Above all expectations. A large comfortable motorcoach pick us up promptly at our hotel. Then off for the drive to Delphi and all the Greek history you'd ever want to know. Delphi was very interesting and historic. We then boarded another bus that was for the overnight group and stopped for lunch along the coast. This was the only complaint as this restaurant obviously catered to just the tour buses as there were no local patrons to be found and the food was expensive and not that good. Then it was on to the Hotel Amalia Kalambaka which sits on very nice grounds with a huge pool, deck and bar area. The rooms were very large with comfortable beds. Dinner and breakfast buffet included and both were excellent for the number of people they served. Meteora is a bucket list type destination with amazing monasteries built on the tops of sandstone cliffs with beautiful views of the surrounding Greek countryside. Our lunch stop afterwards was much nicer than the previous one. I enjoyed some nice lamb meatballs over orzo. The view of some rock formations that looked like it was out of Bedrock was cool. Our guide Joy was fantastic and a virtual encyclopedia of Greek lore, myths and history and spoke perfect English. Thanks for the drop off near dinner in the sky.

Highly recommend this tour of Delphi and Meteora. It is a long drive but worth every breathtaking view. Guides were very knowledgeable and the ride was comfortable. The hotel in Kalambaka is not a 4 star hotel, but is clean and good enough for a one night stay. Great way to see historical sites in Greece, other than Athens.

Meteora was mesmerizing - the spectacular monasteries on the rock cliffs - a must see if you visit Greece. This 2-day trip from Athens allowed us to see the countryside and we loved it. We stayed overnight at 'The Amalia Hotel' in Kalambaka - a nice hotel with beautiful grounds and indoor space and excellent food. The stops for lunch and coffee breaks were well chosen and enjoyable as well. The tour was operated by Chatours and they truly did an excellent job with everything - the bus, driver, tour director hotel and itinerary. I would highly recommend this tour!

Traveling time was extremely long, especially on the second day back 6 hours. The hotel stay was normal. You will have to pay for both days lunch at your own expense, and there isn't a choice of restaurants... you're sent to a restaurant and forced to eat there. The food especially on the second day was not good... expensive and not tasty. Delphi and Meteora were beautiful and that kind of made up for the long travel and terrible food. in my opinion, should give this 2 day tour a miss and spend the time instead at a Greek island.

Very interesting tour._br/_ Actually consists of two tours, first part was Delphi and the second part Meteora with overnight stay._br/_ The tour guide on Delphi part was very knowledgeable about history, archaeology, and all mythology related to that area, and views were breathtaking. Her command of both languages and how she was able to conduct the tour in English and in French in parallel was remarkable as well._br/_ Meteora is totally amazing, I am very glad I was able to see both places on such short tour.

Similar to other reviews, a long bus ride but you see incredible sites that you will not see anywhere else. The monasteries are amazing. Seeing Thermopylae is a bonus. Our guides tended to give long winded speeches at sites instead of moving along with brief descriptions and showing you more things. This was the consensus of the group.

The trip was amazing! Our tour guide Joy was very knowledgeable about the story of the monasteries and about Greek mythology, so she made the long trip of seven hours from Athens to Meteora very interesting. Visit the monasteries was a very mystical experience. The bus was comfortable but the temperature inside was hot because our driver, who is not friendly at all, does not want to turn the air conditioning on. That's the only reason I gave the tour 4 stars. Beside that, it was a great experience!!!

Loved the places we visited, too bad the time at Delphi was too short. Is a very big site, there wasn't enough time to enjoy it all. Hotel and meals at Kalambaka were very good, and so was lunch on the first day. Lunch on the way back from Meteora was not good at all. Probably the whole bus trip should be reviewed regarding stops, passengers behaviour, time to sleep and time to give info. The tour guide had a lot of knowledge to share.

The tour covers two places Delphi and Meteora. That is really nice. But, too short to stay at Delphi and didn’t go to Delphi Museum. My son is really sad about that. Our tour guide about Delphi trip is knowledgeable and told us a lot of stories.

