Kuala Lumpur City Highlights Tour

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Explore the charm of Kuala Lumpur on a morning or afternoon sightseeing tour that blends old-world character with a modern metropolis. An informative guide points out the contrast between Indo-Moorish architecture and ultra-modern edifices like the old and new King’s Palace and Merdeka (Independence) Square against a growing city skyline dominated by the Petronas Twin Towers. Other highlights include the National Museum, National Mosque and the Royal Selangor Visitor Center, where you'll gain insight on pewter smithing and innovative pewter-ware design. Round-trip hotel transport is included.

Perfect for first-time visitors, this three-hour tour provides a comprehensive introduction to Kuala Lumpur's famous sights, leaving you with a knowledgeable base for exploring the city at your leisure. Meet your local guide upon pickup from your city hotel in the morning or afternoon, and embark on your narrated tour by comfortable coach.
Head to multiple Kuala Lumpur attractions, making photo stops at the King's Palace — a symbol of Malaysian sovereignty — as well as Merdeka Square (aka Independence Square), which features a panorama of fascinating buildings in an array of architectural styles. Your guide offers informative commentary on the city’s growing skyline, whose ultra-modern structures tower above edifices with Indo-Moorish influence.
Gaze up at the Islamic geometric patterns on the 88-story Petronas Twin Towers, whose multifaceted walls and twin spires contain thousands of steel and glass panels.
Your journey continues with a visit to the National Museum to see historic Malaysian artifacts, from traditional weapons and costumes to modern arts and crafts and musical instruments.
Then, drive past the beautiful Lake Gardens on your way to view the National Monument, commemorating Malaysia's struggle for freedom during World War II. Nearby, admire the modern construction of the National Mosque and the pleasant combination of Eastern and Western architecture of the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station.
The final stop on your sightseeing tour of Kuala Lumpur is the Cocoa Boutique, where you will bask is a chocolate haven. Spend time browsing the amazing sweet selections.
Afterward, re-board your coach and end with drop-off at your hotel.

A whirlwind tour of some of the significant landmarks in KL. Worth the trip for getting your bearings to spend longer at chosen places later.

Our experience with Viator has always been 5-star in more than a dozen tours we took. This one is an exception. In this less than 3-hour trip, almost right at the beginning, we spent 20 minutes at a chocolate factory, and another 20 minutes at a batik factory the guide admitted these are for propaganda purposes. We were give only 30 minutes to visit National Museum which is in a main building with a few adjoining buildings. The guide had said he will walk us through the museum and explain Malaysia's history. But he stayed back in the bus. We strayed around not knowing how to get into the main building. It also needed a ticket which is normally included in the tour. In the end, none of about 20 tourists saw anything of the National Museum. Overall, it was a disappointment, particularly when you have only one day to see Kuala Lampur

Horrible. First problem was they would not pick me up at the KL Hilton even though it was on the list. I was forced to take a taxi in rush hour traffic to get to the main meeting point._br/_ The tour itself consisted of two shopping stops which had nothing to do with the tour. Tour director kickbacks.

Our guide was David. He picked us up from our hotel. There were 3 more guests doing this tour with us. He gave us enough time at each place to visit and take photos. Gave us enough information about each place. Tour was short but enough to know about the main historical places in KL. Also visited the Royal Selangor, which was a first for us. After the tour, David dropped us at Low Yat Plaza at our request. Tour and guide both recommended.

This trip is highly recommended for first timers to Kuala Lumpur. My wife and I had only one other guest and our driver was very friendly and his driving was exceptional.

Nice tour - covered the highlights. However, could have covered more history and better explanations of the places that were being visited.

We were ushered around town with a private guide and were shown so many interesting sights. They also let us tailor what we wanted to see and then dropped us off where we nominated. Nothing was too much trouble for the guide. Excellent tour.

Our guide was quite articulate and interesting. The sites we visited were varied and the time we spent was well used. This was an excellent introduction to the city.

Good tour for a quick orientation of some of the top sights in Kuala Lumpur. Guide communicated very well and was able to answer questions providing good insights to the areas visited.

Friend and I did this tour our first day in Kuala Lumpur and we were both very disappointed. We got very little information about the places where we stopped, we might as well have rode a city bus. I’ve used Viator to book tours all over the world and usually love them.

There were only 2 people on this tour and we had a wonderful guide, David. He was charming, knowledgeable and a good communicator. We had plenty of time at each stop to look around and the tour of the Selangor Pewter company was particularly interesting.

This tour gives you a good general overview of the area. We only booked it because we had time to kill before our evening food tour. Nothing we saw too exciting.

It's a glorified taxi. They say all the entrance fees are included, but you need to carry 5MYR in cash for the National Museum. There is no defined agenda, the driver takes you whenever they want and some of the highlights you just drive by.

Great seeing a different city that I remember, new city with a few old place to add to the mix, our tour guide was full of knowledge of the city.

This tour includes many stops such the national museum, the king's palace... Our tour guide knew a lot but made some inaappropriate remarks about certain groups of people. This was not professinnal attitude.

Not bad but many if the sites were closed.

