Singapore Haw Par Villa and Round-Island Day Trip including Lunch

Singapore, Singapore

Take a Singapore round-island day tour to Haw Par Villa, Singapore's Chinese mythology theme park crammed with statues of legendary figures. The full-day trip also retraces Singapore's World War II history, with visits to Kranji Dam, Kranji War Memorial, Bright Hill Temple and Changi.

Haw Par Villa's colorful statues and landscaped grounds are a Singapore highlight, and were formerly known as the Tiger Balm Gardens. The gardens provide a relaxing sojourn before the sobering reminders of Singapore's experience in World War II. Kranji Dam, in Singapore's north-west, was the first landing spot for Japanese advance boats. You'll have clear views across the Straits of Johor to Malaysia and visit the Kranji War Memorial, the last resting place for allied soldiers who lost their lives in World War II. The memorial commemorates by name over 20,000 men and women of the forces who have no known grave.

After lunch on your round-island tour you'll visit Singapore's Bright Hill Temple, famous for its Chinese crematorium and well-stocked turtle pond. The final loop of your Singapore day trip brings you to Changi Chapel and Museum, with its memories of the Changi prisoner-of-war camp. You'll pass the Johor Battery built by the British in 1939 and see a replica Monster Gun, one of the largest guns installed outside Great Britain during World War II. Your Singapore day tour returns to Singapore via a drive through Changi Village.

All along the way our guide gave us an extremely interesting insight into the urban and social side of Singaporean life. _br/_ There are times when the loud, inconsiderate chatter between some tourists on the buses makes it very difficult to hear the Tour Guide. In this case I was very impressed by our Guide's professionalism and grateful for his quiet, but firm, 'çrowd control'. _br/_ Lunch was lovely. _br/_ A very enjoyable and informative day. Many thanks.

Excellent tour, very good tour guide with lots of informative information on the tour and on Singapore generally. Haw Par Villa and the temple were fantastic venues and Changi Museum was sobering. Bus was excellent and all pickups were on time. Lunch was average quality but in a nice location.

Haw Par Villa looks a bit tired - the rest of the day was excellent - good guide, good food, good company. We particularly enjoyed Kranji and the Changi museum

the main attraction the guide described was not open. Other than that the tour was good but the luncheon was too limited to asian taste

Very informative tour guide, we learned a lot about Singapore. Unfortunately it poured with rain the whole day but still enjoyed and took lots of photos. Lunch was ok but best was Changi Museum and Kranji War Memorial. A little rushed at the museum but our guide did say because it was of great interest, you should come back again because to read everything and look at displays, it would take couple of hours.

this was a gem. haw par was different and the kranji and changi experience is special from a history perspective and only reinforces that there are no winners in war, only dead troops

Great tour. as picked up at the hotel(Hilton). Tour guide on the bus was very informative. Could have allocated more time for Haw Par as 45 mins wasn't enough. Lunch was great. Great value for the money. Highly recommended.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt many in-depth things about Singapore and its history. I would have liked more time at Haw Par Villa and Changi Museum. Excellent set lunch is included, but we had bad weather and I would like to redo the tour on a better day.

A great idea of getting around Singapore in one day, especially if time is limited. Is also a good way for you to see an area of interest, and if you have time, you are able to go back and spend more time there. Had a friendly tour guide whom made sure everyone was well looked after, sharing information and seem to enjoy his job. The lunch was also a very good way to see and learn about Singaporean food and its people; it was a great meal - (Some people on the tour need to learn how a lazy suzy is used and to take it in turns - that is not tour guides fault). I really enjoyed learning more at Changi War Museum as this is an area important to Australians. My only complaint - I could have spent longer at museum - but as I have mention above, I got to see what the museum was like, and I could have gone back later if I have more time.

I had a day to kill en-route to Thailand, so thought I would take the round island day trip having not been to Singapore for many years. The trip was a perfect and relaxing way to get an idea of the development that has taken place over recent years and refresh my understanding of the history of the island. Maggie was the perfect guide, happy and friendly with an unbelievable depth of economic and cultural information. Her retention of facts and data was simply astounding._br/_ The lunch in a relaxing seaside restaurant at Sembawang was just fantastic - plenty and good variety of food and perfect service. Offered a chance to chat with the locals fishing from the little jetty in front of the restaurant._br/_ In summary, the trip was excellent value for money and it is highly recommended.

Not the best tour, quite boring. We spent hours at a temple but then only got half an hour at the war museum. The guide was also quite biased against the Japanese and refugees, made a few comments that weren't overly appropriate.

We had been looking forward to this tour as previously my husband had lived in Singapore and visited Har Par Villa Tiger Balm Gardens 40 years ago...was not dissapointed, apart from short time we had to look around...however, visit to Changi museum and cemetery made up for this, very moving. Lunch was lovely, plenty of choice. The guide was brilliant, answered all of our questions and more.

This tour is excellent in that it gives the first time visitor to Singapore a comprehensive view of a good part of the island. The guide was very informative giving insights into both the history and the present way Singaporeans lead their lives. The War memorial and also the chapel were very moving and a very good lunch was provided too. Good value all round.

A very good day and good value for money. The guide was enthusiastic and informative. The tour gave a new perspective of Singapore, seeing things we would not have seen on a traditional city centered visit to Singapore. A very pleasant lunch was provided. We were impressed that even with our small tour group size the company did not economise by substituting the large coach for a smaller mini bus.

Sensational! The visit has made me determined to come back and look through Haw Par Villa more thoroughly! Lunch was very nice. Bright Hill Temple was stunning! However it is only a short stop at Changi Museum. We were lucky in that we had already done a tour of Changi museum and I would definitely advise those interested to either book a Changi Museum tour or go there on your own in order to see everything!
