Taipei Half-Day City Tour

Taipei, Taiwan

Get a glimpse of Taipei on this three-hour tour. See how the people live in this interesting city. Visit Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, Martyrs's Shrine, a classic Ming Dynasty architecture and later onto the National Palace Museum. Conclude with a visit to a Handicraft Center to view typical Taiwanese craftsmanship.

You'll be picked up from your Taipei city hotel and guided around Taipei's best attractions. Visit the grandiose Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, in downtown Taipei to pay homage to the late President Chiang Kai-Shek. Travel to Martyrs' Shrine to see an excellent example of classical Ming Dynasty architecture dedicated to the fallen war heroes of the country and see the hourly changing of the guard ceremony.

The three-hour Taipei tour continues to the National Palace Museum, which houses the world's largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. There are permanent displays of ceramics, bronzes, oracle bones, porcelain, paintings, calligraphy, enamelware, jade, Ching dynasty costume, carvings, and cabinets, as well as temporary exhibitions of other items.

Travel to one of the many traditional Chinese temples that surround Taipei city. Then it's time for some shopping at the Handicraft Center, the center offers Taiwanese craftsmanship including jewelry, art and furniture.

Great way to see Taipei's most popular tourist attractions especially if you are on limited time! Loved our tour guide. He was incredibly informative, funny and patient. He did such a great job at ensuring that everyone was included. I highly recommend this tour.

It was a short tour and wish we could spend more time in the museum as it had the most amazing collections. In general, the tour is great and the tour guide is helpful. I am glad that I have joined this tour.

What a wonderful way to be introduced to this breath taking city! Me and a friend were very impressed and would reccomend to anyone. Its a simple yet a quick introduction to the Taiwanese culture. We were so impressed with their pick up service at our small and out of the way hostel we stayed at. _br/_ Thank you!

This is the comprehensive tour to see Taipei city in a half day only. The tour brings us to see many famous sites in Taipei in very efficient timing. However, the visit to handicraft center was too long, and the tour brings us to a handicraft shop that sell quite expensive gifts compare to the gifts sold in other shops in Taipei. We bought there Taiwanese snacks with the price more than double than the similar snacks when we bought in the night market.

Good tour, lots of good sights, but not enough time in places of interest and too much time in areas not interested in.

Sorry but it was yuk, it was a fairly boring day, though some of the buildings nice, we were taken to the handicraft market which was just a shop filled with the hard sell staff, even though I should of know better I was tricked out of $400 after buying a item that I was told repeatedly was 1200ntd (and I have two witnesses) was charged 12000ntd and suggested I pay by card, then timely rushed out the shop by the guide and only worked out on the bus how much I just spent, I did complain to the giude but he was not to interested and having no way of going back I had to cope it._br/_ also at the Museum you have to stay with the guide while he talks about a few pots over and over and then you have only minutes to get back to the bus or you are told you will be left behind if not there on time so it was pointless looking any further._br/_ just yuk :-((

This is the fastest way on a tight time schedule_br/_ to see the major attractions in Taipei in an unhurried way. Our guide was excellent and full of information. The tour of the National Palace Museum alone saved us a full day if we had done it on our own. I highly recommend this Viator Tour.

This tour had a good coverage of Taipei's main cultural sights but as previous reviews they should spend more time at the Palace Museum as we hardly saw anything at all. It would also be much better to cut out forced stops at tourist traps such as the Handicraft Centre but as all tour operators get commission from the shops to bring tourists there, this is unlikely to happen.

Good tour to see some of the highlights if you don't have long in Taipei - guide was good and spoke good English. The obligatory visit to a "arts/handicraft centre" (i.e. souvenir shop) was a waste of time though but these sorts of tours always seem to include them!

It was the usual tourist thing to do. But it was informative since it was my daughter's first trip to taiwan. Overall, we enjoyed it. I have been to Taiwan many times but never got to see the places we went to until i joined Viator.

A good way to see some of the main sights in Taipei but the lengthy stay at the souvenir shop could have been shortened in order to see more of the city.

Was disappointed as I thought this would be as city tour. the only things we did was go to a coupleof museums, the Martyrs Shrine and a small temple. I was expecting a tour of the city pointing out places I might want to visit during my stay in Taipei.

I think the tour was good. At times it would have been helpful if the tour guides explained more about the different places. For example, it would have been nice to know more about the changing of the guard before it happened. It is great how they pick you up any where you want. Thanks for the tour!

My wife & I really enjoyed this tour which visited a number of places of interest to us & gave us a 'feel' for Taipei on our first visit to the city. The changing of the guard at both the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall & Martyrs' Shrine was especially interesting, as was the stop at the small Taoist Temple. As mentioned in other reviews, the time spent at the Royal Palace Museum is only enough to whet one's appetite for a return visit. The other stop, at the Chinese Handicraft Centre had the feel of a hard-sell, especially during the 'tea ceremony'. For visitors looking for handicrafts in Taiwan, I would recommend a visit to the Taiwan Handicraft Centre which is much larger & has a superior range of merchandise available. The small bus used on this tour was the only one to have seat belts available for all passengers.

The tour, which includes the National Palace Museum, is an excellent way of becoming familiar with Taipei. The guide was very informative and highlighted some of the particular treasures in the museum. The tour is useful both for people who have very little time to spend in Taipei as well as for people who want to explore on their own later. The tour companyl is excellent and its focus on taking small groups is a plus.
