Raffles Hotel Singapore Half-Day Tour

Singapore, Singapore

Retrace the colonial history of Singapore on a jam-packed half-day tour. Highlighting the influence of Sir Stamford Raffles, the 4.5-hour afternoon tour takes in Singapore's elegant Raffles Hotel and Raffles Landing Site. You'll indulge in an afternoon tea buffet at the Raffles Hotel's renowned Tiffin Room or enjoy afternoon tea of tea and cake at a traditional Chinese bakery. You'll then take a cruise along the Singapore River to Clarke Quay and make a visit to a pewter factory.

Sir Stamford Raffles played an enormous role in Singapore's history, founding a British colony here in 1819. His vision for Singapore's future came true, and Singapore became a vital international port and trading center for the Far East. You'll retrace the course of Sir Stamford Raffles' dream on your Raffles Hotel Singapore tour, visiting the site where Raffles first set foot in 1819 and seeing an exhibition on the history of the Singapore River. The highlight, of course, is visiting the centre of high-society colonial Singapore, the stylish Raffles Hotel.

The river cruise by bumboat, the traditional vessels that ferried cargo up and down the river in times gone by, is another highlight of your Raffles Hotel Singapore tour. Today your bumboat will steer you along the historic Singapore River, past colonial buildings, Chinese shop houses and the modern skyscrapers of Singapore's business district. The cruise ends at Clarke Quay, a riverside festival village. You'll visit a pewter gallery to discover the history of pewter and its role in the development of Singapore as a trading port, and witness a demonstration on pewtersmithing.

This is the hotel you have always heard about, and what a treat to see it, and hear its history with a knowledgable guide. Then sit down to an elegant afternoon tea.

We had just arrived at the end of our cruise so this tour was a good intro to the locality. Judy, our guide worked her butt off, especially with the downpour at the museum, ensuring we kept dry back to the bus with borrowed umbrellas. Her knowledge and personality helped ensure a great time and a real must for us was the Tiffin room afternoon tea at Raffles - just beautiful!! We wanted to stay another hour to enjoy the beautiful food and service. We will always remember Raffles and needed more time in the hotel too to appreciate the building itself. Lovely tour.

After HaLong Bay, here we got what a toruguide should be ... cleanly dressed, offering great facts on the things around us that matters ! The Tiffin was fabulous, altho I missed the harp-player (I was doing a Tiffin also 2yrs ago). Thank you.

I enjoyed this tour as an introduction to Singapore. The high tea at Raffles was worth signing up for - there was certainly some jealousy from those that had not pre-booked. If you are taking tea, I recommend that you miss lunch on the day of your trip!

Iniotially when we rung the local tour company to confirm, there was a confusion about the tour inclusions we had booked with Viator, and what they thought it included, however the next day a differnt person had it correct. Viator's support was appreciated when we were initially concerened. The Raffles High Tea was well worth it, excellent variety and quality of food, as well as the wonderful service and the whole raffles Hotel expereince. The river boat trip and Pewter factory were also very enjoyable with wonderful guides.

Our very knowledgable tour guide Eliza ensured that this was a most informative tour .Ending as it did in the Tiffin Room at Raffles hotel for the most amazing Afternoon Tea . The pleasure of this incredible spread was enhanced moreso by the accompanying lady harpist.

Enjoyed the tour, worth the money. We were able to spend a fair bit of time at Raffles, husband had a beer in the long bar before having high tea. Don't have lunch before you go as there is more food than we expected, 1st class service from the staff. Boat trip was good and relaxing after the tea, good commentry, the pewter tour was average. Host was excellent

Excellent afternoon tour, great guide. $30 for a pre-mixed Sling in the long bar...no thanks! Have a walk in and take your pics, then relax and take time to enjoy your tea in the Tiffin room instead. The Included boat trip is also a great way to see Singapore. Recommended.

Our tour guide wasn't very informative and didn't show a lot of motivation to explain some history of the country to foreigner guests. Otherwise, the visit of the Raffles hotel and the boat cruise were delightful.

We had the most delightful afternoon on this tour. We arrived at Raffles with time to spare so could sit in the Long Bar and have the traditional Singapore Sling and then we proceeded to the High Tea which was in the most beautiful Tiffin Room. Our guide on this day was the loveliest lady who just made the afternoon so enjoyable. Highly recommended.

As a party of four we thoroughly enjoyed the excursion. We were a bit confused as to what we had booked at Raffles as we believed that we were due to have High Tea but this was not the case. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining. In all a very good trip. Thank you.

The highlight of this tour was the visit to the Raffles Hotel - the rest of the tour was was pretty average. One point if you are going on this tour, when you get to hotel tell your guide that you want time to have a Sinapore Sling at the Long Bar, he should adjust the timing of the tour round the hotel accordingly. On our tour our party did eventually get our Singapore Slings (and they were brilliant) - but as stated earlier, let the guide know at the start of the tour what you want to do in the hotel.

This was a lovely trip if you are interested in the history of Singapore and want to enjoy a bit of luxury with tea at Raffles and a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar ! My oly complaint is that you do so much in an afternoon that at times it is a bit rushed. Stil a great afternoon!

The collection from hotel worked fine but we had to wait quite a lengthy time at the drop off door the next coach. The actual trip and Raffles tea was excellent BUT please make MEN aware at an early stage that they MUST wear socks. Our info did not mention this. I had to buy some at Raffles shop which were very expensive

A truly amazing hotel with history running through it s veins. You could easily picture the times inthe 40's with the 'beautiful' people wondering the grounds and sitting inthe bar. it has a great little museum that was a oittle bonus that I wasn't expectingg and the high tea was well worth it. The singapore sling was a little pricier than I expected but hey! why not indulge and take a sip of history

Informative tour around the riverside to explain the history behind Raffles hotel and its founder. Hghlight was obviously high tea in the hotel, expecting a tray of snacks, scones etc, what they didnt tell us prior to us eating the cakes on the table...was that we could have free access to the fantastic savoury buffet as well! A note if you intend to go to Raffles tour, do not eat previously! Certainly enjoyed ourselves.

We were lucky enough to have a tour party of just 7, which enhanced this very personalised 'hands on' experience of all things Raffles. The tea, as you would expect, was superb and overall, the tour was very informative and excellent value for money.
