Bosnia and Herzegovina Day Trip Including Medjugorje and Mostar

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Experience the best of Bosnia and Herzegovina on a day trip to the country's main cities, including Mostar and Medjugorje. Leave Dubrovnik behind and visit Bosnia's only coastal town, Neum, and continue to Pocitelj, whose city center is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Pocitelj with your guide and see sights like the Haji-Ali Mosque and Sahat-kula. Next, spend time in Medjugorje, an important spiritual location for the Catholic world. Continue to Mostar and witness the town's mixed cultural background and historical sites, like Mostar's Old Bridge, before returning to Dubrovnik.

Discover Croatia’s beautiful neighboring country of Bosnia and Herzegovina and visit several beautiful cities, including Mostar and Medjugorje, on this small-group tour from Dubrovnik. After pickup at your hotel, relax in a comfortable minivan and enjoy a quick panoramic sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik before heading out on your tour.

Admire views of the Adriatic Sea as you drive along the Croatia coast. After you cross the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina, have a break in Neum, the only coastal town in the country. As you wander around this beautiful city at your leisure, shop for some souvenirs or grab a coffee at a local café.

Continue along the picturesque Neretva River delta to the town of Pocitelj. Take a stroll of the town center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and look at historical landmarks such as the Haji-Ali Mosque and Sahat-kula, a silo-shaped fort on top of the hill above the town.

Next, take in views of the Bosnian countryside as you head to Medjugorje, an important place of pilgrimage in the Catholic world since 1981, when visions of Our Lady of Peace (another name for the Virgin Mary) were reported. Walk around with your guide, who will explain the history of this spiritual location, and then enjoy free time to explore more on your own and attend a mass, if you wish.

Continue to Mostar, a cultural and religious meeting point. Admire Mostar's Old Bridge, a single arch stone bridge, and visit the Mosque of Mostar and the Turkish House. After some free time to have lunch at a local restaurant (own expense). Then, relax and take in views of the Bosnian countryside as you head back to Dubrovnik.

Waited too long for late customers as they have several pick up points, the supposedly 10hours trip end of 15 hours! Only 45mins to Medjugorje and even though we do not expect there will be time to climb up apparition hill, but not even driving there to allow people to take picture was a true disappointment.

Our driver and guide Vladamir was excellent _br/_ So knowledgeable, informative and free person_br/_ He went way out of his way to make the trip exactly what everyone wanted. _br/_ Disappointed in the local guide in Mostar, lovely young girl, learning her trade, but so much yet to learn. _br/_ I didn’t hear the information she sharded because she began to talk before everyone had gathered. _br/_ No where near the depth of knowledge Vlanamir shared _br/_ This however didn’t spoil our day and I’m sure she’ll improve with experience.

We had a great day out. It's a very long day but we got so much crammed in and we saw and experienced lots. Our driver/guide Luka unsure on spelling was lovely. He was talkative and wanted to engage us in the areas we were going to and told us little bits of info on the drives between locations which was interesting. We spent our day travelling in a mini bus with a few other people, it was nice travelling in a smaller group but we also caught up with some other groups when we got to Mostar in Bosnia and had a walking tour of the city with a local guide. It was interesting to experience such different cultures in each place we went to, which was really interesting to compare to Dubrovnik too. Great day out, and we had lots of free time to do what we wanted to. Lots of walking and we got the most free time 3 hours in Mostar, and got between 30 mins - 1 hour at the other locations.

I wrote a long review but it did not post!!! It logged me out while I was typing the long review, then after logging in, what I wrote was gone! So I am retyping with less of the details of my earlier write-up.

Nice tour, very good history, I did expect for us to see the statue of the Blessed Mother as did several other people on the tour. Might this be a another misrepresentation of a tour??_br/_ There was an issue with 6 passengers who felt unsafe on the bus die to a cracked window, this delayed our trip 60-90 minutes.

This tour was a disaster. from being picked up by a driver/ tour guide who did not know his way around the city , to picking up a friend of his on the way to drop them off in Bosnia the driver/ tour guide knew absolutely NOTHING

The trip lets you pass to 3 border controls, but was nothing if you let yourself busy. The trip to medjugorje was short, no access to apparition hill. We stayed around 3 hours in Mostar which included your time to eat lunch. We passed by Pocitelj for half an hour and back to Dubrovnik.

We had a good time to join this tour recently. The tour guide and the driver both were professional. There was only one downside we needed to in and out the borders for several times so spending a lot of times for those officers to check our passports. Overall we quite enjoyed the tour. Recommend it!

To much time spent travelling advertised as 2 trips first trip spent 45 minutes second trip 3 hours tour guide in Mostar was useless. Although if you read previous comments this has all been said before and nothing has been done to change it !!!

