Hong Kong Pink Dolphin Watching Cruise

Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Join this Hong Kong cruise to witness the world's pinkest dolphins at play!

Be amazed - these dolphins, found between Hong Kong and Macau, are pinker than the Boto dolphins in the Amazon River in South America and live within a few kilometers of one of the world's busiest shipping centers and most densely populated urban area.

The Pearl River Delta, between Hong Kong and Macau, is home to around a thousand Indo-pacific Humpback dolphins, Sousa chinensis. For some unknown reason, populations of this species along the Chinese coast are bright pink. They are the world's pinkest dolphins - pinker even than the Boto dolphins in the Amazon River in South America- and they live near Hong Kong, within a few kilometers of the world's busiest shipping center and most densely populated urban area.

Chosen as the official mascot of the 1997 handover ceremony, the dolphins are threatened by pollution, over fishing and reclamation. This trip is designed to minimize disturbance to the dolphins, therefore these lovely creatures are comfortable with the vessel being used and sometimes come quite close.

96% of trips have successful sightings. If no dolphins are seen, passengers are entitled to take another dolphin cruise at no extra cost - subject to availability.

Such a great experience seeing such a beautiful animal in such an Urban environment. We were lucky enough to encounter 5 dolphins on our tour the highlight being a mother and calf, quite depressing the impact man is having on them especially the amount of litter in the sea.

It was a great trip! The dolphins were found quickly and we saw probably 10-11 of them! It was a unique experience, even for the grad student who studies the dolphins and was leading the tour. Seeing 1-2 is the norm, seeing 3-4 would be very lucky, seeing 10-11 was just stunning! Thank you for a fun time!

Fantastic, saw lots of dolphins, very informative guide. The only downside is these beautiful creatures are dying out due to pollution etc so future visitors may not get a chance to see them

After just a 30 minute drive, we arrived at the boat. Within one hour we saw quite a lot of dolphins._br/_ The length, tour guides and facilities were great.

I don't think they see pink dolphins very often. They are wonderful if you do but it's not best use of limited time in HK

It was a really calm day although cold for this time of year . The staff were fantastic and gave us a clear picture of the plight of the Pink dolphin on the bus on the way to the boat . We also received an information pack . _br/_ Although we didn't see the dolphins on our trip - the boat ride was both relaxing and the air felt so fresh once we left the main area. We saw the stumps ready for the bridge to Macau that the guide had spoken about. _br/_ Cos we didn't see the dolphins we were given a form enabling us to visit again within a year free of charge . _br/_ I really enjoyed about 3 hours on a boat - with both inside and outside area and meeting other people. Afterwards I decided to stay on Lantau Island and catch a.local bus to visit a fishing village - the cable car to the Big Buddah is also close to where the bus dropped me and others who wanted to explore Lantau is after the boat trip .

The trip we went on we were very lucky to see about 12 dolphins so very special from that point of view. Considering the price of the tour the refreshments were very basic. Good guide but we had trouble understanding him at times. Overall good trip but expensive especially when booking online.

Nice tour with nice people dedicated to the cause, you learn a lot and we got to see several dolphins, from a bit far though ( it would disturb them to get closer). Overall very satisfied, great tour for kids too!

We were met promptly and on the coach trip to pick the boat up we were told about the dolphins and how their numbers are falling dramatically. We were very successful on our trip and saw quite a few pink dolphins. The boat was comfortable and tea, coffee and water together with biscuits was available. All in all an enjoyable morning.

Many hours on the boat but no dolphins see. But this is not a problem of viator or the tour guides. The guides are very friendly and the do all the best that we see some dolphins. I think, it was to hot this day and the dolphins are more clever then us and they stay deeper in the see where the water was colder. So it was a nice day on the water around the airport.

This tour is both wonderful and very sad. After a a 45 minute drive you board a very clean and comfortable boat for the dolphin watching cruise. After about an hour and a half with no luck, we were about to turn back when a small pod of dolphins were sighted. These wonderful creatures are becoming more and more rare in Hong Kong waters and the number sighted this year has dwindled to below 60. The number in Chineses waters is unknown and sadly this unique little dolphin may become extinct in the next few years. Conservation measures are being taken and the money generated from this tour goes some way towards those measures. Even without sighting any dolphin, this is still a good tour, with a couple of hours out on the waters away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

The dolphin tour was wonderful! The guides were friendly, spoke great English and were quite funny. They also had great knowledge of the dolphins and their fight against extinction. We spotted saw many dolphins, quite a few with babies, and some came so close you could hear them.

A very fun and informative trip to see the beauitful rare pink dolphins, which I and my partner enjoyed very much - there were lots of dolphins swimming near the boat the day we went, we weren't disappoined at all even though we had to be quick to spot them :) The souvenirs available on the boat were great too.

Great half day tour...Travel by coach to Lantau Island and leave by boat...2x Guides..1 was HK Local and another was Americian...both very informative and passionate about Dolphin Habitatit and well being and development threating Dolphins..Dolphins weren't that playful on this day, however did see 3 to 5 different dolphins at times...Souviners for sale on board on return at rather OK prices...Highly Recommend! Guide even walked walked us back to our Hotel, due to Coach not dropping off here and this being on her way! Once again, great morning and highly Recommend! Take your camera, but be patient in getting photos...

Fantastic - we were very blessed to see 10 or more dolphins - adults, mum with baby, youngsters etc etc. Staff looked after us really well and had amazing skills in spotting the dolphins. Great information given, boat was great, drinks and biscuits a plenty. Souvenirs were available and very reasonably priced. Kids rated this trip as a main highlight of their holiday. Don't miss this unique opportunity to see these amazing creatures, there are so few of them left.

This was an awesome tour and I would encourage and recommend it to anyone. These Dolphins are only found in Hong Kong and are endangered. We were fortunate to have a good siting which included a mum and relatively new baby. My daughter is now on a mission to try and bring awareness of their plight by raising awareness of them. We had never heard of them until we were looking to see what was available to do in Hong Kong. A must do experience. The more people that are aware increases their chance of survival. The guide and crew are very knowledgeable and passionate about these beautiful animals. A MUST DO TRIP!!!!!

97% success rate on spotting pink dolphins. We were in the unlucky 3%. The staff did, however, try very hard to find the dolphins. The research boats did not find them that day either. We were given a voucher allowing us a free trip. We were going home the next day but it is valid for 1 year and can be passed on to friends or family so you cannot complain. Warm sunny day and so quite a pleasant trip nonetheless. We were told about the plight of the dolphins and the effect of land reclamation etc. If we had seen the dolphins this would have been an excellent trip as the water was clear and calm. Can't win them all!

Excellent. I got lucky as the dolphins were very playful, 7 of them hanging around putting on a show. Really cool to see against the backdrop of a busy international airport.

Wonderful! Nice to see real live dolphins in the wild. An eye opener for the family and I. Recommended! Luck wasn't on our side that morning. Took us a long time to get the 1st sighting of the pink dolphins. The closer we got to them, the further they swam away from us. Only manage to look at 'blown-up' gritty pictures taken with our digital cams. The commentary from our guide was superb. Thank you. (Billy Lum and family, Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA)
