Mostar Day Trip from Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Visit the city sights of Mostar, a city on the Neretva River in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this day trip from Dubrovnik, see the Old Bazaar, the Turkish House and historical mosques. After a guided tour of town, you will have free time to visit the old craft shops or enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch at a local a restaurant.

Mostar, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is known as a melting pot of cultures and religions, where east meets west and north meets south. It is a city where a traveler from the north feels the first dashes of Mediterranean air imbued with scents of citrus and sea, and a traveler from the south gets a first glimpse of the continent beyond. A day trip to Mostar from Dubrovnik is definitely a day well spent.

Drive along the coast to Neum and through the picturesque Neretva River Delta. Explore the fortress town of Počitelj, a well-preserved example of oriental architecture perched on a hillside over the river. Continue to Mostar, which during the Turkish rule, was developed on the banks of the river as an important trade center on caravan routes.

During your tour of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, you’ll see its historic Old Bridge, the colorful Old Bazaar with traditional handicrafts and a well-preserved traditional Turkish home. The town has exceptional dwellings and monuments that were assembled harmoniously over the centuries thanks to favorable geographical conditions and a sound economic climate.

Shop for handmade local crafts or enjoy lunch during your free time.

lovely guide Daniella was brilliant and funny. we had a good driver. beautiful scenery. I would recommened to add more than 3 hours to the free time in Mostar because it was hardly enough to eat and wonder around without rushing.

this was a fun day out of Dubrovnik to Mostar! we were 3 young couples and it felt like the tour was made to fit our needs and interests. our wonderful tour guide Daniella was super helpful and funny. safe driver. I would have added more free time to wonder around Mostar alone because 3 hours wasn't enough to wander and have lunch. I highly recommend this tour and seeing Mostar!! lovely people there and beautiful views. cheap handmade souvenirs.

Great tour. Awesome way to see Mostar from Dubrovnik. The passport check takes an hour or so but that is to be expected.

Not sure this tour was worth taking a whole day out of your holiday to do. Its a long bus journey just to see a bridge with a lot of tacky tourist souvenirs around. To touristy for my liking.

Mostar is a lesson and geography and history. The bridge was nice, but you see the effects of war in around town. It took some time to cross the borders, but the trip was worth it.

Really helpful office staff arranged our early morning pick up and the guide and driver were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the day, in spite of it being a long one and the coach having a problem which was speedily dealt with! The local tour guide was excellent giving personal anecdotes as well as information. We had enough time to wander on our own. The trip catered for dual language not a problem really but there was a lot of talking which could become intrusive but this is a very minor point.

It was a wonderful day! The views were phenomenal, and the history so interesting! Maria was very knowledgeable during the bus ride, and Alma was our local guide in Mostar. She was a wealth of information! Just be prepared for the fast pace through the town! But you'll have time to explore on your own after the Turkish House. The bus ride is a little long, but well worth it. I got some amazing photos!

This was such a great trip! We had been on a not so great one the day before so it was nice. We were a very small group and our tour guide was excellent. She chatted with us on the way there and pointed out some interesting things. She knew of alternate border crossings we could use if the line was too long so we really breezed through! Mostar was beautiful and our tour guide there was great too! We had plenty of time to wander on our own as well. We were also able to be back at a reasonable time, so it wasn't too long of a day. Really enjoyed this trip!

I enjoyed this tour. We stopped at a local mosque as we headed to Mostar. I did think the guide was a little more partial to the largely French tourists on the bus versus Englist speakers. his explanation to them on things was far longer than what was explained to the Englisth speakers. Like 1 minute versus 5 for them when explaining things. I know French and could tell what he omitted from the English side. I was glad we had a different guide in Mostar.

It was a nice and quite interesting trip. Mostar turned out to be a bit too touristy for my taste, too many people and too little time to walk around. Mostar trip is for people who don't mind crowded, touristy places and rather tight schedules. However this trip made me want to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina again, such a beautiful country with fascinating cultural heritage.

The trip started with us being scolded by the trip leader because we weren't in the right place though we were where we had been instructed to be. We also saw people who had to take a taxi to Gruz Port because they didn't get picked up as scheduled. The trip itself was smooth. However, we had little time in Mostar after the guided tour, which did not include much of interest. It seemed that they picked the cheapest things for us to see, rather than the most interesting I'm referring to the old mosque and the Turkish house. After that we only had 90 minutes to eat lunch and look around, which was very rushed. I'd advise others to skip the guided tour though the guide was good and just be on your own.

We were lucky enough to get a really knowledgeable tour guide for this trip. He gave us information on culture, history, religion, politics, the economy, geography and the list goes on. The drive was spectacular. The big bus was only half full which was really nice. The time we got in mostar was too short. We did the guided walking tour and only had about half an hour after it to find a restaurant, order and eat. It felt much too rushed and I felt there was so much more to see.

Very fascinating trip. Amazing to compare the differences between Bosnia and Croatia even though separate by just a short drive. A real eye opener and humbling to learn the history.

Fun and interesting place to visit. The roads are winding so be careful if you get car sick. The bus we were assigned was a little old and the tour guide's English was not the best. But still a wonderful day trip.

