Grand Canyon Railway Adventure Package

Williams, United States of America

Step aboard the Grand Canyon Railway for a trip to the majestic Grand Canyon you'll never forget. Feel the rumble of a vintage train as the engine chugs 65 miles across beautiful Northern Arizona countryside. The train offers kaleidoscopic views of the San Francisco Peaks and rolls through valleys adorned in wild flowers, dense pine forests, high desert plains and small canyons.

The excitement begins at the historic 1908 Williams Depot. Before the train departs you will be entertained at a Wild West shootout featuring the Cataract Creek Gang in an outdoor theater. Shop in one of two gift shops, or enjoy a hearty buffet breakfast before departure at the Grand Depot Cafe next to the depot.

Then, hear the train whistle pierce the fresh morning air, beckoning passengers for a trip on the old iron horse to the Grand Canyon. Uniformed coach attendants provide you with white-gloved courtesy and service. Aboard the train, enjoy the tunes of strolling musicians who conduct sing-a-longs, an Old West train robbery, and the antics of western characters as they recreate train travel as it was back in 1901.

The train arrives at the historic 1910 Grand Canyon Depot, the only remaining log depot still in operation in the United States. Buildings like the El Tovar Hotel, Hopi House and Bright Angel Lodge salute arriving guests as you pull into the station and disembark from the train. A narrated motorcoach rim tour enhances your visit by escorting you to the most scenic overlooks of the Canyon. A hot buffet lunch is included with the tour.

The train ride was interesting. I don't think we really had enough time at the Canyon though. The Railway staff personnel were wonderful and tried to make the ride feel as short as possible

The trip was spectacular. The entertainment on the train was awesome. This is one of the few trains that employ professional musicians. The service was excellent. Of course the best part was the beautiful scenery!

The staff aboard the train kept us entertained to/from the Canyon. We couldn't believe how fast the day went by. We also loved the quaint town of Williams - very friendly people We are looking forward to our next trip!

I've been fortunate to visit the South Rim on several occasions. By far, the Grand Canyon Railway experience was the most relaxing. We loved the natural beauty of sightseeing from the train and had plenty of time to enjoy a walk along the S. Rim at the Grand Canyon. The staff aboard the train was entertaining and very attentive. We would recommend this tour and do it again!

What there's only 5 stars!! There should be at least 10 stars. This was a gift to my husband, he's never been on a train. Every bit of the trip really impressed my husband, the entertainment, the hostess, the robbers and the tour bus driver were well informed, and the bus tour was just about the best tour we've ever taken.

The trip was not cheap for $132.0 each but we had fun and feel that it was worth it.

When we got to the ticket counter, Viator had not completed our reservations. We spent a half hour at the counter and had to give our credit card again (with possibility of being charged twice) to get on the train. We were just lucky that there were still seats available. Completely missed the cowboy show. Train ride was good. BUS AND LUNCH OPTIONS WERE HORRIBLE. Bus driver drove around GC Village showing us Parking Lot A and Parking Lot B, the grocery store, the employee housing, etc. This wasted most of the time we would have had to look at the Grand Canyon. The lunch was the worst I have ever had!!! Because of the rediculous side trips the bus driver took, we were a half hour late getting back to the depot. We barely had time to run up the many stairs to see the South Rim and go quickly into the gift shop. Then we had to run to get on the train before it left. My advice to anyone - take the train but DON'T take the bus and lunch option. You can eat lunch at many places and walk along the South Rim or take the free shuttle bus around. Also, call before going to be sure that Viator has submitted your reservation.

So much fun! Robert was great. He saw to everyone's needs. He made everyone feel welcome and he was glad to share his knowledge. The train robbery was terrific! The entertainment was fun for all, young and older! I will do this again when I return for another visit! Great experience for reasonable price.

A totally wonderful experience the train staff were outgoing and friendly, the entertainers were dynamite. I upgraded to the observation car after booking, and highly recommend that option as well. Train trip went quickly great scenery, antelope, bobcat, etc. in sight. Food was great, seats comfortable and no hassles with driving or parking at the canyon! Bus tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable, we stopped at 3 spots on the canyon rim for short explorations 20 min or so each Very high winds and cold 49 degrees last week in May! when I went so be aware. All in all, a great trip!

The train ride to the Grand Canyon and back was great. It took longer than driving but I saw more than I would have if I had driven. Also there were no park fees to pay or gas. The tour was great! The guide/driver knew a lot and was very willing to share. The stops were breathtaking and very worth it.

Overpriced for a ride on an old train that was dirty and in need of repair. Fortunately, we were upgraded to first class due to a scheduling glitch, which got us a hot buffet. On the plus side the car hostess and tour bus driver at the canyon were very good. The picture leads one to believe the train goes into the canyon. It does not. My advice is to drive up and pay the park admission.