It was excellent weather the day I made the trip. The driver has a very nice character, and tries to tell info as much as possible while still keep safe driving. The Mostar is definitely the Highlight of the day, and also enough free time to roaming around the place. The visit before and after the Mostar is less interesting and either one could be removed from the trip to make this trip more convenient, as it took almost 12h to finish the day trip, and could be tiring for some people.

We took this tour in late March 2018 where the weather was very cold to the point where it was snowing at some parts of our trip. We stopped at Medjugorje and visited the church where it was completely snowing. Mostar itself was a very beautiful place and I think the whole tour would have been a lot more memorable if our tour guide would explain and tell us more about the places that we visited. We drove for almost 2 hours from our first stop at the border to Medgugorje in silence. We were held up at the border for quite some time in the beginning and were not notified as to what's happening with the tour bus. I felt our guide could have done better job in notifying everyone in the bus to keep us calm and informed. She could have also made the trip to our first stop more interesting as well has she mentioned interesting facts about the towns or villages that we drove by to get to our first site. It was hard for me to imagine for not having anything to say about places that we visited knowing the rich and long history of Bosnia as a nation and a country. Perhaps this tour could have been much better if we had a more lively and knowledgeable tour guide !!

This is a really excellent day trip if you're interested in seeing Mostar and some interesting sights along the way. We were picked up on time in a really nice, clean van, and the driver was excellent and very knowledgeable. The only downside was that when we reached Mostar, we were stuck outside in the freezing cold weather for almost half an hour because the local guide forgot that she had a group - I also didn't find the local guide in Mostar to be very informative at all, and felt that I probably would have got more from walking around on my own with a guidebook or with the use of google. I recommend that the tour uses a different guide in future, as none of our group seemed to get a lot from the tour which was mostly us walking around and her pointing out things, without giving any interesting background or history, which you really expect from a local tour guide. It would also have been nice to have a little more time in Mostar. However overall a really excellent day!

Sorry, late posting. But how can we forget this very long day, 12 hours. Our bus broke down when we were leaving Medjugorje. We lost 1 hour in transit time, but our guide was very accommodating and made up loss time in Mostar, the city rich in history._br/_ Another thing to keep in mind, 1 hour in picking up passengers around Dubrovnik, so just pack up breakfast for the ride.

It was a great trip overall. Mostar was an amazing location and we had excellent guides, especially the guide in Mostar. We spent a lot of time in Medjugorje waiting, and there isn't much too see in this small town.

Loved this tour! a day full of knowledge. Medjugorje is a very religious site and therefore very busy. I am glad I got to see it but my highlight was definitely Mostar. Make sure you have their typical Cevapi dish if having lunch there.

Tour was great. Mostar and the stop after at the old fort was great. Good pictures were taken and gifts bought. One of the other tour participants had an issue with a local vendor. The tour guides were sincerely concerned and were helping mediate the issue when they found out.

Okay but pick up in Mostar was late and you only get 35min at Medjugorje. Stupid because you spend an hour at a res stop and not enough time at religious site.

A nice way to see the sights of Bosnia in one day. However, beware that you won't get an informative driver. He's more like a shuttle service to get you from point A to B. But, for the value, and for the nice walking tour provided in Mostar, a great day spent exploring the region.

When I booked this tour, I was led to believe that there would be time to go to mass in Medjugorje and even climb up Apparition Hill. Unfortunately, we had less than 25 minutes in Medjugorje. As pleasant as it was to go to Mostar, I would have much preferred to have stayed in Medjugorje. Yes, we saw someone jump off the bridge in Mostar, but it really wasn't worth waiting half an hour for that.

They should have specified how long we are staying in each place in the ad, because had I known that we were just staying for 45 minutes in Medjugorje I am Catholic and that is the reason why I booked the tour in the first place , I would have not taken the tour. Just to walk from the bus parking to the chapel takes 10-15 minutes hence , we had to pray in the chapel, buy souvenirs, walk around, in a flash! .Furthermore, our tour guide was like a super strict, non-smiling schoolteacher who should have been given some pr lessons before going on an assignement. Mostar and the other places were beautiful tho, but I as I said, there should have been equitable distribution of time spent in each of the places according to the compositionthere were 5 of us catholics in a group of 12 who were all so disappointed or consensus of the tour group.

We were disappointed to find out at pick up time that our booking had been sold to another company. The transport was old and we didnt really have a 'guide'. The driver would drop us off at places and wait for us to explore, then keep going. Not exactly a 'tour' more of a transport system...

