I have taken many tours with Viator and this was by far not the best. There was confusion on where to meet the guide, who was late. It was a really big group with a large number of Spanish speaking participants. The guide was constantly trying to coral everyone and wasted a lot of time doing so. Amazing museum but disappointing tour.

This was the most disappointing of 8 separate bookings in 4 different countries I have experienced with Viator. I was disappointed for multiple reasons. First, the tour guide was late arriving. When the guide arrived, we learned that our group of four an 11:45 was being added to a group of 16 that had been touring together since 8:00 am. The tour guide, Anastasia, seemed rushed and flustered. Our first stop in the Acropolis Museum was a LEGO model of the Acropolis. LEGO's? Really? We spent 10 minutes of the hour and 15 minute tour in front of LEGO's while she quizzed the group about the Acropolis. The two earnest 15 year olds in my group were angry that they couldn't answer the questions because they had not been on the earlier part of the tour and were made to feel uninformed. Another problem was the size of the group. The accoustics in the Acropolis Museum were not amenable to a group so large. Guided tours there should definitely have 10 or fewer participants. Ultimately, we chose to leave the tour, read the sinage carefully and learn for ourselves. In four years of using Viator, this was the worst experience I have endured. Also-there is noline to skip in Athens at the end of April. Useless, uneconomical and annoying.

This tour was just not what we were expecting. We did expect a group, but it turned out that the group was 40! people - by far the largest tour group we saw there other than groups of school kids. Also, the tickets said the tour started at 11:45, so we dutifully turned up at 11:40, only to find out when the guide showed up at 11:50 that the tour is really at 12:00 she's not sure why they keep listing it as 11:45... but today we're going to be a few extra minutes late because we were waiting for a busload of people to join us. So much for saving time by skipping the lines. If you're comfortable going around a museum in a very large group then this could possibly be a fine tour for you. We're not, and split off from the group after a few minutes, so for us it was a complete waste of money.

This tour was a disappointment. After waiting for our guide 20 min. we rang the local company in Athens and they told us rather shortly that our guide would arrive soon. When the guide arrived we had to approach her to ask if she was our guide and then was told that we did not have any 'walkie talkie' devices so we would need to stay close. We tried this but eventually gave us and could not hear the guide at all. Viator responded immediately when we informed them of our problems which was great. I would use Viator again because they are responsive to the client's advice if the local company does not come up to scratch

Tour itself was great, but local operators canceled, rescheduled, and didn't give the best information on exactly where and when to meet. Just a little unnecessary stress after the long flights from Chicago.

This was a wonderful site to see. The tour guide shared much information and I like seeing a museum this way. I'm really in to Greece history. It was nice not to stand in line for a ticket also. :- I would definitely recommend this to everyone! Rick

Quite interesting, but the fact that there were too many participants with a guide without microphone made it harder to follow what the guide said.

Very informative guide. The only setback was that she started the tour before we got there, even though we got there on time. After a few calls she returned to pick us up so that we could rejoin the tour.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating since we arrived on the wrong day for the tour and she went out of her way to include us in the group for the day we arrived.

To tell you the truth, you won't really need nor a guide if you have knowledge about this nor a skip the line because there wasn't a line anyways. Besides that, it was such a wonderful museum. You'll love it BUT, avoid buying the ticket.

We had purchased the acropolis museum tour. It ended up being the second half of the acropolis plus acropolis museum tour. So the majority of the group was exhausted from their time up on the Acropolis. I think the tour guide therefore cut it short and did not repeat what she had already explained in the morning tour. But for the 6 of us joining at the museum the tour was light on detail and history and a little bit rushed. However the guide was very very knowledgable and stayed with us to answer about 10 minutes of questions. She was also very nice. It would be great if Viator offered a museum tour maybe of longer duration and more depth that is a museum only tour. Hints: You can only book outside guides for the Acropolis Museum. If you go to the restaurant you need your ticket to get back in.

The museum is amazing and definitely worth visiting however, we were there in summer, it was very crowded and our guide was hard to hear. Eventually we dropped out and went through on our own. The museum has done an excellent job of posting data and explanations at each exhibit and I got more by reading on my own. That said, the lines were extremely long and had we not purchased the tickets we wouldn't have probably had the time to get in.

