I really enjoyed this trip. Montserrat was so very beautiful. We took the funicular up to the top and walked around for a bit. Then we went back down and sat on the balcony while enjoying a drink and the view. The wine tour was perfect. There was lots of history in the vineyard and the Cava was excellent.

I have taken lots of Viator tours and been delighted with them all until this one. First of all we arrived at the office as per the booking to find that the van was not there, it was in an underground car park which we had to walk to. Please note the word van. It was not a mini bus. It does say it is a van in the description but it hadn't really registered with me as every other tour I have taken has been in lovely luxury mini buses. There was no microphone in the van and so the little bit of information the guide was giving only made it to the 2 people sitting up front with her. Having a microphone is such an easy thing to arrange and the information would have been heard by all, which is after all why we book a tour. We headed to Montserrat and after being taken to see The Black Madonna we were given some brief information, a brochure from the tourist information office detailng walks available and told that the Funicular was closed beyond her control We were then left for 4.5 hours. The weather was not great but we took the cable car trip, visited the museum and explored the area. We managed to pass our time fairly well despite the weather but 4.5 hours would be a long time if you were not a walker or the weather prohibited you walking._br/_ We when left Montserrat and visited the Cava Winery. This part of the trip was very enjoyable - we visited Pares Balta but the tasting was a bit rushed because Anna was waiting for us. Really wished we had had a little less time in Montserrat and more time to enjoy the tasting. This wine tasting saved this trip but only just._br/_ We felt Anna did not really engage with us or any of the other tourists on the tour 8 people in total which was a shame. _br/_ Often the guides are part of the fun on the tours._br/_ This was a fairly expensive tour and we did not feel we got value for money

Great day with our guide Sergio from Explore Catalunya. This was a small group outing with only six in a comfortable large tourist van. Sergio was most informative during our approx. one hour drive. He provided tips upon arrival then left us to explore. The winery tour was informative and fun!

This was an amazing trip. The highlight is obviously Montserrat but it's nice to wind down after wards with a wine tour. We really, really enjoyed our time and loved having the few hours to wander around by ourselves. Cannot recommend this tour enough.

We were really impressed with this day tour. Monserrat is a place not to be missed. We were very luck to arrive on a perfectly clear day often the mountain area is covered in cloud and the views were fantastic as were the buildings and the Black Madonna. The tour of the Cava area afterwards was also very extensive and fun. Lots of grapes, wine and barrels. The tastings were beautifully managed and thoroughly enjoyable.

Montserrat is amazing however you have to let nature decide what will be the weather up there. It was foggy and drizzling when we arrived but suddenly cleared. The wine tasting was also interesting, using bio dynamics in wine making process piqued our interest. Of course, our tour guide Javier is awesome.

Great day trip. Alfonse and Sergi were a great driver/guide team. There's a lot to choose from up at the Monastery. I would have liked more time to do all of the activities, but there's only so much time in the day and it was already a long day. The weather was a bit doggy, so I decided to stay indoors and attended the mass I went Christmas Eve and listen to the boys' choir and then went to the museum. Had the weather been better the fog cleared earlier I would have either gone to the cave where the Virgin appeared to the boy or wold have hiked up to the top for better views. The museum was very nice and I enjoyed seeing the art both from Catalonian artists and about Montserrat. The winery was great, the hostess was knowledgeable and friendly. I enjoyed a white and a red equally and will be ordering some in the mail when I get back. I would unequivocally recommend this tour to anyone that will be in the area - plus it's a great way to get out of the city and see the countryside.

The tour was wonderful. The guide spoke in both Spanish and English equally and gave us plenty of time at each destination. Unfortunately, it was rainy and misty when we arrived at Montserrat, but the inside and the boy's choir was beautiful. The cava trail tour has exceeded all expectations - we were able to see the plantations, the modern and historical manufacturing equipment, as well as tour the immense storage area in a train buggy. It was also very interesting to taste the different types of cava and have them described - definitely made me want more!

