Budapest Parliament House Tour

Budapest, Hungary

When in Budapest, don't miss the opportunity to take a tour of the city's spectacular Parliament House, home of the Holy Hungarian Crown. You’ll discover Hungary's largest building on a guided tour and see some of Budapest’s finest architectural achievements such as the splendid Session Room, the Great Vaulted Hall and impressive central staircase.

Budapest's magnificent neo-Gothic Parliament was built between 1885 and 1902 along the Danube embankment, and was for a long time the world’s largest parliamentary building.

With 691 rooms and staircases stretching for more than 12 miles (20 kilometers), the building is topped by an elegant dome soaring 226 feet (69 meters) into the sky. Ornamented with white neo-gothic turrets and arches, the Budapest Parliament forms one of the city’s most outstanding landmarks.

Your guide will entertain you with anecdotes and historical commentary while leading you through the Parliament’s magnificent interior rooms with its many architectural highlights.

The tour was 45 minutes. It was interesting. If I had to do it again I'd book in country. Viator provided hotel pick-up and drop off--that's it--we met our Hungarian tour guide who gave us the tour of Parliament at a local tour office. Viator's Terms and Conditions are misleading as they do not mention that you may have to be very flexible. Our tour was cancelled/rescheduled three times and one, in our party of three, was unable to make the tour. Holiday time is precious and having to reschedule three times was a nuisance at best. Can't recommend this service as they don't provide service.

Interesting tour, but what you are getting by booking through this tour is a taxi ride from your hotel, and some waiting around. Unless availability is different, go direct and walk/taxi yourself.

This tour was a scam and completely unnecessary. The parliament is definitely worth seeing but there is no reason to use this tour. All tours are conducted by parliament personnel only. This is not a personal tour by your guide. We paid 50 per person for transportation to the parliament and entrance ticket and nothing else. The tour guide was completely useless...gave us no information. She simply escorted into the parliament building and handed out our tickets.

Another great tour. Crowded at the Parliament House, but our tour guide hustled us through the crowds and we saw the entire building in a reasonable time. The building was impressive and well worth a tour if you have never seen it before.

Amazing building. The tour guide was very thorough and enjoyable to listen to. A wonder how any work gets done in a building so beautiful.

The tour picked us up at the hotel. They took us to another hotel for consolidation. Then we took a large bus about 1 mile to the location. When we got to the parliament building we learned we could have saved all of the shuttles and about 60 of the cost by just walking to the building and buying our own tickets. Viator did not even provide the guide of the parliament building, they just shuttled us and bought ticket for the tour we could have done by walking to the ticket desk ourselves. After all our Viator tours this was an absolute waste!

Do this tour on your own no need to pay extra for the tour

The pick up from the hotel went smoothly as did getting us into the Parliament building. However, we stood outside in the rain waiting for someone to join us. The tour went find. The problem was that there was no return transportation to the hotel!! Since it was raining and we could not flag a taxi, we had to walk to the hotel in the rain. fortunately the hotel was only a mile away. We got soaked. It is adsurd not to have return transportation and with not notice of such. I would not recommend this company based upon this drastic oversight. Shocked and soaked.

This tour is a must! The Parliament is an amazing structure inside and out. Definitely not to be missed. Book early as it is a popular tour and the best time slots go quick.

This was a great tour. We learned a lot about the Budapest Parliament. The tour was the right length, nd our group was not too big. We could her everything the tour guide told us and enjoyed the tour immensely. I recommend this tour.

Amazing tour! Stunning view inside the golden parliament! Also, great thank you to the quick city tour we have before reaching the parliament, we were also given a great history by the bus tour guide too!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We were picked up at our hotel to meet up with a bus that took us to the Parliment. Seeing the inside of this beautiful building really made our trip to Budapest complete. Highly recommend this tour. Book early I think it sells out!

Fun experience. Very interesting to go into a highly guarded building. I think the building has around 690 rooms and we're able to see maybe 6 or so.

The guide was really interesting. You can get information reading books but it's not the same. The guide, she, gave us a lot of information about history. We could make a summary and remember what we read. The most important when you have a guide is to make links with the present time and compare opinions with a European point of view and from different countries.Really appropriate and instructive.

We are glad we not only saw the building from the outside, but also the interial. Walked through the magnificent hall and saw the emperor crown with a bent cross and to hear the story behind it. Wonderful experience. Just the entry ticket price is too high for non eu visitors.

This was a very good way to tour the Parliament House. They pickup us up at our hotel right on time. Introduced us to our guide who gave us a tour and information about the Parliament House from the outside then got our tickets and helped us join an English speaking tour. It was a seamless way to be sure you got to tour this important site in Budapest.

An impressive building that is a bit over the top for a parliament house. I was a beautiful monument to behold. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and receptive to questions.

The tour was well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The down side was trying to arrange hotel pick-up for transport to the Parliament. Neither us nor the hotel staff could reach anyone at the contact info provided so we ended up taking a taxi. Customer service didn't know about the voucher

Since you cannot get inside and roam around on your own, highly recommend this tour. However, our guide at the central meeting point and who took us to the entry point was rather disorganized. She handed us off to an official guide inside, who was excellent. This is one of the outstanding highlights of any first-time visit to Budapest!

