Veneto Hill Towns Small Group Day Trip from Venice

Venice, Italy

Enjoy a relaxing day in the beautiful hills of the Veneto, visiting the towns of Asolo and Bassano del Grappa, the Palladian Villa Barbaro and a prosecco vineyard. You'll stroll around enchanting hill towns, and savor the cuisine and wines of the Veneto region. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 8 people on this small group tour, ensuring you'll receive personalized attention from your knowledgeable guide.

Fist stop is the medieval village Marostica, where the famous living game of chess is played every September in even-numbered years. Your tour includes a walk through the backstreets of this charming town.

Next stop is  the enchanting Asolo, known as 'the pearl of the Veneto' with its delightful gardens and palatial villas, you'll visit picturesque Bassano del Grappa. Here, you'll take a guided tour of the town and have free time to shop for grappa (the local firewater), ceramics and porcini mushrooms.

A tour of the Veneto would be incomplete without visiting a Palladian villa. The Villa Barbaro is one of the most celebrated works by the famous Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, with fine frescoes by Veronese. The price of the tour includes entrance fees and a guided tour of the Villa Barbaro with a local expert guide.

Veneto is a land of good food and wine, and for lunch (optional) a local restaurant has been selected where you can taste the regional cuisine accompanied by local wines. Saving the best till last, the tour concludes on the prosecco wine road and a visit to a local vineyard. Your day in the Veneto will come to a close with a refreshing glass of local prosecco (sparkling wine) or two.

Really enjoyed this tour; the small group size was much more enjoyable and laid back than being on a full tour bus. Our guide, Marco, was sweet, patient, and helpful. There were five stops, which gave a nice taste of what the Veneto area has to offer.

Very good. A luxury to have only 4 of us on the tour. Our tour guide very knowledgeable and helpful. But also very relaxed. The tour took us to places that we would never have got to under our own steam. Some very pretty villages and hill towns, vineyards and villa.

this tour was good. the morning was great, with the grappa distillery. our guide however spoke very broken english, so i found it a little hard to concerntrate. i enjoyed it but found there was a lot of driving and not so much information or sight seeing as i hoped for. the hillside was magnificent though

Great tour because the guide was so good. Loved the place we ate lunch in Asolo. Loved the winery. Guide really got the group involved. Guide was very knowledgeable. When we encountered road work in a town on the way home, he knew a route around it. He was way off on the population of Asolo, however!

Most enjoyable tour. The driver/guide was knowledgeable, patient and courteous. The towns were beautiful and it was a very full day to visit some places that had not previously been on my tourist radar. The Grappa tasting was most pleasant and the variety was surprising. Overall, a very worthwhile and memorable experience.

What a great tour! Refreshing to get out of the crowds for a day - Giovanne took us to some lovely towns not on the tourist route (loved Bassano and the grappa tasting!),and with his unique delivery, entertained us all. The last stop at the Prosecco vineyard was a superb finish to a memorable tour!

This was a wonderful day out. The voucher stated a maximum of 8 for this tour, but there were only 4 of us, which was an added bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and this was due in no small part to our lovely driver / tour guide - Giovanni. He was friendly and helpful and gave us just the right amount of information. We had a memorable day visiting Marostica, Bassano del Grappa and Asole. Giovanni took us to a lovely family restaurant in Asole for lunch, where we had the most delicious meal of our holiday. This tour was great value for money and I have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone.

Unfortunately there is no rating higher than 5 stars. My only mistake was booking additional tours from my ship, from this day forward ALL of my tours will be with Viator. This tour was reasonably priced, outstanding guide., Anybody going to Venice this tour is a must do.

Absolutely fantastic. Our driver, Giovani and his trainee Marco were fantastic. The small towns we visited were so different and interesting. The local restaurent we visited was great with authentic food and local wine. The winery visited with the local white sparkling wine was excellent. It was a full day but very worthwhile.

We recommend a visit to the hill towns in the Veneto region. The scenery is majestic, the towns memorable and the history imparted to us by our guide Enricho most informative. There is a lot to fit into a small amount of time, but all of it is worthwhile. The visit to the Palladian Villa and bridge are worth a mention, along with the visit to the prosecco winery high in the hills. Marostica is also a most interesting place to stop.

What a wonderful day in Italy! The only negative issue is the use of an 8-passenger van where three guests must ride backwards - it made some of us car sick. This happened the day before as we toured the Dolomites. Imagine riding through winding mountain roads BACKWARDS! The drivers were wonderful and the itineraries were well planned. Hill Towns was worth every minutes.

Guide had to drive very fast to do the tour. Would appreciate guide wearing microphone as people in back seat couldn't her. No time to shop. Also, didn't think guide should be having wine with lunch and at winery stops when doing the driving.

Enrica, our driver barely spoke English which I find enfuriating when the company knew they had an entire van load (8 people) of English speaking people. He provided minimum information and drove 30 to 40 kmh OVER the speed limit at all times throwing us around the van, making us feel very grateful we had renewed our wills before we left town. It was a total nightmare. A hill town of course has some steep areas but I worked around it by just waiting for the group at a designated point. My husband told me I didn't miss much by going to the distillery anyway. What we did see was beautiful, including the town where they play chess every year using real people in Medieval costume. Here we were able to purchase Grappa, the local wine of the region. Beautiful, beautiful scenery and well worth the trip if you luck out and have a knowledgeable guide who can actually speak your language.

Enjoyable tour. Our tour guide David was very informative and attentive. A good tour to see what is outside Venice and to experience the small towns away from the main tourist areas. We found the directions to the pick up location not to be clear. Overall a good tour.

This is highly recommended with one comment - almost everything is closed on Mondays, the stores, etc, so I think they should not offer this tour on Mondays. Having said that, I loved our guide and where we ate and in general, the drive through Italy - really nice van!

What a wonderful day we had visiting the hill towns of the Veneto. We have visited Venice many times but this is the first time we have been to the hill towns. They are really lovely and their prices for food and merchandise are much lower than Venice. Our lunch at a local restaurant was excellent and included in the price of the tour. Definitely book this tour!

The trip lived up to advance billing in every way. Our guide spoke excellent English and knew his history. He briefed us for each stop and then gave us time on our own. He saw that everything went off like clockwork. A delightful day!

It's an absolute must to go there and explore the surrounding area of Venice! It was a really fantastic day! Many thanks again to the excellent tour guide. The tour starts at 9am from Tronchetto - there's no possibility to start from St. Mark's Square to Tronchetto as the first water bus operates at 9am! You have to start from Rialto to reach Tronchetto in time. We were "first-time Venice visitors" and a little bit confused and in a hurry, because we bought our tickets early in the morning at the booth in St. Mark's Square and in the acceptance it said to hop on the water bus directly at that station!