I understand that this trip might not be for everyone. I went on this trip with my adult son and we both agree that this was well worth it but did have its pros and cons. Let me start with the cons. You spend most of the first day on the bus. The hotel in Kalambaka is not great. You do not have too many options of what to eat. Although lunches are optional, they take you to places that are really your only option as no other restaurants are in the area. On the second day the place ran out of options and I had to eat what was left. With this said, the pros more than outweigh the cons. The pros are Delphi and Meteora. On day 1 you visit Delphi. Although I was expecting the ruins I was pleasantly surprised by the setting. The surrounding area is beautiful and just enhanced the ruins. On day 2 you see Meteora. Although it is not as well known as other sights, I think it should be on everyone's bucket list. I could have spent all day just sitting up there and looking at the stunning views. Take this trip but expect that you will have to travel to see these two wonders.

The highlight of this tour was the knowledge and experience that our guide, Stathus, had. We also enjoyed not having to do the driving to the sites. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but our dinner was just OK. Overall, though, it was enjoyable and informative.

I would highly recommend this tour. Well worth the cost. Coaches were clean, well maintained and the guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. Delphi was stunning and the hotel we stayed at was a converted monastery which was beautiful. Meteora itself is a must do, it's amazing. You won't regret the trip :

The trip is not only eye-opening, but also very educational. Our guide for the Delphi Apollo Temple paced his introduction on the background on our way there, and told us about the history and events that happened in Delphi. He is one of the best tour guides.

It is a high complement that 10 hours in a bus over 2 days was worth it to see Meteora. Delphi was pretty good but, in the end, it is just ruins. Meteora is both unique and alive. The tour guide who handled the second half of the trip was outstanding. Really good communications style. She managed to find a modern, young, hip twist to religion and history in Greece while still being respectful of what she was showing us.

Seeing Delphi and Meteora were amazing experiences! The tour guides had lots of knowledge too! We only had just over an hour at Delphi so that made things very rushed to see it. Also noted are no bathrooms on the bus so they stop every 2 hours or so to let people out to use bathroom. It is a long bus drive, but there is good stuff to see. Bring a pair of long pants for men and a long skirt for women since Meteora requires it if you do not have these items, they ask you to wrap in their make-shift cover ups. Overall we recommend it. Everyone stays at same hotel near Meteora and it is fine, but the buffet food is just ok. Also we arrived at the hotel later than we expected so you rush to your room and then down to dinner. The two historical sites are truly amazing! Also stopped at site of the 300 battle and took a different route over the highest mountain in Greece which was really great to see. If you don't mind travel by bus, then you will really enjoy this tour.

after a scenic drive to Delphi, we were given slightly over a hour to explore the site. By time you navigated your way to the top where the stadium was, it was time to come back down and get on the bus. For those who stayed with the guide, they didn't get the opportunity to see everything in its entirety. More time was spent with coffee stops and a scenic lunch on the water. I would have preferred the time at the ancient sites, that is the reason I took the tour. By time we reached the hotel for overnight stay it was after 7pm. Early rise next day and visited 2 monasteries which were spectacular, however once again it was slightly rushed especially at the second one. The trip home was long, 11 hours for a 4.5 hr journey because another long lunch was factored in and 2 unnecessary coffee stops. Time that could have been spent at the Meteora Monastries.

It was a long bus ride, but had nice stops to stretch get a snack or coffee. The stop at Delphi was too short. Much to see there but felt rushed. The hotel was very nice and the buffet was great. Meteora was spectacular but very crowded. The panoramas were the best part as the landscape is unique. Overall the trip was worth the money and effort. A lot depends on the guide on a given day. Ours was okay, but not exceptional. Knew his history, but lacked character and enthusiasm.

The best part of this trip was meeting the other travelers. The bus was very comfortable, the stops were well-timed, and the sites were very interesting and attractive. The primary tour guide was ok. It would have been a more interesting tour if questions from the group had been encouraged and if more information on how people had lived in earlier times had been offered. The complimentary pick up at the hotel was quite chaotic - it involved our speed-walking with someone from the organization and other travelers several blocks to where the buses were stationed, and then there was quite a bit of confusion regarding which bus we were supposed to be on. The hotel where we stayed was very nice - excellent food, really good accommodations.