We had a wonderful guide,_br/_ Evangelos, who escorted us through the New Acropolis Museum. He was very knowledgable and made sure to talk to all tour members. He shared fascinating insights into Greek culture, especially the swirling controversy surrounding ownership of Greek antiquities. Excellent!

The tour guide was excellent. We got much more out the tour with the background and context provided by the guide. An hour and half seemed like enough time but it was rushed. You can stay as long as you want in the museum but it would have been nice to have the guide for a longer time.

This was 50 minutes and not 75 as indicated. As we were on a group ticket it wasn't easy for us to move independently around the Museum because we weren't given our own tickets and there were guards (for instance to go to the cafe). The guide could have said more about the most important aspects.

The paper told us to be there at 1145, we were there at 1130 because we did not want to be late. Tour guide did not show up until 1210ish. She did not let us know we could only take photos on the 4th floor. She said we could on the 2nd when we could not. She spoke very quietly and had a very heavy accent and I could not hear or understand her. My husband told me she was just repeating what was said on the display cards. So we left and did the museum on our own. Very disappointed that we could have done it in the amount of time we waited for her and could have been done to go see other things. There was no need to skip the line, it was not that bad.

this is part of another tour, so if you are only doing the museum be prepared for them to be late, and the tour guide to rudely tell you to wait. - avoid this, buy a guide book and do it yourself!

While we had some difficulty finding the tour guide, the walk through the museum was great. I would recommend this. We later walked up to the acropolis and had a better understanding of the entire infrastructure because of this tour.

Don't waste your time buying in advance. Our tour guide was 40 minutes late, didn't apologize once she did eventually show up, and started off the tour by not letting us know we had to check our camera backpacks (strangely, people with larger backpacks and purses were let through without a second glance).

Didn't like being charged extra for access to museum country to the terms of the original purchase agreement. Tour guide was good however there were way tommy people on the tour and it became impersonal and difficult to hear/see the communication fr the guide

The tour guide seemed to be very rushed. It was almost like she wanted to get us through the museum as fast as she could and get on to her next meeting. The museum was very nice. I've been told several times that if you're going to tour something, it's well worth a tour guide. Not here.

The group was very large and it was impossible to hear the guide speak unless you stood very close together, which was very hot. I have no idea if she had good knowledge or information so we dropped out of the tour.

The Acropolis Museum was very interesting and well worth seeing but the tour was disappointing. Everyone needs to queue to go through the security checks on entering the museum so no time was saved there. We didn't need to queue to buy tickets so we saved a little time (short queue) but the tour guide was half an hour late arriving so we had a long wait. No-one in the museum knew anything about the tour so we thought it must have been cancelled and nearly left. We also had the awardness of having to go up to every tour guide we saw and ask if they were looking for us. The guide eventually turned up with a group of people and with very little introduction swept us into the museum. It slowly became apparent that we had joined a longer Athens tour as the guide kept referring to things he'd explained "earlier". There were many interesting things to see in the museum but we didn't feel we had leant much about the exhibits in this brief tour and didn't like being squeezed into the busy schedule of a longer Athens tour.

The museum is fantastic but the tour was mediocre. The tour guide was informative but the group was too big to hear everything and at the end we just looked around at our own pace. We also had to wait 20 minutes for the tour because it was an extention of an earlier tour at the acropolis and they were running late. It is probably better to actually do a tour directly with the museum.

Had a great guide. Didn't know when I bought ticket this would be included. Unfortunately, I had to wait many hours before I could be admitted to the museum. Thought I was buying ticket to avoid line which there was none.

You really need a guide with knowledge when you visit such a museum as this. We scored such a guide, it was obvious the guide had studied this era and was well informed and approachable to explain finer points. You can after the tour go back and look again at the points and issues the guide raised and really absorb the information the guide brought to light.

This tour was advertised as approx 2 hrs in length but lasted only about 45 minutes. Was very disappointing. There was so much that could have been talked about. I would never have chosen this tour if I had known it was so short. Basically a waste of time.
