Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi and Bullet Train Day Trip from Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

Visit Japan's iconic Mount Fuji on Tokyo's most popular day tour, then return to Tokyo by famous Shinkansen Bullet train. You'll enjoy lunch on Mt Fuji, cruise Lake Ashi and ride the aerial cableway at Mount Komagatake for sweeping views of the celebrated Hakone National Park.

On your full-day trip from Tokyo you'll travel by coach to the Fuji visitor center to see cultural art dedicated to Fujisan. As you drive up to Mt Fuji's fifth station at 7,607 feet (2,305 meters) you'll be inspired by the beauty of the Japanese landscape. Lunch (if option is selected) is a traditional Japanese-style meal.

After lunch, you'll enjoy the crisp mountain air and Mt Fuji views while cruising Lake Ashi and riding the aerial cableway at Mount Komagatake overlooking Hakone National Park.

Your day trip to Mount Fuji concludes with a ride on the famous Shinkansen (Bullet train) super-express for the return journey to Tokyo.

At 12,388 feet (3,776 meters) Mount Fuji is Japan's highest mountain. Rarely, on clear days, Fujisan's perfectly shaped volcano slopes can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama, but views are always subject to weather conditions as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. Visibility tends to be better during the colder months, in the early morning and late evening.

It was a great trip well worth the money. The bus ride did not seem long at all and it was nice to take in the countryside of Japan. Unfortunately we didn't get to go up Mt. Fuji, but because of the crystal clear day I got some amazing pictures. _br/_ I would recommend taking the Bullet train just because...it's the Bullet train! Plus, by the end of the day you will likely want to get home and not have to worry about another long bus ride._br/_ This was a memorable tour for me for sure.

Web page reservation instructions were easy to follow and obtain. Trip itinerary was excellent - lake trip a little boring, however. Tour guide also got a little boring and had gave some confusing instructions regarding times to be back at bus, etc. But he was pleasant, friendly, funny and helpful. My niece from Chicago (who has used yours and other tour services before) and I who live in Okinawa (and have toured mainland Japan in other areas) would definitely use your service to book tours again and recommend you to ourfriends and relatives. Thank you so much.

It was a great experience and thank you very much for the arrangement. The only sad part was unable to see the Fuji Mount due to the heavy snow and weather

Our tour guide (Taki) was great. View of Mt Fuji was best from afar. Be sure to have your camera on movie before you go up to catch the Bullet Train so you can catch one at full speed.

The weather did not cooperate. Could not experience the wonderful views of the surrounds. The tour guide was excellent. Because of her, I was better able to stomach the waste of money because I saw nothing.

The trip was awesome! We were very luck the sky was very clear so view of Mt Fuji was incredible! Out tour guide, SAKANE Hiromi was the best. She gave all the details and info of everything and we learned a lot. Taking the bullet train back to Tokyo was an experience as well, I highly recommend it.

Amazing Tour! Our tour guide really knew her history with so many facts and so Funny! My family and I had an amazing time!! Boat ride was so serene and gondola ride was excellent! The bullet train was an amazing end to a fun-filled day! --Wish I booked the lunch package--looked great!

Pick up from local hotel was easy. The tour guide was repeating a lot of the spiel and had some interesting props (the mother in law jokes were still getting laughs from the American contingent). Nothing could take away from the sights outside so overall, accounting the Fuji, Cable car and Boat ride finishing with a bullet train ride are incomparable in a day's work!

The whole day was full of first experiences and hopefully not our last views of Japan. Our Mt. Fuji guide was a hero that day because Mt. Fuji was overcast and almost at the end of the viewing time she noticed that the clouds had cleared and sent us out of the bus to take pictures of Mt. Fuji and the Japanese Alps in the snow. The Bullet Train was an experience_br/_ along with the traditional lunch (definitely pay for the lunch). The cruise on the pirate ship was another first experience, a really fun day. Ready to go back.

This was a superb day out. Everything went to plan from our pick-up at a neighbouring hotel to our return to Tokyo. For your money, you receive an action-packed day full of varied experiences. However, don't assume that Mt Fuji will be visible. We saw it for about 15 seconds as the day was dull and very cloudy!! The guide was excellent and provided lots of interesting details throughout the trip. The return journey on the Bullet Train rounded off the day. All in all, an expensive day out but certainly well worth it!!

the guide was very knowledgeable about the whole trip. she was also fluent in english. It's just a sad thing that we weren't able to go to the 5th station of mt. fuji because it was raining. But i still enjoyed the whole tour.

V poor trip which should have been cancelled, could not see Mt Fuji at all even at the lowest level because of mist. Left in the middle of Tokyo with a rail ticket to find your own way back to your hotel. The main reason for booking was to be picked up and drpped off. Guide though was excellent.

