Welcome to Middle Earth. Your full day tour visits 9 different locations (including 20+ scenes) explores Mount Victoria Greenbelt, Wellywood suburbs, Hobbits surfing coastline and the gorgeous native forest park of Rivendell. The picnic lunch is world famous and you will go home with fantastic photos of Lord of the Rings scenes.

Your guide will take you into the heart of the Lord of the Rings, with the wealth of their knowledge, this brings the following locations to life: Hobbiton Woods, Isengard, Fords of Isen, Village of Bree, Rivendell, River Anduin, Helms Deep, Minas Tirith and Dunharrow.

The day starts with a journey through the outer shire, spending an hour walking through Wellington's greenbelt tracking the many scenes filmed there (including 'get off the road' and 'race to the ferry'). Take a drive through the South Coast to Wellywood, home to the actors whilst filming and the studios. After morning tea at the legendary Chocolate Fish Cafe (not included), drive north of Wellington to spend time amongst forests, mountains and rivers. The famous picnic lunch will be in Rivendell before you cross the swingbridge for a short native bush walk.

The tour includes a free souvenir map, elf ears for photos and a hobbit like storytelling guide for the day. Come explore Middle Earth for yourself.

Randall was a superb host on our tour of the LOTR filming locations, even if he does suffer from self confessed "Middle Earth Madness" Some stunning scenery and a great way to see some of Wellingtons best locations.

Our tour guide was great! He was funny and knew a lot about the the filming locations for all of the LOTR movies. He had a role on the film and shared many of his interesting experiences. I had so much fun learning more about LOTR and about Wellington!

We were disappointed in this excursion. They took us to sites where the film had been made. But, not seeing any of the actual props took away a lot of the magic. The lunch was nothing to write home about.

This tour was a great way to see the Wellington area. We saw lots of locations from all the LOTR movies and each was explained and a short clip from the movie was shown of most locations. There was plenty of time look around and even act out some scenes if you're really keen! Our tour guide also shared several anecdotal stories about the actors during the filming of the movies. The tour can be tailored slightly to your knowledge of the movies there was someone on our tour who had never seen the movies or read the books and gave you an insight into the atmosphere of Wellington during the filming. Morning tea and lunch were included and both were very yummy! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in the Lord of the Rings and arent staying in Wellington for long you really get to see the whole area.

Very interesting and enjoyable, friendly down to earth guide who knew his LOTR, and History and background of Peter Jackson's humble beginnings of setting the studio up. Great fun relating the sites to the film!!
