Experience the world of the Cu Chi freedom fighters with a visit to their famous tunnel system. This network of over 200 km of tunnels became legendary during the 1960's when they played a vital part in the American War, allowing the Viet Cong to control a large rural area close to Ho Chi Minh City. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities.
Leaving the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City behind, take a 2.5-hour journey west towards the Cambodian border bound for the Cu Chi Tunnels. The Cu Chi tunnels were built by local fighters during the Indochina conflict as a base from which the Viet Cong could operate from close to the Southern Vietnamese capital. Initial construction started in 1948 when the Viet Minh required somewhere to hide from French air attacks and by 1965, the Cu Chi tunnel complex was estimated to consist of 200km's of tunnels. It included, hospitals, schools, meeting rooms, kitchens and sleeping quarters. Life was difficult for the inhabitants and to protect against outside intruders bobby traps were laid throughout the complex.

This trip doesn't include hotel pick up, which we didn't spot when we were looking, not a problem for us but beware. Guide was very charming and knowledgeable and her English was superb, a lovely guide to have. Apart from the one tunnel that everyone has the opportunity to go through, we were able to go through tunnels connecting the kitchen and meeting room as well. As said before, although busy, the guide was able to navigate us round so we had chance to see everything without being overcrowded. Driver did an excellent job negotiating the HCM traffic.

It was a great day and our guide was really knowledgeable. It was a lot of driving and be sure to bring some food with you, as the tour doesn't include any and I was starving by the end! A good chance to see more of Vietnams countryside.

I was solo for the weekend after a regional business trip and signed up for this small group tour of the chu chi tunnels. It was very well run, on time, our guide spoke good english, and there was only about 12-15 ppl, which made for a nice size. The tunnels and exhibits are well worth seeing and just about 1.5 hrs from Ho Chi Minh city make this a great half day excursion for anyone!

Fantastic tour and fantastic value. Our tour guide, Thanh from Urban Adventure was really knowledgeable. The drive over took almost 2 hours and he gave us some background on the way for 30 mins or so. _br/_ On the way we stopped at a farm where they make rice paper and we had a go at that which was fun._br/_ We reached Cu Chi and our guide took us around the area and explained things in detail. Lots of things to see and you can fire an M16 on the way.You can go through some of the tunnels. Not too hard. We went in August and it was pretty warm which was expected. Half way along there's a shop where you can buy drinks, food and souvenirs. _br/_ There's a movie at the end and a local guide gave a bot of a low-down to enhance the experience._br/_ Plenty of photo opportunities. Great tour! Definitely worth seeing if you're in Ho Chi Minh city. The history and tunnels are interesting and our guide was really knowledgeable. The tunnels are extremely hot and small, just heads up if you are claustrophobic, but it's very easy to exit after the 1st 20 meters.

Great! Nothing to complain about. I went here in June, 2016, and I still remember it fondly. I had always wanted to go here, so this was an amazing experience for me. Our guide I forget her name, but I think she was of Filipino decent was waiting for us on time at specified location. She was very nice and gave us a lot of information about the history of the area. On our way there, had a fun stop at a rice paper-making farm, where we got to try making the rice paper impossible and feeding some of the biggest pigs I've ever seen in my life. The tunnels are amazing. Even if you don't crawl through them, seeing the history and being in the area is worth it. My only advice would be to bring a pair of earplugs with you, as the tour takes a stop at a shooting range. The guns are extremely loud and you don't get earplugs until you get right next to the range. The tour isn't that long six hours or so, but that's all you need, plus in the summer, the heat can be pretty harsh, so definitely bring a drink or buy one at the entrance. Definitely do this tour if you're in the area!

Awesome trip. It takes a while to go and come back but I really enjoyed this trip. Don't worry if you are claustrophobic in the tunnels you have an exit every 20 meters.... just allow a big gap between you and the person in front of you.

Cu Chi Tunnel tour was an awesome experience with our tour guide Queenie. With a small group of 10, we left from the Saigon Post Office at 7:30 am and arrived to Cu Chi Tunnels before many of the other tour groups. I would highly recommend visiting Cu Chi Tunnels as early as possible so that you can have to most time to learn about the tunnels without being hurried by other groups.

This trip was awesome, especially with our incredible, hilarious tour guide, Ashley! She was so informative of Ho Chi Minh City and the Cu Chi Tunnels! I recommend requesting Ashley for ANY trips in and outside of Ho Chi Minh City!!! As for the tour itself, we visited the tunnels to see how the Viet Cong operated during the war. Our group was also able to go to a shooting range too!

As a solo traveller, I looked into arranged day trips for ease of travel. This tour was excellent - the Cu Chi tunnels are quite difficult to get to via public transport so being transported there was perfect. _br/_ I really enjoyed going through the tunnels and glad I was allowed to continue when most of the group opted out._br/_ Trying an entrance of one of the tunnels was also an experience I will not forget._br/_ I highly recommend this tour, especially as I was back in the city for early dinner, which meant I had plenty of time to do other activities.

Cu Chi Tunnels are of course very interesting and shows how a nation can resist for its territorial area to a very well equipped invasion army. The problem was with the price and guidance of the tour. I have had bought this tour with the statement best price guarantee. Nevertheless later I discovered much cheaper tours to this tunnel. Was it best price relative to the quality of the tour?. Oh no! The guide and driver had lost their way and we reached the site about 45 minutes than scheduled. Afterwards the effort of the guide has been to pass us various tunnels very rapid without sufficient explanation. He does not want anybody to enter the tunnels so that the tour ends early. Every time when I have visited a tunnel, I have been forced to act quickly. It was disturbing for me. This is not professional tourism and guidance

Tour was very comprehensive and interesting. Nice comfortable bus. Guide Than was very knowledgeable and engaging. He was a bit hard to understand though and next time I would have asked him to speak slower and repeat words/sentence. That is the the reason for the 4/5 stars. Tour definitely worth it though.
