, but the food was good. It was a whole evening that was fun and different from the norm.