We had the best time on this tour. I would highly recommend it for a day trip out of Barcelona. Montserrat was just incredible. I definitely recommend walking up to the cross or to the top if you have the time for an incredible view. Its a wonderful place to explore and make sure to stop by the street vendor for the cheese curds and honey. YUMMY! The wine tour was awesome was well. The tour guide was the sweetest and we learned a lot about the region. Bought several bottles to drink during the remainder of our stay : Chavi, our tour guide, was so kind. This is a good break from the city and so well rounded with history and wine. I would definitely recommend!

Enjoyable and educational. The Monserrat museum is very good, the hike up and down the mountain is longer than expected. The cava cellars are amazing.

I enjoyed this tour, but felt as though our tour guide did not really add much to the experience and in fact, detracted from it. First, Montserrat is a magnificent destination and well worth the visit. We enjoyed the visit to the monestary and the church as well as hiking some of the trails around it. It is absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide told us that the boys choir was going to perform at 1:00 PM, so we made sure to be back to the church at 12:45. We waited for 40 minutes along with others from our group before we were told that the choir had performed at 12:00. This is a major fail in my opinion. It is his job to know the correct information. We were disappointed by this. The visit to the winery was ok. Nothing special. If I had it to do again, I'd skip it.

This tour was excellent! Our guide did a wonderful job of providing us with the history of Montserrat while traveling on the bus. Once we arrived, he provided us with more specific information and then we had time to explore on our own. A site not to be missed! Amazing views! The Cava Tour was both interesting and a lot of fun.

Worth the trip- BUT there is a boys choir that sings at 1PM . It is VERY CROWDED. If you want to see the choir, and get to sit down, be there at least 45 min. before the program starts.

This trip was very interesting, and the monastery was worth the visit, but our group would have preferred to shorten the free time at the monastery, and then find a better lunch option between the monastery and winery. Pares Balta was great, and the small group tour and tasting were lovely.

Was a beautiful day!!! Tour guide Gloria was awesome.... My People!!❤️ My friend and I did our own hike at Montserrat to Sant Magdalena then bought local cheese and wine for lunch. The winery we visited was beautiful although one request for future is to start the tour with one wine tasting. Love!!

Enjoyed the day trip. Our guide, Steven, was great...personable, informative and friendly. There was about 16 people in our group. Get there early, it gets very crowded. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the boys choir at Monserrat. Steven told us the choir would only sing 2 songs, it was too short. Would have been better off spending my time walking the paths and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Cordiniu Winery tour was very interesting. We were offered two tastings of their cavas.

I was lucky enough to be with only 2 others on this tour - it was practically a private tour! Loved seeing Monserrat. We had ample time to tour the mountain on our own. I went on the funicular at my own expense hiked for 45 minutes, waited in line for the Black Madonna for about an hour to experience that and still had ample time to tour the cathedral and grounds. Also get a Mel e Mato local Cheese and Honey from the tents when you arrive or leave! Delicious!

We are so thankful that the tour waited for us to arrive - late! Our guide was very kind and made us feel comfortable quickly. The views from Montserrat are beautiful. We were so hoping to hear the boys choir, but they were touring. Unfortunately there was no organ or boys choir for mass._br/_ The tram to the top of the mountain was memorable. We purchased bread, cheese, wine, and cookies from the shops for our trip._br/_ The cava tasting is not quite how it is posted to the website. It is an organic winery that offers more than cava. The tour was OK, but the bio-dinamic ?? winery seems a bit weird.

Well worth it! We enjoyed both Montserrat and the Cava Trail. The ride through the Cava tunnels was a fun surprise for our family. Our guide was excellent and took time on the ride back to answer questions and provide dining and entertainment recommendations for us. We went to two of the restaurants he suggested and they did not disappoint...highly recommend this tour.