Fantastic trip - highly recommended! You see so much in one day. Great weather allowed for some stunning views of Mt. Fuji - although recent snowfall meant that we could not go up to the fifth station, but overall no big deal. Bullet train back home was amazing!

They need to offer hotel drop off after the tour...Tokyo subway/train system is confusing. Tour was ok...not alot of time at destinations...too much time at rest stops.

A very informative and interesting tour. The sight of Mount Fuji and the bullet train ride back to Tokyo station were such memorable highlights of our visit to Tokyo. We were glad we had the meal as it was a tastier than the food we had during our stay.

The trip was interesting, but I think it is too expensive. The visit to mount fuji was a let down due to snow and unable to travel to the fifth level. It should have been clarified, as advised by the tour guide, that we were lucky to be allowed to reach the first level which normally is impossible to do so in winter months. If that is the case then the price should have been reduced. I would also like to suggest that a drop off points should have been included, at least to a centre point where the visitors can recognise the route back to their hotels instead of given guide to how to get back which can be worrying for first time visitors, like myself and luckily the guide was heading the same as myself where she assisted me to safely get back to my hotel.

Most enjoyable! Although we didn't get up to the fifth station on Mt Fuji, Katy-San and the driver were very obligingly in ensuring we were getting the best views possible. Thank you! First experience on a Viator tour- will definitely go on another in next overseas trip.

Do yourself a favor and take this tour! It was an experience of a lifetime. The mountain was incredible. We saw it from the highest driveable station. Then, when the crest came into view again, our awesome tour guide made an unscheduled stop to let us see it again. Then, there was a weather issue at the location of the river cruise, so she finnagled a different locale, which proved to be even better with wonderful views of the mountaintop as well. Mt. Fuji is awesome, and our tour guide made it even better. Thanks!

A good way to deal with jet lag is to step aboard this trip it is very well structured, safe and a good way to meet fellow travellers I was alone on business, find out about Japan a very structured society and very nurturing and feel a sense of the culture. I was surprised that I enjoyed it so thoroughly as I can be quite critical and even though I disliked the traditional lunch it really was very much part of the experience.

The pickup shuttle was great, followed by a short wait to get to our designated buses to carry on the tour. As I was travelling alone, I met many nice and friendly people, including our guide who spoke perfect English! Although we did not get to see Mount Fuji while cruising on Lake Ashi, we had already taken a beautiful picture of Mount Fuji when it was still clear earlier in the day. Thanks to our bus driver and guide who made an emergency stop just for us to catch that perfect view! Many jokes were cracked throughout the day which made the tour perfect, all the way back to Tokyo with the guide too who made sure that everyone knows the way back to the hotel. He does not take no for an answer, he made doubly sure. Oh ya! Do remember to ask your guide to introduce "melody road" and also sing the Mount Fuji song! What can I say The trip was puuurrrr-fect! Picture perfect!

If you only have a few days visit, then this tour is a must. Well organised and our guide was extremely informative and made for a interesting and fun day. You are on the go for the whole day and it would be good to have more time at the lake instead of 12 hour that we had. Bullet train ride was the best to finish the day. Scenery was fantastic and Mt Fuji awesome.

Great trip with a wonderful tour guide who gave a lot of information not just about the mountain, but also about the surrounding countryside, customs, food, etc. We found the information about the price of kimonos, the layout of a traditional Japanese house, typical meals, etc especially interesting. The guide also recommended a local noodle shop that we visited the next day. The food was delicious. One neat feature of the tour is that the Japanese have carved grooves into the pavement on the way to the 5th station that when driven over play a traditional song about Mt. Fuji. We were particularly pleased with the weather the tour company cooked up the day of our tour . The tour guide said it was only one of two times that she had seen the Japanese southern alps. The japanese meal was excellent as was the cable car ride, boat trip and the return by Shinkasen train. The only thing we didn't like was the cheesy advertising video for the company's other tours. I would have preferred a brochure and a shorter video. The thing went on for about 45 minutes showing every single tour that they do- we found it distracting, but not so much that we wouldn't enthusiastically recommend the tour to anyone else traveled to Japan.

This was a great tour. The ride through the countryside is pretty and sites at Fuji are very interesting. Boat ride is great, lunch is great, tour guide was fantastic. Be aware that Fuji is visible only 60 days a year but if you're lucky, like we were, it is even better.

Well organised, guide well versed in all aspects of japanese culture when she did not know the answer to a question, she found out and provided feedabck. Traveling time between stops was occupied with activities such as origami. In all, it was a memorable experience apart from the beauty of Mt Fuji and the lake.