Its a long way but worth it for the views and scenery Mostar is beautiful and the guide was excellent , but it is a long trip and boarder crossings can be long and tiedious

The bus was modern and comfortable and the guides were excellent. Unfortunately all the tour busses arrive at the same time so the town is extremely crowded and once the guide finishes there is only one hour left to have a meal, shop and take photos.

The drive is long, but the city is gorgeous and worth it! If you can, leave the group as soon as the bus arrives and take the time to explore on your own. The bridge and city are loaded with tourists and the crowds are very irritating. We broke away from our guide, and had a nice time exploring the parts that we wanted. Venture down to the riverside, or to the nearby road bridge and you can get nice views of the town from a distance. Overall I would recommend, but just wish it was longer.

Great guides both on the minibus and the local guide showing us around Mostar. Good blend of being shown around and having free time. Recommend both trip itself and using that agency.

Mostar was an interesting place to see, but there really isn't enough time to explore on this trip. I think this would be a great excursion if it was an hour or so away, but the 3 hour each way trip wasn't worth it.

This is a good tour and Mostar is an interesting place to visit. The tour would really benefit from a bit more content though. We did stop at a village on the way but it really just felt like a coach trip during which you get handed over to a guide for an hour. The tour guide in the coach on the way was nice enough but could have explained more about the history of the conflict. Everyone seems to be reserved about it.

Nice day trip from Dubrovnik. The guides were really good and spoke very good English. Mostar is a really interesting and friendly place. I would have liked a bit more time at Mostar.

This day trip, compared to the Montenegro one which I also reviewed, is much better. Only two stops, a small village and Mostar. Although two coffee breaks lasting 20 min each is way too long, I'd rather have 15 more minutes in the small village, I forget the name. The bridge is awesome and the guided tour was good, about an hour long, then 2 hours on your own.

Great trip. The tour guide Marco was very friendly and knowledgeable and had a lot of information to share with us during the bus ride. Mostar itself is also very beautiful and we had a great local guide there too to show us around.

This was a perfect day trip. We're a young hipster-ish couple from the states. Ride there was informative. Plenty of rest breaks. Boarders were pretty fast. Our bus guide Marco was great.

Excellent - very glad I booked through Viator. Although it may have been slightly more expensive than the smaller companies, the benefit was a high-quality, clean, air-conditioned coach from a very professional and well-established tour operator. Pick-up at the arranged hotel was punctual - I would recommend this trip - worth the early start, and Mostar is well worth a day trip the coastal route is stunning. Tour guide was informative, but didn't talk non-stop so wasn't overbearing. Coffee stop on route was appreciated, border checks didn't take too long. Would loved to have spent longer in Mostar.

After we met at our pick up location we then had to go to 3 other pick up locations not close local ones! and ended up only seeing Mostar for 3 hours and other than toilet stops we did nit stop at the other two locations on the what to expect itinery. There were huge delays at border but clever driver did find an alternate border crossing. What we saw was good and guides good. But felt I doesn't more time on the Bosch and missed out on dome f the sightseeing

Very enjoyable trip with friendly and knowledgeable guides, both on the bus and in Mostar itself. I'm now much clearer about the complex make-up of the former Yugoslavian nations.

The two old towns visited were worth seeing. I love Turkish influences in architect. But, the trip was poorly planned and executed.

Interesting tour, very long trip to get there and it was a super hot day. Highly recommend taking lots of drinking water as it's so hot, but the actual tour content was very interesting and informative. The wait at the boarder was long and the bus didn't have great air con, so ensure you have cold beverages and something to entertain yourself with.

Mostar is a beautiful city. The guide on the bus was ok, and the local guide in Mostar was really good! You get a lot of free time to do some shopping, and eating. Local food where really good.

Really interesting experience. Mostar is an extremely symbolic city of Bosnia, so it was worth the two hour bus ride to go there and to come back. The bus guide was amazing, but the local guide was not as informative...

Really interesting to see and hear about the Turkish heritage of Mostar. Well organized trip with a great local guide for our tour of the old town. Definitely worth it if you have time.

Had an issue with the bus not being able to get past the border so we had to switch buses. Other than that, the actual tour was great. We were given a brief tour for about an hour and then were given a couple of hours to explore on our own. This seemed to be enough time to walk around the city and grab a bite. Overall was a great experience.

Mostar is a must see! Great history and culture. However, do it as a small group or private tour. Due to problems on our tour, we only had 2 hours in Mostar and most of that time 1.5 hours was taken up by the local tour guide. We left the local tour early so we could eat before starting the long bus ride back. Our problem with this tour was the size large bus with 40 -50 people of varying age. The day started early with a small group of us picked up separately. We were drop off at the Dubrovnik bridge and told to wait. No other information was given. We were finally picked up over 30 minutes later by the main group. The large group was late because 2 people did not arrive at their pickup point on time and the bus went back to get them. The result, the tour was very late starting. Next it took over 1 hour both ways to cross the border into and out of Bosnia due to the large number of people on the bus. Mostar is wonderful, but do not go on a large group tour if you want to anything besides ride/sit on a bus.