Great trip to explore parts of Greece we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise. Coach was very comfy, which made the long drives pretty easy. The sites are breathtaking and it was amazing to see the Greek countryside. We chose the 4-star accommodation as the price was the same. Not the flashest place, but keep in mind you're in rural Greece and it's only one night, so it's not a big deal. Same for the food, which was a bit hit and miss. If you really love museums, take the 3-day tour as we only had 1.5 hours in Delphi, but it was enough for us to see everything we were interested in. Meteora just has to been seen. Be aware that you are visiting monasteries, so make sure you have long clothing whatever your gender. Long skirts are provided at the monasteries for women only in case you didn't pack your maxi skirt. We had two guides over the two days - Dimetra and Joy - who were both fantastic and so knowledgeable. The drivers were both very skillful and kept us safe going through busy Athens and tiny ski towns in the mountains. Highly recommend this tour.

This package combines two of the most popular visits in Greece, Delphi and Meteora. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us all the background information needed to understand the ancient practice of 'oracle' at Delphi. After one and a half hour visit to Delphi archaeological site, we had a new guide and continued onto Kalambaka. The hotel was OK, but it was far from the town center. We realized the next morning when we went through the town center that it would have been much better in terms of ambiance or spectacular view of the cliffs if we had stayed in the town center. The visit to the monasteries of Meteora was also very informative with very good explanation from the guide. We made a couple of stops to view the rocks and monasteries from afar, but it would have been much better if we had a few more stops. The trip back to Athens was quite long 7 hours and tiring, but the trip was well worth it.

This was one of the highlights of our trip. Meterora was a top bucket list item for us and it didn't disappoint. Truly astonishing. This was my second visit to Delphi and it was amazing, again. The only draw back was the hotel. It was just average. The buffet meals were very good but the room was pretty sparse and plain, considering it was 4 star. The lunch location on second day was typical tourist fare...nothing special.

The tour was fabulous. The guides, we had two different ones, were very knowledgeable. The overnight stay accommodation was very nice. A few suggestions. The hotel we stayed at prior to was a listed pick up spot so we stayed there. It left something to be desired. The monesteries have a dress code that was not in the information given. Perhaps the description of the tour should advise people so they can plan ahead.

Again, a very positive experience with Viator. Having little time in Athens, we were most appreciative of being picked up and returned to our hotel, the highly skilled and safety-conscious drivers, knowledgeable, articulate tour guides and comfortable accommodation. Although we spent many hours driving, the tour was well organized, with frequent food and comfort stops. We enjoyed seeing some of the northern parts of Greece, hearing about its history, mythology and legends. The highlights: visiting Delphi and the historic Temple of Apollo, and the awe-inspiring monasteries of Meteora. Should the stars align and gods favour us with another visit to Greece, we would not hesitate to book another tour. It absolutely lived up to our expectations.

I was on another tour and wanted to see Delphi and Meteora before I left Greece. I signed up for the 2 day trip with Viator before I left the U.S. The two sites were wonderful but with that being said, I was not happy with the trip. One, I was originally told they could pick me up from the hotel I was staying at. The day before the trip I was called to hire a taxi to meet them. I was dropped off at the wrong hotel and in the dark of the night, I had to drag my heavy suitcase up and down streets asking for directions to find my hotel. Next...After driving all the way to Delphi, I find we have one hour and 20 minutes to visit the site and return to the bus.I had enough time to run up the path to the top, take photos along the way, run back down, have enough time to use the restroom and return to the bus for another long drive to Meteora in time for a late dinner and bed. Next morning was an early check out to spend a short time at just two of the monastaries, then back on the bus for a 6 1/2 drive back to Athens. I was looking forward to visiting Meteora and ended up disappointed with my visit.

Great 2 day trip. A lot of travel but worth it. The guide was very well spoken and knowledgeable. The hotel in Meteora while perfectly fine was far from being the 4 star it was supposed to be. That was really the only thing that took away from an otherwise very positive experience.

The Delphi site and the Meteora Monasteries were awesome places to visit. The guides were very knowledgeable and answered all or questions. The bus driver was fantastic in navigating the narrow streets along the way! The biggest drawback to this trip was the food. With all that Greece has to offer, the stops were sub-par. Even when were were 'on our own' for meals we had to eat at the tour operator's chosen stop. Dinner at the hotel after the Delphi stop was a buffet that was OK. The lunch stop in Kalambaka after Meteora was basically cafeteria food that was not very good. It would have been nice to stop in town and sample food from some of the local Tavernas while 'on our own' for a meal. Also, if seemed like we spent more time in 'coffee breaks' along the trip than the amount of time we had to explore and enjoy the Monasteries. Still a good trip - but some of the logistics could be better!

