In the Footsteps of John Paul II from Krakow

Krakow, Poland

While in Poland don't miss your chance to visit Wadowice - childhood home of John Paul ll. Travel through the stunning Beskidy mountain range, pay homage to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy and visit the Archbishop's Palace on this intriguing tour from Krakow.

Travel from Krakow and through the Beskidy mountain range with a visit to Wadowice, childhood hometown of John Paul ll, previously the Krakow archbishop Karol Wojtyla. You will see the house where the he was born, pass the parish church, where he was baptised, and places of interest that had an effect on him during his childhood and adolescence years.

Before you return to Krakow you will stop at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki. The sanctuary is situated some four kilometers south of Krawkow's central Old Town historic district and is a developing place of pilgrimage that you can pay homage to the holly relics of St. Faustyna Kowalska, who was canonized as the first saint of the Third Millennium by John Paul II, and admire the impressive modern basilica consecrated by the Pope in 2002.

Then travel to the foot of the Royal Castle to visit the Archdiocese Museum located in the most picturesque street of Krakow. In the museum you can see the flat where Karol Wojtyla lived while working as a lecturer of theology.

Finally, visit the Archbishop's Palace which is Wojtyla's last residence before leaving for the Vatican in 1978. See the famous "papal window", where thousands of people lit candles and prayed during his last days. Tour ends with drop off at Krakow city center,

It was a wonderful day, and not surprisingly, learned a lot about PJPII._br/_ Our guide went out of his way to make sure we had the entire experience even walking us around the small town afterwards to make sure we understood what life was like then and now. Our guide was fantastic. Our day was fantastic. It was everything we'd hoped it would be, and more.

Only my wife and I and a mother with daughter on our tour. We were transported by car with Krzysztof as our driver/guide. He was a mind of information and from the moment we left Krakow he was giving us information. A very enjoyable day and we would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the life of John Paul II.

Because of the bicycle event, Tour de Pologne, Viator's local contacts had to do some logistical reorganizing and they did it with elegance There were only two of us on this excursion and Joanna was an excellent guide. I was especially grateful to visit JPII's boyhood home and to visit the splendid museum there. I highly recommend this tour.

fantastic and very informative for us catholics as well as for others to really want to know more about St Pope John Paul 2nd. A professional tour and informative one. Do try the cake at the place. We also did the St Faustina tour together. just fantastic.

I was the only one on the tour and the experience was great. Frank was a wonderful guide and he drove me in his own car to Wadowice, John Paul II home town. We had a very interesting chat on the way and I learned a lot of things about Poland and its countryside. The museum at John Paul II birth house was really well put together and very interesting. A highly recommended tour.

Christopher, our Tour Guide loves Poland and Polish History. He provided an informative chronology of Poland History. Our Guide at the St. John Paul II Museum was excellent. She demonstrated her love for JP II. Christopher provided a detailed explanation of the beautiful Divine Mercy Basilica. A Great Tour!

The tour was worth it to be taken out to Wadowice and see the museum they have where JPII and #39;s childhood home and birthplace is. The divine mercy shrine was also great to see! However our tour guide was kind of rude and didn and #39;t have insights into JPII and #39;s life or important sites inside Kraków.

Great trip out of town to the sleepier Wadowice. Was a wonderful experience for a non-Catholic. I was filled with a new understanding and respect for the great man himself after the museum tour. Managed to even try the lovely papal cream cake while waiting for our museum tour to start. Our guide was friendly and chatty, giving us a deeper understanding of daily Polish life. Clean comfortable car for our small group of four.

a very touching and uplifting experience being able to have an in depth understanding of this former pontiff. The guide patiently brought us through the 3 churches explaining the significance of each and every artefact. Most poignant of the 3 church is the one at Wadowice where we literally walk through Pope John Paul II life. A must go for visitors regardless of religion to see how humble life bring out great people.

Highly recommend this! I was the only one in the tour and my guide is amazing! Not only does he know the history of Poland in details, but also has a great love for 1970s music in Poland - which is amazing by the way :)

A very informative and enjoyable tour. The number of people on the tour wasn't too big so we enjoyed it alot better than other tours who had too many people on them. Would definitely recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful experience. Our guide was most accommodating. He was kind and courteous. His knowledge of the places we visited on the tour and indeed Poland in general was absolutely amazing. Nothing was a problem to him. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. Thank you.

The guide was amazing. He really looked after us by explaining everything clearly and providing very personal service. The tour group was small, only 4 of us, and we were really looked after. He did not rush us through places but went out of his way to make sure that we had time to see places we visited.

I learned so much on this tour- but there is a LOT crammed into it and no time at all to eat lunch! Dining in Poland is a laid-back affair, and thirty or so minutes to eat a decent meal is not nearly enough time. We only had time for a quick piece of cake- by the end of the day we were famished.

As Catholics and from Malta where Pope John 2 came twice, this tour was a must for us. The chapel of the Divine Mercy was also a place of great serenity where we prayed. _br/_ Thanks to a wonderful guide.

This trip is far too long and unless you are obsessed with John Paul do not go on this trip. We left at 9:30am and didn't get back until 3.00pm. We didnt even stop long enough for lunch or even a cup of coffee.

This was the one place we really were looking forward to. We were very disappointed with this tour. Our guide was a non-practicing Catholic- was in a hurry all the time - and at the end dropped us somewhere in the middle of Krakow. For the other tours we were dropped beside our hotels.

Although the tour lasted the 5 hours stated, and the tour guide very good, we would have liked to have had an hour to ourselves to take a look around Wadowice itself, as a good example of a typical small town in Poland.
