Washington DC Duck Tour

Washington D.C., United States of America

See Washington DC from the land and water on a unique duck tour! Traveling in an original WWII amphibious vehicle, this 90-minute tour takes you to the famous monuments of Washington DC before splashing down into the Potomac River for the most unusual ride of your vacation!

From Union Station you'll waddle down to the Mall, where you'll see the awe-inspiring monuments and fabulous Smithsonian Museums. Then at the Potomac River, splash down for a different look at the nation's capital. From the land to the water, you'll travel in the same vehicle!

Very educational yet light-hearted tour of D.C. on the streets and on the Potomac River. Gives an excellent overview of the city and might help decide the tourist which monuments and places to see in greater detail. I would recommend this for travelers of all ages.

The tour was very informative, however the boat broke down half way on the Potomac River, had to be towed to land. Tour lasted 3 1/2 hrs. we lost a major part of our day. The children enjoyed the whole ordeal.

Our party included 3 children and 3 adults! We learned facts about DC from 'Captain Wayne. We viewed DC sights through both street and waterway viewing! The clever option of 'kid boat drivers' and 'DUCK Quakers' offered provided unforgetable experiences! _br/_ Thanks, six VA visitors.

It was very informative. I enjoyed it. it wasn't as much "fun" as one I was on in Boston or Branson. There was more to see on this, so less jokes, and the driver just wasn't as "into" having a good time as my previous drivers had been.

The duck tour is an absolute must..you get more info for every building you pass. They let the kids drive the vehicle in the water and they loved it. You must go to Union Station to check in and they will give you a ticket with a time on it, so get there early. It is a first come, first serve basis.

We were not able to take the tour due to the unusual crowd for the "Restore Sanity" Rally. We were unable to reach Union Station in time ot catch the 4 o'clock tour. We had to be back to Union Station by 6 for the departure of our train back to Florida. My boys were extremely disappointed as were my niece & nephew.

I think the Duck tour would have been great; however, we had booked our tour for a Sunday morning which also featured a local triathlon race and a march from the Washington Monument, down Pennsylvania Avenue, to the Capitol. As such, many roads were closed. We did NOT see the Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Vietnam or Korean War Memorials, the Jefferson Monument, or Arlington. Our driver did his best, I think, to show us something--anything--but the tour was a real disappointment. Had we known that we wouldn't be able to see the usual WDC highlights, we would have tried to reschedule. At least our Bulgarian guests, visiting the U.S. for the first time ever, saw democracy in action with the PA Ave parade of protesters. I guess that 's worth something.

If a city has a duck tour we take it, usually on our first day. It is great fun but most of all it allows you to see the city so that you can map out your site seeing goals. Piece of advice . . . take the first one of the day and be early . . . the morning is cooler and the traffic is less.

It's overpriced. The water part of the duck tour is not fun because you can't see much of DC on the boat. I feel like the whole tour is just driving around, not showing anything. I will not recommend this to my friends.

After paying for the tour I printed off my tickets and discovered that the booking didn't actually mean that I would be able to travel on the Duck Tour on the day that I had booked. We had to wait in a queue from 8am on the morning of our 90-minute tour to actually get seats on a tour. The first tour that we could be allocated was 3pm that afternoon - and that was only because they had decided to put on an extra tour that day! When we asked at the Duck Tour Ticket Office what we gained from booking via Viator they couldn't give us an answer!! The tour is very entertaining - especially for kids who love the boat trip bit - but I would definitely recommend just booking at the Duck Tour ticket office when you arrive in Washington DC. This tickets gives you no advantage and you will have to queue anyway.

If you make a reservation days ahead of time you should be able to pick your tour time in advance. We had to wait 2 hours for our tour and had purchased tickets a week out. Other than that it was great, the kids loved it!

We enjoyed all three trips. Captain on the DC Duck tour was awesome. He was lots of fun and very informative. My sister and I learned so much from the tours. I would highly recommend all of them. I just wish we could have stayed longer and toured some of the buildings on the inside. Maybe next year.
