Changi Village, Chapel and Museum Half-Day Tour from Singapore

Singapore, Singapore

Visit the Malay Village of Singapore, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Malays and relives life in a Malay kampung in the 50's and 60's. Stop at Changi Chapel and visit the museum, here you will be able to see the history of World War II.

Visit a Malay Ethnic Area of Singapore, listen as your english speaking guide recounts stories of collective spirit that rose through the darkest times of World War II as you continue your journey to visit the Changi Chapel and Museum.

Drive through the rustic and laid-back Changi Village which gives you a chance to see the relaxing side of Singapore and provides a contrast to your final stop at Tampines New Town, a typical heartland township of present day Singapore.

The guide was very knowledgeable. The Changi museum was interesting and we could have had more time there instead of having a 20 minute stop at a food court. The stop at the mosque and the walk around the associated shops was interesting too.

This trip did not live up to my expectations. I had not appreciated that the chapel was a copy and that the elements regarding the prison were so limited. This may have been a failure of my research, but there was less content than I was looking for.

Eliza was a knowlegable, informative tour guide. This tour is highly recommended to anyone who has an interest in the beginnings and history of Singapore. 10 out of 10!

Well researched with a guide who had good English, we enjoyed this most inexpensive tour which shows the horrors of the treatment of the Australians and Indians and locals at the hands of the Japanese in the second world war. Worthwhile.

The actual visit to Changi chapel and museum was disappointing in that the 'guide' was unable to be heard. With other tours inside the museum at the same time it was difficult to decipher who was saying what and we had to wander off and read the descriptions rather than stay with the guide. The stop following Changi at a local village and Arab Street were uneventful and a waste of time. I would recommend people consider an alternative tour to this one if your time is limited.

This was an emotional trip for me as my Father was a prisoner in Changi. I was not sure what to expect but felt something was missing and not sure what - sorry. Tour Guide very informative and pleasant.

Drove into Changhi village but straight back out again. Chapel and Museum were haunting if a little small. Overall Good.

Very disappointing and not what I had booked. Instead of being taken to Changi village we spent 45 minutes standing in a children's playground in Tampines. Nothing to see, nothing to do. The time at Changi museum did not allow us to hire the audio guide which I have found to be a wonderful way to learn about the museum. Then we were taken to Arab St, again, not on my itinerary. Tour Operator said they had changed this tour some time ago and notified their agents. I would not have booked this tour if I had know what was on offer.

Excellent trip, guide was informative and entertaining. Changi Musuem is a very poignant place, and well worth a visit. The trip to the market place afterward was just that, a shopping area for a local large community but it offered a chance to get a coffee, or just a walk round. Pick ups on time and coach air con! Recommended!

Interesting and informative tour. More time should be incorporated for the Changi Chapel segemnent. The 45 mins for this part is not enough.

The Changi Museum and Chapel were a fantastic place to visit. However, the remainder of the tour then took us to places that were not relevant to any of our interests and frankly quite boring. I would not recommend doing this tour if you are expecting to see and learn more about World War II and Singapore's involvement.

This was very rushed! You drive past parts left standing from the war but don't get enough time to take a proper photo. At Changi museum we only had 45 minutes to look around. We took a tour of a market which was boring and couldn't get out to look at the mosque because it was raining. Overall disapointing!

Our guide for this trip was very knowledgeable and interesting. Sadly Changi Museum was in the process of redecoration whilst we were there, and we were unable to view the murals and artwork. Very emotional however, to locate the names of two close relatives in the list of internees.

This for me was a very meaningful pilgrimage to the POW camp. I also appreciated the opportunity to see at first hand the Tampines development. What Singapore has done to house and provide for its citizens is a model for other countries.

The drive past Changi Prison and Military camps was interesting. The Changi chapel and Museum was great however we werent given enough time here to look at everything. The Changi Village was a waste of time. It was a visit to an apartment block with shops. If you have been staying in Singapore you will have seen this on every corner. Would recommend cutting this part out of the tour and having longer at the museum, this would make the tour much better. The final part of the tour was a visit to The Kampong Sultan Mosque which was also interesting and worth a look you don't get to go inside.

Tour were great, but the communication between Viator and the local company was bad. Three of the four tours we booked with Viator were not known to the tour operator. Eventually sorted out, but not good enough.

This was a really informative tour, our guide was fantastic. It was very moving to read all about the prisoners at Changi. Our guide took us through a housing complex and market, which was interesting hearing all about the way people live today. Then we stopped at Little Arab, which we really enjoyed seeing as it was probably not an area we would have visited.

Our guide was fantastic. I learnt so much about Singapore but would have loved more time at Changi to read more. My mother was in World War II, so it meant so much to her to go there. It hit home very much. It was all just really good. Thanks.
