Red Rock Canyon Hiking Tour

Las Vegas, United States of America

Escape from the casinos and hike through gorgeous Red Rock Canyon, a favorite amongst Las Vegas locals. Your guide will present you with three trail options and help you select the best trail for you based on what you want to see and how far you want to hike. Round-trip transportation from the New York New York Hotel and Casino or the Mirage and bottled water is included.

Ever wonder was Vegas locals do for fun? Well escape the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas for a unique hiking experience in beautiful Red Rock Canyon. Join your local guide for a 3-hour hike on one of three popular trails within the park. On the day of your tour decide which trail of the following trails suits you best. Your guide will hike you through while providing interesting commentary and history about the canyon.

Calico Hills: this trail runs along the base of the Calico Rocks from Calico Basin to Sandstone Quarry. Distance is variable since the trail can be accessed at either end or from either of the two Calico parking areas. A side trail runs from the fee booth parking lot and connects with this trail. Hiking distance is 2.5-miles (4 km). Rating: easy to moderate.

White Rock to Willow Springs:
your guide will take the trail on the west side to the point where it splits. The trail to the right descends to a guzzler (man-made water hole). The trail to the left heads downhill and through a wash, then climbs over a ridge and drops you into the Lost Creek area. From there, it is only a short distance to Willow Springs. Starting from Willow Springs, just reverse the previous instructions. Hiking distance is 4.4 miles (7.8 km) roundtrip. Rating: easy to moderate.

Ice Box Canyon:
This trail heads down across the wash and up the other side toward the canyon. The trail is well defined as it leads you up the side of the canyon for approximately 1/4 of a mile (0.4 km). It then drops into the bottom of the canyon. From this point, the trail becomes a route over and around boulders as it continues upstream. The official trail ends at the large ponderosa pine tree in the bottom of the canyon which is 2.5-miles roundtrip (4 km). To reach the upper pool, which is filled by seasonal waterfall, be prepared for some tricky wall scrambling and a 3-mile (4.8 km) roundtrip. Rating: moderately strenuous.

This was the highlight of our Las Vegas trip. Our tour guide Irving was nothing short of amazing. We picked hike #2 and actually climbed up and over the canyon, to the most amazing view. 100% recommend this tour and can't say enough about Irving. Very knowledgeable and funny, he also made you feel very comfortable with the path we chose. _br/_ Can't wait to come back!

What an amazing day we had. I have to apologise to the service provider...I decided tonight it is a good time to say thanks to all the Viator service providers whom I promised to give reviews, but never got to it and who made our trips of the past few years so much fun. I am nearly 2 years late....but I have to mention that visiting Las Vegas was not my idea of how I want to spend a family vacation....shows and 'the strip'....but I will never think of Las Vegas as those things again. We met the most amazing people on this hike, kayaking and driving buggies in the desert....the hike into a valley was fantastic...we turned around at an amazing cliff, which my sons climbed, one nearly to the top... just a lot of fun and 'little moments' we thoroughly enjoyed it! and will definitely recommend i to anybody who wants to experience the real Las Vegas'! Out there in the veldt there are amazing gems to be discovered around the sprawling city!

What a great hike in a beautiful part of the desert. Our Guide, Irving, made the hike even better. He was able to show us how to safely navigate the terrain while providing us a great understanding of the history of Red Rock Canyon, the wildlife and the ecosystem. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our guide was in a hurry because he had to set up some people with bikes. He told us we would have 2 hours for our hike, but it was cut about 20 minutes because he was behind. We didn't have anytime to linger and take pictures. As the slowest of the group, I didn't see anything, my head was down watching my footing the whole time. Pretty disappointed. I hike a lot, but I like to take my time and enjoy my surroundings. I hike to feed my soul, not to quickly get a workout in and go home.

Our guide, Irving, was very positive, friendly, upbeat and encouraging! He took care of everyone at their own pace and helped watch out for things like trees along the way. Provided extra water and snacks, was knowledgeable about the canyon and what grows and lives there. Great group of fellow travelers, too!

What an incredible hike through Red Rocks! Our guide Irving was super cool and set a great pace to see the stunning views. Along the way he shared his vast knowledge of the local plants and animals. A passing helicopter spooked some mule deer up on the base of a rock formation. I definitely recommen

We went in August, which, I've been told, is the hottest time of year. However, there was a good breeze not so much that it was dangerous and the hike was enjoyable. There were only 3 of us and our guide so he tailored the hike to our fitness levels. The views were breath taking and the tour guide was informative. Definitely a highlight to our Las Vegas trip.

