St Lucia Shore Excursion: A Tour of St Lucia

Castries, Saint Lucia

Get a fascinating look at the island of St Lucia on this shore excursion. Your time in port will start with a drive to the town of Soufriere to see the famous Pitons. Continue through banana plantations, fishing villages and tropical rainforests. Visit the Sulphur Springs, and Morne Coubaril the island’s only working plantation where you will stop at a local copra house to see how coconut is processed.

Your time in port in St Lucia is precious, so see the top sights on this shore excursion. The tour starts with pickup at the cruise port, followed by a drive through banana and coconut plantations and past the sleepy fishing villages of Anse La Raye and Canaries.

You’ll continue along the island's west coast to the charming town of Soufriere. You’ll see the famous Pitons, a pair of World Heritage-listed volcanic plugs that are one of St Lucia’s most celebrated sights, and you’ll visit Sulphur Springs, the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano.

Then visit the island’s only working plantation with interesting practices of bygone days all within a traditional village setting. After, you'll be transferred to the cruise ship port.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to Castries for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. See our terms and conditions for full details.

We enjoyed a great tour of beautiful St. Lucia with guide, William and driver, Phil. Our party of 7 shared a van with a family of 4. There were lots of photo opportunities along the way. We stopped at a roadside stand among a banana plantation where we sampled banana ketchup and BBQ sauce, etc., and received a lesson on the life cycle of the banana plants. We then continued on our journey to a small seaside village, then on to Soufrière and the Pitons. Be prepared for mountainous driving on switchback roads for 2 h each way. At the Pitons, we were given a tour of the active volcano site. You could also see where people were doing the mud/mineral baths, but we did not have time to partake. Next, we visited an active plantation where we learned about cocoa plants and how chocolate is made, sugar cane processing, sampled fresh coconut water and had a glass of fresh fruit juice. Return trip through windy roads, but beautiful scenery and views of the rainforest and ocean villages. We had no problem locating our guide as soon as we got off our cruise ship red golf shirt holding a sign with my name. Tour began approx. 8:30 a.m. and ended around 2:30 p.m. Would have been nice if tour included lunch or an option to stop for lunch on our own, as we were all getting very hungry by afternoon. All-in-all, a great informative tour of beautiful St. Lucia with a great tour guide and driver!

Our cruise ship anchored and we got on the first tender possible. After fighting all the chaos at the terminal and not finding our Viator contact, we found out at the information booth that our tour had left without us !! We then found a taxi tour which turned out to be just fine. Had a nice time in St. Lucia although were very frustrated in the beginning trying to find our tour.

Excellent guide, Good tour with lots of great scenic stops. The botanical garden and waterfall were worthwhile. Would be nice to have some stops on the way back instead of driving the whole way back.

This was an amazing trip with Samuel. It turned into a private tour but we didn't miss anything out. The sights were incredible and Samuels knowledge 2nd to none .

This tour gives a good overview of St Lucia. The driver was knowledgeable, the vehicle clean and well kept. The trip included visiting the volcano and also Morne Coubaril Estate, which is a representation of a cocoa plantation. The return trip is the same as to the destination which I found a little boring and could be improved by the driver sharing more information and talking on the way back to the city.

Wonderful tour of the island. The stop at the plantation was informative and the drive to the Pitons and the volcano was interesting.

The driver was incredibly friendly. However, it took a VERY long time to find him. He had gotten stuck in all the traffic around the cruise ship dock. He also did not take us to the mudbath or waterfall. I would not recommend this tour. Also, the drive to the Pitons is LONG.

We were in St Lucia for one day and we got to see two main points of interest plus amazing views of the Pitons and Marigot bay. The tour is 5 hours long though so each stop is short and you don't get to try the mud baths. If you would like a more personalised tour, go for something else.

Sammy gave us a pleasant trip around the island. Good local knowledge and a very interesting place. The Banana plantation was interesting and their guide Severa was really good. She was pleasant, had a good sense of humour and provided us with a good insight into the workings of the plantation in by gone days.

The tour was wonderful. I love seeing different parts of the island. I especially enjoyed the plantation visit and learning about the plant and trees there. I would recommend this tour to anyone. I felt save in the areas we visited. I would have enjoyed having more time at the stops, but our time was limited by the cruise ship.

Our tour guide had an encyclopedic knowledge of his home, of which he is obviously very proud. We stopped at a roadside stand to sample some of their delicious bananas, picked right off the tree, and learned it's their biggest export. The volcano and mud baths were very interesting, but for sheer beauty, the stop at the botanical gardens is a must do. Spend a few extra bucks and enjoy a dip in the same geothermally heated pools of water that Napoleon's empress, Josephine used. The local vendors are very aggressive, but generally polite. St Lucia is mountainous, so if you get car sick, be prepared for a drive with lots of switchback roads. However, those same roads offer some spectacular views.

Disappointing. Not much to see at the volcano only a couple if steam vents. Mudd bath wasn't included but we snuck in anyway. Waterfall wasn't included, we were taken on a boring plantation tour instead. Guide took us to vendors where we felt obligated to buy things we didn't want.

Excellent private, air-conditioned tour of St. Lucia with a very knowledgeable professional local guide. Great overview of the main tourist attractions on the island. Our favorite stop was the Morne Coubaril plantation; we saw the traditional methods for cocoa production, coconut processing and some gorgeous flora and fauna.

Loved all of it! My favorite part was getting to sample the local food items and getting hands on with some of the produce... Stop for a loaf of locally baked bread, the flour, the cocoa plantation, etc. the scenery was stunning. Would definitely recommend this tour

Although there was a mix up over pick up and we had to ring to sort out the actual tour covered all the best bits of St Lucia and our driver Stan was both knowledgeable and good company.Overall a good trip

There was a delay( about 20 minutes) in the driver picking us up from the port but once he got going ther was no stopping him. He was very informtive and stopped alot so we could take pictures and show us local fruit and things. There was only 4 of us on the tour so it felt very personalized for us. The tour was supposed to last 4.5 hours and i think it was closer to almost 6. It was great, I would definately recommend this tour.

The tour was lovely EXCEPT they did not pick us up at our tour cruise pier as we had reserved and re-confirmed. They were a no show and until a local information person helped us contact the tour agency, we were stuck!!!

Mostly good tour. Guide was very nice but too soft spoken and difficult to understand. We put my daughter up front to "interpert" for the rest of us. Didn't like that we had to tip every guides at every stop (botanical gardens and volcano) - seemed as though we already paid enough for the tour that it should have been covered - also the tip for the tour guide. There was no lunch stop or opportunity to get anything. If food not included, at least should have had the opportunity to purchase something along the way - I was glad I had some fruit and snacks with me. Description sounds like there will be a lunch stop at your expense but not the case, even when it was requested by one of the men on the tour. Otherwise, very nice tour - we saw a lot.

I recommend seeing all of the places on this tour, but beware that the roads wind through very steep hills and you may get stuck in the back of a van for ~3 hours. Wasn't a big deal for us as we were busy looking at all of the great sights and we don't get motion sickness, but near the end I was ready to get out. I could have done without the plantation tour and rather taken a mud bath at the volcano sight (which was very cool).