Great trip. Matteo the driver guide was awesome - the local guide in Mostar pretty average. Would skip Medjugorje if re-doing, and visit the falls instead. Overall, would definitely recommend

We like the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina because Mostar was a great sight with lots of culture to learn and to take away from. However, the day was a bit ruined when the driver mistook our gesture for whatever reason?! We were the 2nd pair of passengers to be picked up and when we noticed that the window screen of the bus was wet, we then took our tissue papers to wipe it on the outside so we could take photos without the water droplets, however, the driver shouted at us in local language which we could not understand?! The tour guide just told us not to do it anymore as the driver was mad at us, by why mad?_br/_ We wish more explanation could be given and both the driver and the guide's attitude should be more customer focused. We went on a tour to have fun and not to be shouted at.

This tour was amazing and easily one of the best we have taken. Anna and Stefan were so good and so funny and were experts at the border crossings. All the stops were interesting and well organised. We particularly liked Mostar and our local guide gave us an insight into what it was like there during the war. Don't miss this tour!

A long day but an interesting day that combines culture, history, and a balance of free time with guided tour. Mini-bus was a bit cramped if you are tall, excellent driver, and our tour guide although well intended was difficult to understand at times and not overly enthusiastic. I've had better tours with the company - maybe an exception. Overall, good value for the price.

Tour was ok. No complaints. I liked the part with the local tour guide, learning about Mostar and the war. Other parts were just ok. Worth doing if you're spending a significant amount of days in Dubrovnik. Possibly better with a different tour group.

A magnificent tour. Being in the off season the crowds were still in evidence but bearable! Our suggestion would be to have more time in Medjugorje and less time in Mostar, as most of our group were waiting for the driver at the end of the Mostar visit!

Even though the trip was very long, me and my friend had a great time in Bosnia. Mostar is a beautiful town with very nice people and food. I wouldn't have stopped at Medjugorje, as there's not much to see or do. Our last stop was Pocitelj, a very small town but a nice place to take amazing pictures!

Though the Mostar Bridge and actually Herzegovina is not as I expected, the trip was quite wonderful and the Mostar Old Town was stunning, and we had plenty of free time to hang around on our own._br/_ I specially loved the short stay in Pocitelj, the Fort was wonderful._br/_ Our guide was nice and helpful.

Medjugorie would be an important place to visit from a religious perspective for many people, but for everyone else I would suggest doing the tour with the waterfalls instead. Medjugorie is very commercialized. Mostar was beautiful and the local guide was outstanding.

Great tour from start to finish. The guide/driver was informative and professional throughout so we learnt a little of the history of each place as we drove to them. Medjugorje was a little disappointing in that in consisted of a church and not much else, but Mostar was a lovely place to visit. We even witnessed someone diving off the famous bridge.

Out of tour company's control, but far too much time spent at border/passport control between Bosnia and Croatia._br/_ Consequently, time allocated to Medjugorge portion of tour was only 30 minutes._br/_ Mostar was great and local guide very informative.

Overall this tour is very worthwhile to see Mostar and the bridge. Its a very long day...... around 12 hours....._br/_ Mostar was interesting as expected and the local guide was excellent, he was a very good speaker and spoke with passion as a local who was brought up during the war. Part of the guide is a short video about the war that was also very interesting._br/_ The bridge itself, as well documented, has been rebuilt, so for me looses some of its character. However you must commend all the efforts that went into the project of rebuilding it as close to the original as possible._br/_ The little old town of Mostar has some charm to it although there are quite a few tourist shops selling mementoes....._br/_ There are many restaurants to choose from we dined at one overlooking the bridge which was good, food however was mediocre._br/_ We had a three hour stop at Mostar including the local guide, which was good._br/_ The stop at Medjugorje for me was a waste of time unless your religious and interested, the bus only drops you at a large car park in the centre of town near the relatively new church, not outside town where the main event took place. !_br/_ The town main street itself is non descript, with many shops selling thousands of religious souvenirs. We had far too long to hang about here. One redeeming feature was the large and very clean toilets near the car park. There should be a separate tour to this place for those with a special interest._br/_ The stop enroute at the coastal town of Neum was a bit of a cheat...... we stopped at a motorway style café overlooking the town down below. !!!! The tour description suggests you would stop in the actual town. No......_br/_ The UNESCO town of Pocitelj was interesting, although we did not have much time to explore. The mosque which you can visit has been rebuilt and was interesting and you can also if time permits climb to the old fortress up above._br/_ Our guide Ana was very friendly and although Spanish, conducted all of this tour in English we had been on another tour with Ana where the tour was conducted in Spanish and English, not so good. I feel you miss out when the tour guide is not local, more a list of facts rather than some local passion about the places._br/_ In summary a worthwhile tour to see some sights you have heard so much about, although its certainly a trip you would only consider doing once........