Just got back home from our 'bucket list' week long trip to Vegas. This trip far exceeded our expectations especially the Red Rock Canyon Hiking Tour! What a change of scenery from the casinos on the strip. I need to give a shout-out to our guide, Irving. We have been on a lot of adventures on our vacations but he ranks right up near the top. Ask him about his new found ability to do 'back flips'! We are in our early sixties but still had little difficulty with hike 3 the most strenuous. I would recommend pushing yourself a little and be rewarded with some spectacular views of Vegas from afar.

Irvine was a great tour guide, helped us as a group choose the best option for hiking. We went with the easy option, however easy does not mean boring! Saw amazing canyon walls and great views. A good break from Vegas glitz.

It was a superb hike involving scrambling and some climbing. It was tremendous fun and even though was extremely hot it was noticeably cooler than in Las Vegas strip! Our guide was very knowledgeable and helpful and pointed out creatures and bushes. The final climb to the lake was too much for us and so the guide went off on his own and then took advantage of a cooling swim in the lake. This did waste half and hour but I guess that the rest was a good idea. However, it then meant that we were half an hour late to meet up with the cycling trek. This annoyed them ....but for us it was fine! Many thanks t the guide. He aslo carried one ladies handbag and some spare water for us all in his rucksack!

Incredible experience! Our guide Irving was exceptional. He provided enough challenge for the adventuresome but also a sense of security for the cautious hikers. He was quick to share his knowledge, yet it was done in a conversational manner versus a lecture, ideal for our family of four After reading reviews about poorly marked trails, we elected to a book a tour, and we are so grateful that we did. Hands down, the Red Rock Canyon tour was the highlight of our week in Vegas.

Very nice, and highly recommended. Choose more difficult part of the trail if you can, but even the intermediate difficult option has some potential for bruised knees. Managed to see some interesting geological formations, plant life and great views of Las Vegas from the top.

Great guide! Fun group! I went on my own while my family went to the Hoover Dam which I'd already seen. The rest of the hiking group was inclusive and friendly. The tour guide gave us good information about the hiking options, was considerate of everyone in the group, and was informative. This tour was the best part of my Vegas trip.

Great tour! Irving was my guide and he was incredible. Knowledgeable, kind, paced the hike, and checked in with me. Felt safe, but definitely worked hard. Irving recommended a certain climb based on this experience that worked out great. I would highly recommend this Tour as the company is highly professional! Teri Murtha

Our guide could have been a little more informative like we did not know we were hiking in the Mohave Desert because we are from canada and little bits of info like that would be interesting to know. also i wanted to ideally hike the prettiest area which is hike number 2 which was closed and the guide didn't know that until we drove up to the area. i would think that the company would let the guides for the day know that ahead of time. other than that was beautiful day, company was great and guide was very nice i think his name was Irving? sorry bad w names

It was awesome and the guide was very friendly. The conditions were a bit more slippery than we expected. We chose hike 2 because the guide warned us that hike 3 was slippery. Still fun just with a bit more adrenaline added. The view was wonderful!

Irving was a fantastic guide. We weren't prepared for snow, but it just added to the beauty of the hike. I highly recommend this trip and my only comment would be to make sure that you wear waterproof hiking boots! Our best memory of Las Vegas was this trip!

Red Rock Canyon and the Calico Tanks Trail offered gorgeous views in every direction. The trail and the rock boulders were relatively easy to navigate making the experience one of total enjoyment. This was an in and out hike so we retraced our steps when returning to the trailhead. Irving was helpful in pointing out the rock formations and shrubs. We did the hike in the afternoon and watched the light change as it reflected on the sandstone rock. In retrospect, I might have liked to have further challenged myself by climbing some of the tougher boulders. There's always that next time.

This was a great hike to get to see something of Vegas off the strip. Our guide did a good job of taking us through the park. I would suggest a little more information to customers about what to expect. The sheet referenced hiking with pick up at 8 and return around 1pm. We were done and back closer to 11:30 so for the money, it would have been nice to keep going until the time noted. Otherwise, it was good and I would use the company again. However I might do a little more research before booking._br/_ Thanks

This is a must for a trip to Vegas! Take a break from the crowds and smoke-filled casinos and in a short half hour's drive you will find yourself in gorgeous Red Rock Canyon. Our guide, Brian, was fantastic - knowledgeable, courteous, funny and had a good sense of what our group's abilities were and customized our hike accordingly. Highly recommend, this was our favorite event of the entire weekend.

My wife and I really enjoyed our hike. Our guide, Irving, was great. The hike took us up to the top of a mountain with a spectacular view of Las Vegas. You don't have to be a super athlete to make this hike, but better not be a couch potato either! We will return for another hike with Irving next year !

We had a great time on our hike. It was just 4 of us and the tour guide and we had great conversation. It was a real hot day but we came with water and snacks and luckily the tour guide had extra water because we really needed it.. I also brought a cover up to shade from the sun-good idea!! which made it easier with the heat.