I was incredibly disappointed with this tour. The guide was very nice and did his best to make it a good experience, but the pickup was delayed in more than one hour without any reasonable explanation and there were two places that were closed because of the holidays, so we had to backtrack in the middle of the tour - and the agency that organized the tour didn't know that? _br/_ Anyway. I wouldn't do it again - and don't recommend it to other people.

Not knowing what to do on our last day in KL we decided to take this tour and it turned out to be an excellent idea! Our guide, Nancy, was one of the best guides we ever had traveling all over the world._br/_ Once more we do thank her for lovely hours we've spent with her hoping we'll be back and enjoy her company.

Great tour with a very informative and friendly guide - great sense of humour and made the tour good fun, highly recommended. On return to our hotel the guide stopped by the Petronas Towers to take some photos of us, also dropped us off at Hard Rock Café as requested.

Basically, a taxi for some photo stops and a and #39;tour and #39; of a chocolate factory...... spent more time there than at the actual sights!!!!!!

The pick up experience is terrible and highly unorganized. The tour is a highlights tour. You really do not get to see much. I would opt for a more inclusive tour next time, this is really a waste of time if your time is limited in KL.

Actually was a good tour for the real part of it._br/_ We started by coffee and chocolate sellers when we are not there for buying this time of stuff._br/_ We just continue by souvenir and batik sellers when we are not there for buying this time of stuff._br/_ we see the palace from outside far enough !_br/_ The guide didn't go out of the bus with us._br/_ Fortunately the guide was good explaining the story of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia._br/_ We learn about Malaysia history but the tour visits were little bit light

I did not enjoy this tour and suggest that you read the most recent reviews with the low star ratings as they were similar to my experience. Consider this a photo stop tour that's not shy about taking you shopping. After stopping in front of the Petronas Towers for 10 minutes for photos, we were taken to a chocolate shop and then a batik factory. One guy on my tour was not happy about going shopping so soon into the tour neither was I but I hadn't said anything and when he complained to the tour guide, the guide was pretty rude to him. The 45 minutes at the National Museum was not interesting, in my opinion, because there was no one to give you context to everything. You were left to just wander around on your own.

The bus arrived 45 minutes late after 3 phone calls _br/_ Tour included all the sites mentioned in the advertisement _br/_ But like all Far East tours spent time in places that tried to sell their wares_br/_ Coffee and chocolates _br/_ The guide was knowledgeable and gave a commentary of places visited _br/_ At least coach returned us to our hotel at conclusion of the tour

This is not a tour. This is a driver with a vehicle who in our case was an hour late! who drives you from one point to another, gives little to none information, speaks barely understandable english and tries to make you go to places you don't want to go, like chocolate shop etc. This is actually second time when Viator ucks up with so called 'city tours' and I advise you to avoid it.

Fantastic service and great snapshot of some amazing attractions in KL. Personal highlights for me were Merdeka Square and the KL City Gallery, The National Museum, the Royal Palace - viewed from outside only as no admission for public, and the friendliness of our guide._br/_ I found the museum and gallery very informative and I could have spent more time - double than what was given which was only half an hour- at the former. First two stops were a leather goods outlet and a Batik showroom. The vendors at the Batik store were very eager to sell so beware their use of persuade salesmanship!_br/_ Overall a great day, fortunate enough to have good weather, a small and friendly group of fellow travellers in the tour, amd am excellent guide by the name of Hari Krishna.

Light tour of the temple, museum and a few photo stops. An inexpensive way to get a feel for the city and the sights as a starter. We had already been in KL for over a week when we took this tour, so probably less informative for us than others.

Excellent first tour in Kuala Lumpur. Our guide was very entertaining. All of the stops are interesting, particularly the National Museum and historical buildings. One of the highlights was the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory. Learning the company and #39;s history was fascinating. No pressure to buy anything

Our guide wasn't much of a guide, but more of a driver. He was very nice and friendly, just not full of the fun facts and story I've gotten from other tours booked on Viator. The tour consisted mostly of going to stops and being given time to look at them. We had 45 minutes at a museum and then 10 minutes at a memorial statue. It's a shame because from reading at the museum KL looks to have a very rich and exciting history that a good guide could really bring to life and help someone fall in love with the city. Unfortunately what's most memorable is the laughably bad sales stops at the end. Most tours have these where they stop to teach you about some local goods. In China this would be silk, in Bali it was coffee. In KL we got leather. The way it's supposed to work is they spend 15 to 20 minutes showing you each process and explaining how great the quality is, etc. At the end, you're super excited and asking them how much, do they ship...the product does the selling. At our leather stop our education was as follows:_br/_ Here's buffalo leather, here's sting ray. Special 50 off today Then we get followed around the shop and see prices with the discount that are more expensive than a high end department store in the west. We're talking 70 USD for a belt. Later I went to a street market and bargained a leather belt for 7 USD...10X markup! If you like the sights listed I would advise using your money to hire a driver for the day and give them the list...at least then you can skip sales stops.

Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting and stopped for photo shoots at lots of places. This tour is a great way to see the city in comfort and gives you a taste for further exploring or gives you all the main sights if you are short of time. The visit to the temple and the museum were the highlights.

At the end of this trip they refused to return me to my hotel and made me take the train back. I had only been in the country for 4 hours and knew nothing and had no choice. It was an absolute insult and a horrible end to an already boring tour.