The trip was beautiful...the mountain and the scenery were fantastic, and the winery was a great tour to end to the day. My only complaint was that we booked an English speaking tour, and 1/2 of the people didn't speak English. It really took away from our tour and they kept talking over the tour guides. We could barely hear what was going on, and missed out on a lot. It was frustrating

Excellent tour. My friend and I got enough time to make the stop at two tram stations and check out the chapel up to hill and took amazing photo over the cliff. The cava trail is nice to include Spanish Cava and one of the oldest well established cava in the area.

After finding the Tour Office and meeting our guide, Anna, we walked a few blocks to the parking garage to get into a van. We had 7 going on this tour. Anna was very knowledgeable, fun and told some great stories. We all got along and it was a fun group. After an hour drive we reached Montserrat and walked toward the Monastery. On the side were vendors with cheeses, olives, nuts, honey to purchase so you could take up the mountain and have a picnic lunch if you so desired. You could also go into the cafeteria and eat ahead of time. We walked through the plaza and the winds were really blowing! It was a perfectly warm day and getting warmer, but windy. The views were spectacular. We all were going to go up the funicular, the train that lifted you straight up on tracks up between the two mountains towards the hiking trails. It cost 12.50 round trip. Wear good sport shoes or hiking boots, The gravel up some trails were slippery with the narrow paths warranted the right shoes. Their are bathrooms and benches at the top of the funicular. Many many trails to choose from. If you choose to walk down the whole way, it takes a bit of time. Try to get there early if you do hike. Our groups experience hit a speed bump...when our guide Anna, was called away, back to Barcelona for some kind of Van Oil Check by her boss. That put a bit of a damper on all of us since she was so informative of the site. We all felt we didn't get the full appreciation of the tour going with out her. She picked us up at a designated spot and time. We all missed her and wished she were with us the entire time. I enjoyed the tour because I didn't want to figure it out on my own with getting to and from Barcelona to Montserrat on my own. We proceeded by van down the mountain and saw the beautiful snow capped mountains of the Pyrenees. We drove about 30 mins to the worlds biggest Cava cellars. Their was a mansion that the family run winery lived during the early years. It was like we were in the old tv Falcon Crest series! Sprawling property and very interesting tour by Victor. A 15 min 3D movie short describing the winery from the beginning to today. If you love wineries, this one is extremely impressive. Headed down by an open tram to the underground cellars with thousands of bottles were stored. We walked down a few more damp, dark steps to another underground open tram. There, we drove through many underground paths until we came upon the tasting room. There we sampled the White and the Rose Cava with some crackers between sips. After our glasses were empty, we went up to the gift shop to purchase some of their products. Back to the van, we opened up a bottle of Rose Cava to share on the drive home. It is legal in Spain to have an open bottle of alcohol and drink it, only if you are a passenger! Not the driver! The drive back with Anna and the group was great. Got to know people from all over the world on this trip. We arrived back at the tour office in the evening, said our thank yous to Anna and the rest of the tour group! It was a very nice trip from the start. I would definitely recommend this tour through Viator.

Hi there we were in Barcelona for 8 days and wanted to make sure we saw quite a bit of the city and the area. If you are only in Barcelona a few days then I would not do this trip to Montserrat but concentrate within the city. The van was very comfortable with only two couples and one guide who spoke good English. It is not that far away either and the trek up the mountainside in was lovely even though foggy. Our guide was very helpful, had a lot of information and details. I like a smaller tour so you can ask questions, get as much or as little information as you want. We were left to our own to take the fenicular up the mountain and their were a few options on how to get back down and the length of the walk, or you can take the funicular back down as well. The cava winery was ok although interesting. I think I would have rather gone to a different winery in the area not cava.

I cannot recommend this enough. Montserrat is just breath taking. You could not ask for a more picturesque location. The Cava tour was fantastic, with a fascinating tour of the underground caverns of the winery, and a generous helping of different types of cava they sell.