No trip to Greece is complete without visiting these incredible sites and going with a great guide will really make the culture, history, and pictures come to life. Katarina did an amazing job providing us with so much insight

Everything about this trip was handled in an exemplary manner. The bus, the hotel, the food, and the guides all were as good or better than described. Both Delphi and, especially Meteora are must sees if you're in Greece. The only change I would make if I did it again would be to take the 3 day rather than the 2 day version. The two day version doesn't allow one adequate time to really explore Delphi and traveling all the way from Athens to Delphi and then up and over Mount Parnassus, with a long haul across Thessaly, combines for an arduous day. We would definitely recommend taking one day just for Delphi followed by a second day just for Meteora and then returning. It would relax the pace and it's well worth the time! Big hooray for CHAT Tours who conducted the trip!

First of all Delphi and Meteora are definitely worth the trip. I would rate this tour higher except for the accomodations._br/_ Delphi was fantastic, not only is it incredibly historic it's some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see in April. Our guide for the Delphi portion first day was Stathis I think that is how you spell it. He was outstanding, gave periodic updates on the way there about the history of Greece and they were great - entertaining and historically very pertinent to our trip._br/_ Second day was Meteora - also a must see. The guide, Joy, wasn't as good, but very nice. She just didn't have as much historical knowledge or as good a delivery. The stop by Thermopylae was a great addition although it's little more than a roadside pull off. Not sure why the Greeks don't do more with this incredibly important site._br/_ The reason I gave this tour an average review was the accomodations - billed on the advert as 4-star. We stayed at the Amalia hotel in Kalambaka and it was not good - definitely not 4 star by any standard although I know the starts is based more amenties than quality, still who in God's name thinks this is 4-star? Think Hotel 6. The place looks pleasant enough, but the rooms were awful. Twin beds for the wife and I and they were hard as rocks. The sheets were rough and the blanket was a thin bed spread which was good since the AC didn't work and it was a little warm. Opened the window but there were no screens so we shut them to keep the bugs out. The wifi didn't reach the room, so don't fall for free wifi and the tiny TV leaves a lot to be desired. The bathroom was outdated, but clean and fine, just not modern. The light switch system required a Masters Degree to figure out. There's like 6 light switches on the wall, 5 run lights and one is the master - good luck figuring out which one it is. Tho hotel is basically servicing the tour buses and it shows. The dinner, a buffet, was also pretty bad and my expectations weren't that high._br/_ The food for lunch on the first day was bad, but what should you expect from a restaurant that also mainly services tour buses. the second day lunch in Kalambaka was better._br/_ Bottom line is the sites are a must see so you're going to have to suck it up. The other option was a 3 star hotel - I can't imagine how bad that one is. It's just hard to believe with the numbers these beautiful sites attract that there aren't better options.

The tour guide was excellent and you really did get to see some cool sites. The hotel Amalie in Kalambaka is way outside of the city center so I would choose the Dalia instead. Also we only nominally visited Thermopylae - literally 3 mins to take a photo of the monument so that was disappointing.

The tour itself was great, hotel was good, rooms were dated and the temperature was set too high 30C only regulated by opening the window. Hotel was clean, water was hot and the buffet was great at the hotel. The lunches destinations were truck stops at best, and the food was terrible and overpriced 32 Euros for lunch for 2 people at one restaurant and 39 at the other. We were rushed through the sites as most of the time was spent on the bus 1 hour in Delphi and 4 in Meteora. The tour guide at Delphi claimed that the stadium at the top of the ruins was closed to the public, but only said so because they had not planned enough time into the day to make it that far. The tour only takes you to 2 of the 6 monasteries, and the ride back to Athens from Meteora is long, stopping once for lunch one once for restroom/coffee stop. With this all being said, the lunch destinations were disgustingly overpriced and the food was terrible. It was shocking that these places were chosen expat living in Greece. Views were great, time spent at the sights was disappointed. The tour guide Effie for Meteora was great, but the tour guide for Delphi lingered at the first three ruins to keep the group together, which led to only seeing little of the site.
