Amsterdam City Sightseeing Tour with Optional Canal Cruise

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Get your bearings on this 2.5-hour Amsterdam city tour, perfect for first-time visitors. See top Amsterdam attractions including the Royal Palace, National Monument and Albert Cuyp Market, plus a diamond factory and windmill. If you have a little extra time, add on a delightful 1-hour cruise for a comprehensive introduction to this magical city of canals and gabled houses.

Begin your Amsterdam city tour by boarding your air-conditioned coach in central Amsterdam. With thousands of monuments and historic buildings, Amsterdam has the largest historical city center in Europe. The city is distinguished by its three rings of canals lined by elaborately decorated merchants' residences and warehouses built in the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age. When the canals were built, 90 islands were created, connected by hundreds of charming bridges.

As you travel through Amsterdam, your knowledgeable guide will point out the many fascinating sights in the old and newer parts of this beautiful city. Admire highlights such as the Royal Palace, National Monument, the Skinny Bridge and Albert Cuyp Market. You will also see quaint gabled houses, visit a windmill on the River Amstel and stop at a diamond factory where you can watch gems being polished using traditional methods. This last stop is an optional visit that will last approximately 45 minutes.

For a more in-depth Amsterdam sightseeing experience, opt to add on a canal cruise. Your 1-hour cruise takes you along canals lined with 17th-century merchant houses, centuries-old warehouses and churches with bell towers. You will also pass through Amsterdam's old harbor.

Whichever option you choose, you will end your introductory tour in central Amsterdam with a much better idea of all this dynamic city has to offer.

A nice evening but it was to include a walking tour of the Red Light District but they cancelled that portion and we didn't find out until the very end that it wasn't going to happen.

We actually did not signup for the canal part of this tour. Originally we had chosen Rijksmuseum after the sightseeing tour, but Viator messed up in the tour guides' system and we had to call the local office to get it sorted out. That being said, the tour group was very nice and accommodating of this error and comped us the canal cruise as a goodwill gesture which they did not have to do since it was not their error.

It was out first tour with Viator and the experience was too good. Amsterdam city tour with expert and friendly guide was fun filled and memorable. Our guide was not only informative but she was a knowledgeable person, we realized this especially during our visit to Art gallery and Gems factory. Observing view of Amsterdam while sailing in canal cruise was unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wish to be in Amsterdam again and again.

A good tour, certainly showing you the layout of the city. We got off at the Diamond factory and then spent four hours at the Rijkmuseum. Pre book tickets.

A good tour to see some sights but unable to get a large bus down some of the small streets. Which you would have to explore by tram and by foot. Was a little disappointed by the canal cruise as it only went around a main canal. Would havw liked to explore some of the smaller canals.

We got to see a lot of the city but I could have done without the 40 minutes at the diamond factory.

This was the most unorganized touring company we have seen to date. We got there some time before the tour was to start however, the tour had already left. They ask you and 200 other people to meet at this one small shop to start the tour. There are many tours starting at once and it was hard to figure out which one was the one we paid for. After standing in line for some time, the employee told us that the tour already started! It was before 9 am, which was our tour time. I loved Amsterdam, it was a lovely city and the people there are friendly, however, this tour company left a bad taste in our mouths. I would not recommend if you are looking to actually go on a tour.

The best way to get oriented to Amsterdam and all it offers. We took this tour on the first day after reaching Amsterdam. Our guide was very informative and provided useful tips for follow-up visits. After this tour, we went back and explored many of the neighborhoods on foot. I addition to the day cruise, we also took a night cruise and were able to see the light exhibits.

We thought all of the Viators where very good. A word of warning though. The bicycle riders are very dangerous and without exaggeration will run you down. Legal consequences for running down people walking are almost non existent. A must see is the Anne Frank House and the tour which also takes you around the countryside.

We did not think the time spent at the diamond museum and shop was that useful. It could have been much shorter and less of a sales pitch. Canal portion of tour was especially good. Really enjoyed it.

The tour wasn and #39;t the best. Tour guide had to go between Spanish and English----I felt we missed a lot due to her having to say things twice. Extremely crowded.

Missed the tour. I had trouble finding the meeting point. When I arrived it was too late. The tour left and I was still one min eRly. Had to take a hop on hop off.

The bus tour started our great but part way through the tour they parked in an underground garage for 45 min to allow us to see some diamonds at a nearby display??? This was not what we expected and we came back to the bus and sat in a dark bus for most of the time. What a waste of time and money. The canal tour though was super!

Bus covered ground well. Our guide had to talk in 4 languages. It was too much.he had to describe places long before we were there and did not point them out when we passed.

An interesting trip with good commentary but slightly hampered by more interesting streets being unsuitable for a coach. It would benefit from a walking section possibly instead of the diamond factory visit, but was otherwise good. The canal cruise is worthwhile.

Truly amazing- Perfect guide Mr.Edgar for the perfect tour. He has great idea about the place and his narration was an icing on the cake. Majestic Holland where nature has been abundant. Must do for tourists. ..Earth's Beauty descends the countryside Zaanse Schans , Volendam, Edam, Marken, Dutch windmills reflects national heritage, cheese tasting meant indulgence, and wooden shoe factory visit signified a legacy . Weather was outstanding. Christmas decorations at homes and shops added a flavor. Nice Hospitality of Dutch a point to note..In all a Relaxed and refreshing tour. Thanks Viator. Salutes to Holland.

This tour turned into a sales pitch for diamonds. We were captive in the diamond factory behind locked doors. It was not explained that this was just to sell us diamonds. I expected to spend more time learning about Amsterdam. Shame on Viator!

city tour was very good. We had 2 stops - one to take photos of a beautiful windmill and the 2nd at a diamond factory, that more than half of the passengers were not interested in. We sat and had icecream in the park while waiting for them. We crisscrossed around and thru the whole city seeing many beautiful sights.

We didn't fully understand that this was a bus trip--not really our thing, and it's sort of misleading. The tour guide was speaking 4 languages on the tour, so it's pretty hard to get much information.

I really enjoyed this tour as it was more personal than the hop-on hop-off tour. The guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Plus, I felt I was able to see some hidden gems.

The tour was really great and fun! The bus was punctual. The guide managed to explain in various languages to suit the tourists on board. We stopped for 10 minutes at the Windmill to look around and take photos. Although it's drizzling, but we get to see the windmill close-up. Our second stop was at Coster Diamond house. It was an informative and brief tour on diamond. I'm very happy with the city tour! Thank you. It's highly recommended...

While the tour went all over the city and it was great to see it, the tour guide's explanations were horrible. They combined the English, Dutch and Spanish tours on one bus so that the tour guide had to explain the sights in 3 languages the whole time. This meant he started explaining early. I still don't know which house was were Rembrandt last lived because it was so vague and we were still down the street when the tour guide started talking about it. I was ready to walk off of the tour 15 minutes into it it was 2.5 hrs long because it was so frustrating and I have been on many different tours in different countries.
