Schonbrunn Palace Evening: Palace Tour, Dinner and Concert

Vienna, Austria

Enjoy a royal package with a self-guided audio Schonbrunn Palace walking tour followed by a three course dinner at Cafe-Restaurant Residenz. Within walking distance from the main entrance to Schonbrunn Palace and the Cafe-Restaurant Residenz lies the Orangery Schonbrunn where a concert of classical music with works by Mozart and Strauss will complete your evening.

Likely to Sell-out! An Evening in Schonbrunn Palace: Palace Tour, Dinner and Concert regularly sells out weeks in advance. Book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Schonbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the imperial family, is considered one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. The Habsburgs resided here the better part of the year in numerous rooms for the large imperial family in addition to representational rooms. Emperor Franz Joseph, who later married the enchanting Sisi and reigned from 1848 to 1916, was born here in 1830. The monarch spent his last years entirely in the palace, which became the property of the new Republic of Austria only two years after his death. Today, the palace is part of UNESCO's cultural heritage due to its historic importance, its unique grounds and its splendid furnishings.

There are four ticket categories to choose from: VIP, A, B and C, referring to the front, middle and rear of the auditorium respectively.

VIP guests enjoy preferred seating at the concert and will be served a glass of sparkling wine during the intermission.

This is a fantastic package. The tour of the palace was amazing and just long enough. The gardens are stunning. The meal was melt in the mouth, if a little basic. The concert was very enjoyable but there was a lot of music that the audience didn't know.

I feel that this is a bit overpriced for what you actually get. Food was OK and concert was good - dancers were more distracting from the music than good. Also it was pouring rain and very difficult to get from restaurant to the orangery.

Dinner was lovely, the concert was performed by very talented musicians and singers, however the White-Gold Room was quite bland and tight compared to the rest of the castle. The Orangarie may be better. If you intend to see the Castle on the same day, note that it closes at 4.30pm in Winter. Although March was a lovely time to visit for several reasons, it does mean you miss out on the beauty of the Palace Gardens, as the leaves have yet to grow back on all the trees.

The tour was great, the dinner as well. The concert was very nice, but was too commercial for my taste. But a very nice program to watch if you're a Mozart and Strauss fan.The orangeries where you collect your tickets is right facing the metro station if you're coming on U4. We missed it and walked all around the castle looking for it while it was just there! Don't do the same mistake and waste an hour!

We booked this on a recent 4 day visit to Vienna as it had proved impossible to book any tickets at the main venues. We thought the Palace Tour was a bonus but it proved to be the best part of the package. A superb palace, excellent audio guide and wonderful grounds which were buzzing with local people on a cold but bright winter's day. The meal was a bit run of the mill and was undoubtedly the poorest meal we had over four days. The Concert was a little too contrived and it must be hard for the musicians to turn out the same formula driven programme every night. But Schonbrunn Palace is definitely worth a visit, it reminded us of Versailles and the event gave us something to guarantee some music during a visit to Vienna. The other highlights were the Leopold Museum, the Belvedere, the trams and Cafe Central which became our regular haunt at the end of the day. What a superb city Vienna is.

The description of where to exchange vouchers for tickets could have been better, especially when it had to be found in a snow blizzard! No matter what time of the year you visit, there is a significant period of time from when the Palace closes until the meal. It would be easy to fill this time strolling the grounds, but only if the weather permits. But in freezing temperatures and snow this wasn't an option so we returned to our hotel for a while (and to warm up!) We couldn't find anywhere indoors and nearby worth visiting to fill the time. However, the self-guided tour which lasts nearly two hours was excellent with a really helpful commentary. This needs to be done no later than mid-afternoon. The meal was very good and the concert of Mozart and Strauss music was first class. Professional musicians (six of them), two dancers and two amazing singers. In the concert we had booked A category seats and we were three rows from the front. It was worth paying extra for this. Overall, the package was well worth it.

THIS WAS PROBABLY A GOOD DEAL, BUT THE FOOD WAS NOT SO GOOD...BOILED BEEF. THE TOUR WAS GOOD BUT A HASSLE SINCE YOU ARE NOT GIVEN SEPARATE TICKETS TO EACH EVENT UP FRONT. GO TO THE ORANGERY BEFORE YOU TAKE THE PALACE TOUR

The only problem with this tour were the instructions given at the booth at Schonbrunn. The dinner was wonderful and the concert was very diverse. We got a symphony experience along with opera and dance, formal and traditional. The palace was lovely.