Not to be missed. We had an excellent tour guide and were given plenty of time to take photographs. An amazing building.

This trip I would rate a 2. Too expensive for what it covered. The bus picked us up from the hotel which was less then a mile to the Parliament The tour guide was not very knowledgeable as we walked up to the Parliament. She brought the tickets for admission and then that was the end of her role. You are better off getting to the parliament yourself and buying general admission tickets. Cheaper and same effect. The parliament offers a tour guide with the price of admission.

It was a pleasure to see this magnificent building particularly as the English commentary was so informative. I would strongly recommend this tour

We booked through Trip Advisor so had to make an international phone call to confirm. Even waited till we got to Budapest thinking it would be local there, but it was still international-bummer. The taxi pickup was fine. The 10 minute bus ride to the Parliament certainly wasn't worth the money. Our guide gave us a short talk and then we did the parliament tour. Our tour guide there who wasn't part of the Viator tour was mediocre at best. Then we were left there at the Parliament Building after the tour. All the websites said you couldn't get a tour if you went directly to the Parliament because the lines were so long. Our observation was that the lines were minimal and getting a tour at a fraction of the price of Viator would have been a much better option.

Parliament is not to be missed when in Budapest. It is truly a remarkable building, and the English guide inside the building was wonderful. The guide who met us outside, however, had us waiting in the center of the plaza in the heat while he translated into three languages, and once inside the building, we couldn't hear what he was saying about how to enter, pick up our headsets, and meet the guide. The central lobby was filled with tour groups and numerous tour guides speaking to their groups. I sort of wished I had just gone there on my own and not paid extra for the Viator tour, until I noticed that all the tickets for entrance to the Parliament had been sold out for the day.

Don't waste your money on this tour. Go straight to the Parliament House and buy your own ticket and tour. The only thing this tour does for you is drive you four blocks closer to the parliament house from the pick up point. The Parliament House is extraordinary! Go see, but on your own.

If you think it looks spectacular from the outside, you should see the inside!_br/_ I had a 9.15am pick-up for the guided tour of Parliament House. It is the second largest in Europe and third largest in the world and well worth the admission price. The building is a magnificent example of gothic architecture. Décor is very ornate with hand-made silk carpets, stained glass, wood carvings, elaborate woodwork, murals, tiles, lots of gilding and chandeliers. Truly a WOW experience. We were allowed entry into the lower house chambers, and had an excellent commentary. Under the main dome is the only place that photography is not allowed because its where the Hungarian crown is stored the crown itself is rather underwhelming but the guards put on an impressive show and every now and again, shouting and twirling their shiny silver swords. _br/_ Enjoyed the walk back along the Danube afterwards and passed the shoes along the Danube memorial. It honours the people mainly Budapest Jews who were killed by fascist Hungarian Arrow Cross militiamen during WWII. They were ordered to take off their shoes, and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river._br/_ Make sure you also see the building illuminated in the evening.

Told to be waiting at hotel for pick up at 12:45 and scheduled for 1:15. Not picked up until 1:30 so even though had confirmed pick up that morning thought they had forgotten us. Did get into parliament tour at 2:00._br/_ Guide on bus hard to understand and when walking to parliament buildings had no microphone so could not hear what she was saying._br/_ The guide in the parliament buildings was informative.

Worst part of this was the hotel pick up and then gathering up everyone in common location afterwards before going to Parliament. That adds like 1.5 hours to the tour and the actual tour is only 40 mins. Disappointing way to waste time in such a beautiful city. The parliament tour is nice though. Just go directly to parliament to book.

Picked up on time and taken to the office where the tour begins intercontinental hotel which gave us the opportunity to sit and have a drink prior to starting. REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR PASSPORT / ID _br/_ It was busy when we went in Feb which is out of season so I dread to think how manic it may be in peak months - beautiful building and interior - when you are told to move 2 metres away from the guards where the crown is -- do so : they swing their swords around in a ritual every 15 minutes

Enjoyed the parliament tour. Beautiful interior. Weird set up with the tour guide. Got on a coach for 5 mins to the building, walked us around the outside for 15 mins explaining the buildings/statues, brought us the tickets and the it took us 15 mins to get through the line for security where she left us. If you are able to get your own tickets, don't see the point of doing this tour via outside agency, just book yourself.

Best part of using this service is that it guarantees entrance to the Parliament...other than that, all they provide is transportation to the Parliament and a little commentary while they take you inside, hand you your ticket, and guide you to security where your tour guide for the Parliament takes over. When we were leaving the tour was sold out for the day Sunday so may be worth while to book in advance at a slightly higher cost.

I am a history buff, and had read from Rick Steve's it was a must see! Though I did enjoy seeing Parliament every bit as much as I had hoped, it was no where near the experience I had imagined. For this tour, we met with our tour guide and 20 others at a hotel, THEN got on a bus to pick up 2 more guests, THEN got off the bus about 3 blocks from the actual building. THEN waited for others in our group not U.S. or German citizens who had to wait in a separate line and show their passports, THEN get in the security check line. Ok, we're finally in! However, this part of the tour only last maximum of 30-35 minutes and the tour was over. _br/_ Overall it was great to get inside the Parliament building period and see the crown jewels, main entrance, etc. I don't know if I would spend this amount of money again however for such a brief tour.
