The 2012 opera season at the Sydney Opera House promises to exceed all expectations as new stars join favorites from previous seasons to transport audiences to another world. Performances are held in the Opera Theatre. With seating for 1547 people, its the second largest venue at Sydney Opera House. As the operas are performed in their original language (mostly Italian), subtitles in English are projected onto a screen above the stage.

Bars inside Sydney Opera House open one hour prior to performance time, so why not arrive early to enjoy a pre-theatre drink (additional cost) and enjoy the unbeatable views of Sydney Harbour.

As I have never seen a live performance of an opera in my seventy two years and my wife and I were staying a few days in Sydney I decided to take my wife to see The Magic Flute in one of the world's most iconic opera houses. We booked seats through Viator over the Internet and collected our tickets at the Sydney Opera House an hour before the performance was due to start all without a hitch.

An amazing experience that we will never forget. Collection of the tickets was quick and easy and considering we purchased the cheapest priced seats, the view was excellent from the centre of the dress circle. The opera (Magic Flute) was delivered in English in a modern style, the scenery was first class as were the voices of all participants.

I was initially concerned because I booked "The Magic Flute", but itinerary continued to show "The Marriage of Figaro". A phone call to Viator customer service fixed that issue. Others in my travel group were able to pick up their tickets earlier in the day, but mine weren't available until an hour before the performance which was a minor inconvenience.

although obvious professionals, I was hoping for a tenor voice and it was a baritone. Simplistic staging. Wanted seats on the floor and could have had them if I had gone directly through the Opera House...will do that next time

Opera was AMAZING! One thing that I would suggest for those coming from the US, Choose a night towards the end of your trip, otherwise you're EXTREMELY tired by the end of the opera.

La Boheme was a brilliant performance. The singing was good,The emotion was well portrayed and the staging for the cafe scene was excellent..Compared to the previous La Boheme I saw in Bangkok it was trmendous and thoroughly enjoyable.

This was a very good evening. The only sad part was our seats were at the far left of the stage and it was difficult to impossible to see any of the second floor action (The Barber of Seville). Otherwise the experience was very favorable. The acoustics were tremendous and the enthusiasm of the audience was fantastic.

It was our first opera and we enjoyed it very much. Nice to have the story printed in the handout (stage bill). Seats were wonderful-the balcony was fairly empty so the ushers said we could sit anywhere-lovely.

What a delightful evening! Our seats were perfect, in the front and center of the theatre. Our tickets were available at the Ticket Office when we arrived and it couldn't have been smoother to enjoy a night at the opera.

The opera was beautiful and the venue couldn't be beat. The view across the harbor from the Sydney Opera House was amazing. The interior decor is a little 1970s but all was forgotten when the curtains opened up and the orchestra began to play. I highly recommend that anyone visiting Sydney should see an opera.

Not being an Opera fan, i have to say that i came away delighted and would certainly go to another. The experience was truly amazing especially the acoustics. Performance was superb and loved the opera house. Only issue was that we couldn't take our rucksack in which we didn't know about and having been shopping we had some bags which had to be checked in. However this didn't detract from our enjoyment.

My daughter and I didn't have to queue. No body could give give us information exactly how long the opera would take place. It was a great opera performance, beautiful but sometimes it's funny.

It was an awesome performance and the front of house staff was excellent. They were able to find me new seat when my allergies were seriously affected by the person sitting next to me. My new seat was more central. I really appreciated the service. it was pleasure to experience the Sydney Opera House.

Step into Sydney's most iconic building and feel the enchantment of a great performance - which La Scala definitely was! The actors were truly first class and for my first Opera, this is setting the standard pretty high! Ticket pick-up was really easy and though I was running late that evening, it was all sorted out within seconds thanks to very helpful front desk agents. The seat was right in the middle and I had great view of the stage. This was a very nice evening and seeing a performance at the Opera house is a must-do while in Sydney!
