Blue Mountains Deluxe Small Group Eco Tour from Sydney

Sydney, Australia

Head for the hills and experience the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains on this small group day trip from Sydney. Travel on a complete loop of the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains and see many hidden locations away from all other tourists. This unique small group tour offers the most amazing experience to the Blue Mountains National Park. You'll also come face to face with native Australian animals, such as kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, dingoes and as well as a massive variety of birds and reptiles.

The first stop on your Blue Mountains Eco tour is Featherdale Wildlife Park. You'll arrive at the park before any other tourists and have the opportunity to get up close to the animals, stroke a koala and hand feed kangaroos, wallabies and emus.

Continuing on, you'll head through the northern section of the Blue Mountains National Park, stopping at a number of spots for short walks and to enjoy the stunning views of these remote regions and learn about the flora. Enjoy a delicious morning tea at Bilpin before continuing through Hartley Vale -- keep a look out for kangaroos grazing in the pastoral areas.

Lunch is in the heart of the Blue Mountains at the Katoomba Golf Club where you will enjoy a 2-course meal (if option selected), or your guide will take you to Scenic World, where there is buffet or cafe lunch to choose from (at your own expense).

After lunch you will visit Scenic World, where you can ride the Scenic Rail, the world's steepest incline rail. The 415m descent will take you through a cliff side tunnel down into an ancient rain forest. From here, you are free to explore the Scenic Walkway which will guide you through the forest to the Scenic Cableway platform. Take the gondola for spectacular views of the Three Sisters and the rain forest.

The final stop of the day is the new Koomurri Aboriginal Centre where you will see a corroboree (traditional dance) performed and have time to explore the art and artifacts on display before returning to Sydney where your tour concludes.

Please note: Scenic Rail and Scenic Cableway are at your own expense and not included in the price of the tour.

I'm sure much of our enjoyment was due to our driver, Paul. He is a local and had lots of interesting information he shared with us. The early arrival to Featherdale was great. The animals were ready for guests and it was not crowded. I also like that the tour allowed us to take the three types of transportation available at the Blue Mountains. That was fun. I do wish the lunch had been a bit more creative. The food was somewhat bland, particularly for the price.

I was somewhat disappointed by this excursion. At the outset it was not explained that the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area comprises several national parks adjacent to development corridors and private sector facilities. Scenic World was in fact on private property and not national park land. _br/_ The guide, was prone to dreadful exaggerations such as "this is the only intact ecosystem on the planet" and slightly dismissive. I asked about scenic world and was told it was private land but it was managed as a park and that it was too complicated to explain. As a consequence I found it difficult to find him credible._br/_ I thought the meals were poor and at the very least lunch should have included one beverage other than water. _br/_ At best it was a pleasant scenic drive, at worst an overrated excursion from which I learned almost nothing.

I have been on 3 Blue Mountain tours in the past, but I have to say this one was the best. small groups, super tour guide and the chance to visit Featherdale Wildlife in the early morning before other tours arrived. I was the first to feed the wallabies and actually see a koala wide awake having had a tasty breakfast of eucalyptus leaves!

Well organized and we liked the small intimate group setting. The guide/driver Johnny was EXCELLENT host and guide. Only problem was it was winter and the Sun Downer (champagne) that we had was a little too early. Well, Sun does go down early in Winder.. so.. but overall was a great experience. We would have liked a short guided hike added to the tour.

Brilliant day in the Blue Mountains with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide Don. Were in a small group, just 4 of us plus Don, and had a great time, very nice lunch and nice finish to the day with a glass of bubbly in very nice surroundings. Probably one of the highlights of our time in Sydney. Would definitely recommend this trip.

Featherdale Wildlife Park is very interesting. Not enough time there to appreciate. Lunch at Golf Club good by should include a dessert and coffee. Gondola and train ride not included. These options are a must when you're there but way too expensive. Not so spectacular.

Very good tour guide. Only issue was the optional cable car tour, would have thought that this would have been included for the price. Refeshments were not available throughout, no drinks etc.

The guide/driver was outstanding. I really enjoyed all of the dialogue and the attention to detail regarding timeliness. Also an excellent driver. The tour route was also really nice. Great to see more than one site in the area. What was a highlight for the trip was the visit to the animal center at breakfast. What a great little zoo! Nice to be there before the crowds, and only wish there was more time. One disadvantage for me was the lack of excercise/walking. It would be good to make more explicit the choices at the three sisters regarding doing all of the tourist rides and actually hiking for 45'. I didn't think the gondola/train were worth the time, and would have much preferred a walk around the rim. Nice touch at the end to have champagne or juice to celebrate the day. Also really nice to have the option to get dropped off at the Olympic Park to take a ferry back to Sydney Harbor. All in all I would definitely recommend this trip and am glad to have done it.

Great way to see some of the sights outside the city. The wildlife park is fantastic, the animals are all around you, the Emus, kangaroos, and birds will walk right up to you, i could have spent a lot more time here. the rest of the trip was also very good, the views of the Blue mtns were great. The driver was probably the most knowledgeable guide i have ever had. great trip

Featherdale was great, but with breakfast not enough time to see all the animals. The trip is too sedate, no walking, just sitting. The info on plants was good and interesting. However the added cost of the Scenic World was not worth it. We asked the guide's advice what we could do if we didn't pay entry to Scenic World. He said do what you like. We paid 28 each for Valley & Skyway return - he didn't give us enough time. We could not complete what we paid for. Poor attitude. Later made a quip at our expense which we ignored. Do not recommend this tour, very expensive especially with Scenic World added. Guide needs to take an interest in his clients. He told us countless stories about himself.

This all-day trip started from our hotel and lasted all day. The driverguide was very knowledgeable and taught us history of the area, how the blue mountains were formed, introduced us to Australian animals many of which we could pat and many other things. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend this trip. We even saw wild kangaroos in the pasture, something the larger tour buses would never be able to do.

This tour was amazing! The company sent a fax to the hotel the night before to confirm pick up. Our tour guide gave wonderful information and added special touches. Getting into Featherdale Wildlife Park before it opened gave us the opportunity to spend quality time with the animals. The tour was well organized and maximized the time. Would highly recommend!

Our guide was knowledgeable and the tour was beautiful. Criticism would be, it's a long day which can't be avoided because of the distance but the travel time in an off-road vehicle makes for a very bumpy ride. It got a little too much at times but there was much to see and we had a ball nevertheless. Just be prepared for a lot of bouncing around. Thank you again for a wonderful trip!

Great tour guide. Beautiful countryside. A No Smoking Policy Needs to be enforced so the entire group is not always inhaling smoke at every single stop. At least request that smokers walk away from group. I found it quite distracting while the guide was speaking of the nature of the outback. I would like to smell the natural enviornment. Thank you.

The trip was a fun! Our guide was a nice guy! He can pick up everybody at their hotel entrance, which is too good as it's extremely cold in the dawn. However we didn't reach a point to view the Three Sisters as shown in the overview pic of this tour!