We thought this tour was good value for money. Palace amazing and audio tour informative and not too long. Excellent meal and enjoyed concert. A good day. Dont make our mistake and walk up to the palace to get your tickets. You need to go to the orangery which is right opposite metro station to collect tickets and then go up to the palace.

The Schonbrunn Palace tour was wonderful and the Christmas Bazar happening on the grounds was extra treat. The concert was wonderful but the picture of where it was held it very discieving. The dinner was fine but they have this lovely dining room which was empty and the squeezed us all in this small cafe area. Many asked if we could sit in the dining room which overlooked the grounds and they said "no this is where you sit with the package you purchased ". I would do and recommend the tour and concert again but would not recommend the dinner.

The Schonbrunn Palace is spectacular! The dinner at the cafe was delicious, a typical Viennese meal with the delicious apple strudel for dessert. I am typically not into Mozart or Strauss but felt it was necessary to go since we were in the land of great composers. It was a wonderful experience and I would encourage anyone visiting Vienna to take in a concert!

This is an excellent tour - there was construction at the entrance of the Schonbrunn Palace, so a bit difficult to find where to go to pick up our tickets. No fault of Viator - the place is absolutely worth seeing. Don't miss this - it's absolutely beautiful.

The tour waws fine, but I do wish the Schonbrun authorities had made it easier to find the "Orangery" where we had to pick up our tickets , The concert had all the chairs placed behind each other, havetheynot thought that if you sit diagonally behind the chair in front you wouldbe more likely to see the stage._br/_ Music was good but could have been more lively

This was a good experience. I would definitely recomment the VIP seating as it is on the flat. The dinner was excellent, as was the show._br/_ The self guided tour was a liite crowded at times, especially when you came across tour groups. Well worth doing.

The palace is fabulose, getting the ticket on site is somewhat difficult because the office is not well sign posted. The dinner was interesting if not exeptional, the concert very well done, We would have prefered less concentration on Mozart operas and more on is synphonic work. After the concert there are lots of taxis waiting to take you back to town. Allow a lot of time to visit the garden. We did not expect the palace tour to be that long and we really missed the garden. Get to Schonbrunn by at least two o'clock than you will have time for everything.

This was an excellent package, in every way. We were glad, however, that we chose the "B" seating section, as the chairs are all on one level. A tip for those visiting Schoenbrunn with limited mobility: take the little "train", around the property on E6, and you see the entire complex!

The concert is excellent. But the dinner is so bad since the charges for drink were too expensive. The Garden tickets were not including so that I had to pay more money to visit the gardens. The rating is 2.

I never got to go around the palace as the directions to pick up the tickets were very unclear and "turn left" did not mean much when faced with the hugeness of the palace grounds. By the time we found this my 78 year old aunt was exhausted and we did not get to see the palace but the dinner was superb and the concert was excellent. As this was my birthday treat I was very happy to have spent it doing this event. Thank you

The Palace tour was interesting, and the gardens were certainly beautiful. There was a little too much time between the tour and time dinner was served. The dinner was tasteful and served very well. However since it was a very warm day, the concert auditorium was quite hot. There were doors to the outside where it was much cooler but those were kept closed during the concert. It was uncomfortably warm in the auditorium. The concert itself was well done. We enjoyed It.

The tour of the palace was very good - plenty of content and no time restarints. the meal was excellent too. The only negative thing for me was that the acoustics in the Orangerie were poor and this affected my enjoyment of the music.

Again, a wonderful evening. The tafelspitz was not as good as we had at Pachuka I missed the creamed spinach and the bone marrow soup, but the overall evening was quite special. Communications about starting time of tour were a little unclear. Still, we were very happy.

The Concert was amazing and we could have stayed another hour. Enjoyed very much. The dinner was very good and probably better than we had expected. However, the tour.....we could not find the Orangery and when we finally did we were told to walk back to the Palace for the tour so we did walk back only to be told that it was now closed. We were very disappointed about that and the closing time should have been made plainer on the information we were given.
