The Viator Team arrived in my hotel just in time, our guide was a kind and knowledgeable young lady, everything did as it was originally planned. Thank you.

The tour was quite good but very overpriced. The guide was a young lady who did her best to help all the people on the tour (six of us) but her knowledge was slightly limited. At the end of the tour we were going to be left at the waxworks museum near the Hermitage and 40 minutes walk from the hotel. We had no diea how we were going to get back since we couldn't read any fo the road signs. Everyone complained as we were all very tired and eve tually, it was agreed that we could get a taxi back. As regards the typical Russian meal in elegant surroundings, nothing could be further from the truth. The lunch was taken in a restaurant filled with other tourists and was more like a canteen. We started with borsch (beetroot soup) which was quite nice but the chicken kiev was processed with cold rice. Dessert was a luke-warm pancake served with some tasteless jam.

The tour was very good, we enjoyed seeing the most important buildings of the city. Our tourguide knew so much about the history of the city and tsars, she was excellent. The Hermitage was beyond our expectations, no museum can match this one. Our guide took us to the most famous art pieces and elucidated on the tsar family history.

The tour was very good except that I could not go by myself. It was always necessary to have a Russian individual accompany me. Did not feel comfortable or relaxing.

Lovely guide, very helpful and knowledgable. The 2 hours in the Hermitage acted as a great introduction to the treasures there and we would certianly have missed many highlights if we'd not had a guide. She was so good we had a trip the next day to the summer palace- another great day out. Both trips were more expensive than we would have expected which is the only reason they are not scored with 5 stars

An excellent tour with a first class guide. She explained everything well in an interesting way without overloading us with information. We chose the option that ends up with a 2 hour guided tour of The Hermitage after which you are free. So we were able to have a light lunch in their cafe and spend the rest of the day in the museum looking at things we found most interesting, returning to our hotel by trolley bus. We could easily have spent another full day in The Hermitage but had no more time.

Our first trip of the 3 and was a good introduction to the city. However, we found it worrying not to be able to contact anyone when we were waiting in the hotel for the guide. She was only 10 mins late but obviously there was uncertainty that our booking was secure etc so a current phone number would have been helpful.

Tour was fun & informative. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Only problem was that we were not dropped at our hotel after the tour; we had to find our own way back to the hotel from the Hermitage. Also, some of the attractions listed on the itinerary were not included.

The tour guide was simply fantastic. We spent all day with her and didn't even notice as she was very kind and most of all, had a great background.

This was spoiled by not being taken back to hotel at the end and having to find our way by bus, contrary to the tour description. Until then it was excellent. We suspected the car had broken down!

The car wasn't really that well suited for the type of tour we were given. The guide kept talking about and pointing to things we couldn't see. The guide was very knowledgeable and had memorised all details. Her English was OK, but with a very heavy accent at times which made it difficult to understand.

The guide was terrific and her English was strong. Our complaint is with the transportation. We paid a fee for hotel pick-up and drop off. The tour ended early and did not include a return to our hotel. That makes for a world or worry for foreigners in Russia.

The tour was fine and we saw the things we wanted to. The van was clean and comfortable and the tour guide spoke English well. I think St. Pete's is a two day visit if you bring children. Any more and kids get a bit antsy.

September 2006
The itinerary was very good. The guide was very knowledgeable but her English was a bit difficult to understand, and she spoke constantly. The tour was tarnished by a lot of haggling around transportation from and to the cruise ship.
