No matter what cruise ship you arrive on, this is the perfect do-it-yourself shore excursion in Copenhagen. Find out why they call it 'wonderful Copenhagen' on this City Sightseeing hop-on hop-off tour of Denmark's vibrant and graceful capital. You'll get a bird's eye view of Copenhagen's swirling towers and turrets, not forgetting the Little Mermaid to whom sailors appealed for forgiveness of their sins while they were in port! There are three routes available and each route takes approximately one hour.
The City Sightseeing bus departs regularly from each stop and your ticket is valid for 24 hours from first use. The nearest stops to the cruise port are Stops 8 and 9, however you may board the bus at any of the stops around the city.
Mermaid Tour
The entire tour takes 1 hour and you will see such highlights as: Amalienborg Palace, The Little Mermaid and Rosenberg Castle.
Combination Tour (May 15 to September 15)
Carlsberg Tour - The entire tour takes 1 hour and you will see such highlights as: The Zoo, Carlsberg Breweries, Frederiksberg Castle and the Theater district.
Christiana Tour - The entire tour takes 1 hour and you will see such highlights as: Tivoli, The Black Diamond and Christiania.
You may choose the Mermaid Tour or the Combination tour which will combine all three routes and is valid for 48 hours! This excursion is located within a 20-minute walk to the cruise port, so you determine the time you return to your ship in Copenhagen. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the excursion and ensure your timely return to the port. This excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy
I would look for the other hop-on and hop-off tour company. It was very confusing, as we were only allowed to use buses that said stromma on them, even though all the buses were red and said hop-on hop-off on them. These buses ran much less frequently than the other bus line. We had limited port time, and their first pick up time was 10:00 a.m. Viator also only sold a two day pass, which would include a river tour, which is ridiculous when you only have a few hours in port. We did not have the time to do more than loop around the city once. You may want to research this one more carefully before booking, it was a waste of money the way we did it.

Transferred from cruise terminal to the centre of Copenhagen for the hop-on hop-off tour, immediately supplied with ear phones for the full experience of the history of Denmark. Very friendly drivers and comprehensive map of the city. Whilst the little mermaid is an iconic symbol of Copenhagen, take time to walk around the nearby park and windmill.

We took the Hop On Hop Off tour in Copenhagen. We took a shuttle bus to a central location and switched to the Red Bus. The traffic was so horrendous that we never made it around one loop by the time we had to go back to our ship. We had wanted to see the Old Town and when we ask the agent which stop to get off, she had directed us to the Shopping Promenade....something we can find anywhere!! _br/_ So....our whole day was spent in very frustrating traffic, on a shopping promenade where we spent 60 for a terrible lunch and then finally catching a glimpse of the Little Mermaid before rushing back to the ship.

Using the Hop-on Hop-off to see Copenhagen was a great way to get around and hear a narrative of the city at the same time. Using the hop-on hop-off as a mode of transportation and hearing historical information about the city is priceless. The Hop-on Hop-off was a great way to people watch at the same time. I would use the hop on hop off offered by Viator again if any city around the globe if it was available.

Hop-on-hop-off good idea but one we took took forever and was not well organised. We took very long time to go very little space. Commentary didn't sync with where we were. I rate it 3 stars.

Vey expensive and totally not worth it! Drivers were friendly and helpful, but they ran very rarely, so if you got off at one stop, then you had to wait about an hour in the freezing cold! for the next bus. There were road works in quite a few places, so some of the stops were missed out. There was not much of interest to see on the bus. Would have been much more economical to take the regular city bus. I would not recommend certainly not in the winter and I would not pay that much for the trip.

Our cruise liner was docked until 23.59 from 8.00 a.m. But the hop on hop off buses were very disorganised and stopped running at 17.00p.m Thus a waste of the evening or we had to find our own transport even as early as 19.00pm very disappointed by the hours of use.Rate zero

A good way to get around Copenhagen provided you are not in a hurry. Spent a lot of time waiting in very chilly conditions for the next bus to arrive. Also spent a lot of time sitting in gridlocked traffic while on the bus.

Definitely the easiest way to get around to see all the sights in Copenhagen. When the cruise ships are in port it makes all the bus lines extremely busy (thank goodness they were only in port for one day). This company is endorsed by the information centre and tourism dept. Beware of other companies operating buses like this in copenhagen. They are not supported by the city of copenhagen and are operating without a license.

It turned out that the Hop-on Hop-off tour included the canal tour as well, which I had bought separately as well. Oh well. The canal tour is outstanding, though you do have to bake in the sun. The Hop-on Hop-off tour buses only ran every 1/2 hour can can make for long waits and wasted time. In the busy August vacation month the buses were also very crowded and we sometimes had to stand; note that standing is not allowed on the upper deck. The Hop-on Hop-off tour buses came out to the new cruise ship docks some distance out in a tacky industrial area; inbound it was one of the regular bus runs, but in the late afternoon we had to change to a shuttle bus.

Absolutely appalling!! Buses were waiting on the docks, but no one knew where they were going or when. Could not even tell us if it was a shuttle bus to a hop-on hop-off stop or not. Ended up sitting on the wharf for over an hour! Hundreds of passengers off the Queen Victoria also got on (no pre-booking). Later in the day there were no buses for over an hour. Saw virtually nothing of Copenhagen and wasted my only time there as I will probably never get back there.

The buses were very comfortable. The speakers worked well, but the driver failed to tell you what station you needed. As a result, much time was lost and passengers had to use a hit and miss approach and lost valuable input as to what you were seeing. The bus stops were also very confusing. Compared to other hop on and hop off, this Copenhagen did not meet the usual high standards of the others we have taken from Viator.

The buses were waiting right on the pier and this was a great way to get a feel of the city. The bus stopped at the Little Mermaid for 5 minutes to give people time to take a picture and continue on with the same bus. You didn't need more that that. We stopped at a couple of places, took two full tours on different routes and if you have limited time this is really the answer to the problem. You can't do more than that in one day and it was just enough to let us decided if we wanted to return or not. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience but probably won't be back.

The tour as such was o.k. and the bus pick-up was within walking distance of the ship, but it's NOT a round trip kind of tour (if you want to stay on and not get off), you have to switch to another bus downtown (whihc is o.k.) that takes you supposedly back to the ship, except it only makes one stop, at the first 4,000-people monster ship it "sees", and then starts the tour all over again. There are many docking places for ships and none are in walking distance of each other, so I had to start the tour over and at the first stop, the Little Mermaid, we waited 20 minutes to connect to a bus to go to OUR ship! Good thing we had nothing planned afterwards. Besides the hassle, it was extremely inconvenient.

We thought the tour and buses were great. It was easy to find the shuttle from the cruise terminal to the main stop at Tivoli Gardens. It was not easy to find the baggage center at the main rail station, but one of the drivers was very helpful in explaining what we needed to do with our baggage. Some of the drivers were cheerful and helpful, but one driver actually did not stop at the designated stop. Another passenger went forward and asked him to stop since he was leaving the area of the palace without making the announced stop. He did pull over and let us off. I would choose this tour and your company again.
