Private Tour: Hanoi City Full-Day Tour including Cyclo Ride

Hanoi, Vietnam

Known as the 'Paris of the East', Hanoi is one of Asia's most charming cities. Spend your private Hanoi full-day tour enjoying the essential sites including The Ho Chi Minh Complex and The Temple of Literature, the Museum of Ethnology, Ngoc Son Temple and picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake. To complete the day, take a cyclo tour through the historic Old Quarter and explore the many market streets dedicated to a variety of local wares.

This private full-day Hanoi tour takes in all the key sightseeing, starting in the morning with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex. The complex comprises of Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, his former stilt-house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh museum. Next, visit the Temple of Literature, originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam's first university dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone steles mounted on the backs of turtles, inscribed with the names of the university's graduates. The complex is divided into five courtyards with different paths that would originally have been reserved for the Emperor and his mandarins. One of the courtyards contains the statue of Confucius guarded by two beautiful bronze storks standing on turtles.

* Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays. On these days, visitors will tour Hoa Lo Prison instead.

After a sumptuous Vietnamese lunch, tour the Museum of Ethnology, widely acknowledged as the best in the Vietnam which houses a display dedicated to Vietnam's 54 ethnic minority peoples. Afterward, head to Ngoc Son Temple set on a tiny island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake. The Ngoc Son temple dates back to the 13th century, and the lake itself is a picturesque focal point of Hanoi, frequented by tourists and locals alike.

End the day with a one-hour cyclo ride through the Old Quarter. Also known as the 36 streets, this bustling area of narrow streets is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. It's a great place to explore with plenty of photo opportunities. At approximately 6:00pm, you will return you to your hotel.

It was a rainy day so we walked about in the rain. Tour was good, tour guide Van was very friendly, informative and accomodating, seeing as we had senior citizens and a newborn in the group. It was cold! 10 degrees out and light rain. Trishaw ride was fun. Lunch was superb. A great tour and a great way to see Hanoi!

Tour was excellent. Tour started on time and tour guide, Long, was very knowledgeable. Driver and the included meal were excellent. We did all the visits that were listed but walked through the old quarter our choice so we could keep Long as our guide rather than taking the cyclo ride.

Such a great tour to see the city! Cray going in and out of all the mopeds! Great tour! Would do it again! The guides were funny and raced each other.

Best way of getting around Hanoi, my favourite city and place in Vietnam. Its busy, the hotel we were staying was amazing, our tour guide was the BEST!! OMG he made Hanoi for me. I was celebrating my 50th, and everything went clock work. The weather is hot, but the people, this tour was fantastic. If I could give this a 10 star I would. The tour guide works for Buffalo Tours, is the best guide eva!

Really well organised tour, great tour guide, very informative. The Cyclo ride at the end was fun, nipping through the busy back streets.

We had the most wonderful tour guide, Trang. She was delightful, very attuned to the things we were interested in and went to great lengths to ensure we had a wonderful day. The Ho Chi Minh precinct was very interesting and Trang introduced us to some scrumptuous Vietnamese treats. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was great and we enjoyed the Cyclo tour just as much. We would have loved to steal Trang so she could be our guide for our entire Vietnam adventure.

Absolutely fantastic tour! Picked up promptly, our tour guide Tien was full of knowledge, very nice and patient while we took photos. Lunch was lovely in a nice restaurant. Highly recommend! Great way to see Hanoi and learn about its history at your own pace and comfort of being chauffeured

A lovely tour but be prepared for a lot of walking , nice lunch in a typical Vietnamese restaurant , finished off with a 30 minute cyclo ride through the very busy streets of Hanoi , just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Our tour guide Huy was awesome. He was very punctual in picking us up and making sure we were comfortable. His English was awesome and was a well seasoned experienced guide. We had an awesome day seeing so much wonderful history we may have missed trying to do this ourselves. He took us to a lovely restaurant for lunch. Only negative was that it was supposed to be included with the tour and they had us pay the bill, but it was excellent dining and for less than 20 dollars for 3 people I am not going to complain. Our guide also wanted to know if there was anything special we wanted to see which was away from the tourist areas. He was happy to take us thru the neighborhoods and local market areas where the local people live each day. That was such a highlight for us. I would highly recommended this company and especially our tour guide to anyone visiting Hanoi. If I could give him 10 stars I would....

The guide and driver could not do more to assist us. The day was an excellent introduction to Hanoi. They even changed the schedule to enable us to see some sights of our own choosing, once confirmed with their head office.

That was my style of exploring a new city - with a great guide, able to ask all the questions that you normally don't ask in a group - it was relaxed and at my own pace. Will do it again.

Like a lot of Vietnam tours booked before arrival, this seems very expensive for what it was. Uncle Ho's mausoleum was shut, we saw his house (worth seeing) and a few temples. Nice lunch included but really not that interesting or value for money.

The pick up was spot on for time, the english speaking tour guide was well informed and gave us lots of historical info, the visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex and Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum was great and gave you a real feel for the importance of Ho Chi Minh as a historical person and the importance he has for the country._br/_ Tour The Temple of Literature and Museum of Ethnology gave a good insight into the people and history of the country this is a must to understand the various stages the country has gone through. The Vietnamese lunch was in a fairly decent relaxed restaurant and the food was an interesting introduction to Vietnamese food. The cycle ride through Hanoi's historic Old Quarter was a little too sedate for our 16 and 20 year olds but was a relaxed way to see the real city life as you pass along the streets.

Good trip, knowledgeable guide but hard to understand sometimes. Cost a fortune in tips though (you don't have to pay all drivers just the cycle rider but feel you must). The mouseleum was really emotional.

The tour seemed to be put together without thought. With a taxi and a map I am sure I could have done this tour myself. Not worth the price paid.

Although one can go around Hanoi on his own, I am really thankful that I took a tour, because to simply cross the streets in Vietnam is horrible with all the motorbikes not following traffic lights! To get a private tour is even better, because it saves a lot on the hotel pick-ups and drop-offs during rush-hour traffic. The lunch was a real treat, with so many courses, even though I am only a single traveler. The only "dampener" was the rain before my cyclo ride, but luckily it subsided, and the plastic around the cyclo was adequate. My tour guide Lan was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he helped make this tour enjoyable.

The cyclo ride is the worst way of getting around Hanoi. Awful pollution, with exhaust fumes in your face, and so awfully hot without much shade.
