Take a break from the glitz of Las Vegas and escape to the gorgeous natural scenery in Valley of Fire State Park with this morning or afternoon hiking tour. Marvel at petrified wood and 3,000-year-old American Indian petroglyphs as you take an easy, moderate or difficult guided hike through Nevada's oldest state park. During your 4-, 5- or 6-hour tour, you'll also pass through the Moapa River Indian Reservation and catch sight of Lake Mead. This small-group tour is limited to 13 people to ensure more personalized attention from your guide.
After pickup from your Las Vegas hotel at sunrise, in the late morning or in the early afternoon, travel by jeep or van 55 miles (89 km) to Valley of Fire State Park, the oldest state park in Nevada. On the way, pass Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Nellis Air Force Base. If you wish, you can stop at Moapa River Indian Reservation to shop for duty-free liquor, cigarettes and fireworks. As you approach the entrance to the park, you'll glimpse Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake in the United States.
Once inside Valley of Fire State Park, your friendly and knowledgeable guide leads you to the trailhead for your selected hike. (See options below.) During your 4-, 5- or 6-hour tour, your guide tells you about the geological forces — including faulting and erosion — that created the distinctive red rock formations. Hear about the various American Indian tribes that have called the park home for thousands of years. You'll have periodic breaks to take photos of the gorgeous natural landscape and recharge with complimentary snacks and water.
Following your hike, take a short tour of the Valley of Fire State Park visitor center to learn more about the park before the hour-long drive back to your Las Vegas hotel.
Easy Hike: This hike is great for families and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels who can complete a 2-hour hike. An easy walk allows you to see some of the many ancient petroglyphs in the park.
Moderate Hike: This moderate hike takes you at a leisurely pace; a good level of fitness is required. Explore the dramatic red rock formations that give the park its name while you scramble and climb through boulders, crevasses, brush, peaks and plateaus.
Difficult Hike: More intense then the shorter hikes, this option is recommended for avid hikers. You’ll cover more challenging terrain for the most captivating views!
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. Our guide John was a exceptional guide, a pleasure to be with. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and eager to point out attractions along the way as soon as we left the hotel. We absolutely enjoyed the drive to the park which was a sight seeing tour in itself and once we reached the park the sights were stunning , John pointed out all the local plants and herbs as well as local animal that were around. The whole experience was well worth the effort and cost. We took a half day afternoon easy hike which was just right for us. Ask for John on your trip you will be very happy you did.

The Valley of Fire State Park is amazing. We had a great trip. John, our guide, was fantastic. He’s filled with all kinds of knowledge, and eager to share. We learned about formations, plant life, and local animals. And the views are wonderful. I recommend this trip.

Valley of Fire has spectacular multicolor rock formations and blue blue skies. Chad, our guide for Love Hikes difficult afternoon hike led us off trail up and down the formations like kids on a jungle gym. Great views. Good exercise. Chad brought water and snacks. Occasionally over the 5 hour hike Chad led the more adventurous couple up for even greater views. I was happy for a chance to sit and enjoy the scenery. _br/_ Sunset was beautiful against the colorful rocks at end of hike. The road out of Valley of Fire park showed us two foxes, a bighorn sheep, and several tiny mice. We were happy hikers.

I was in a group of 3, hard am tour, with John as guide, who took us on a fantastic completely unique off-the-trail route. John was a great guide, carrying our snacks/water and making the experience very personable and interesting. Views were amazing. Couldn't recommend enough! Thanks John+LoveHike!

Daniel was an amazing tour guide and person. I was the only person on the tour but I had a fantastic time. The hike was a good length of time and was able to see so much of the beautiful park. We ended up seeing a lot of wildlife, which was amazing. I loved every part of the tour and would do it again, as well as recommend it to friends and family. Thank you!!

I did an early morning hike with my two daughters who are 8 and 12. We chose the moderate level hike which turned out to be just right. It was probably something like 2.5-3 hours of actual hiking which was certainly not easy given the extreme heat even in the very early morning hours. But guide John carried 14 bottles of water in his backpack and kept us on mostly shaded trails once the sun came out. Much to my kids delight there was a lot of rock climbing involved which definitely helped keep the younger one from complaining. Since it was just the three of us it appears that groups are always that small we had a lot of input of where we wanted to go, how much climbing we wanted to do etc. So there is flexibility. We all loved the hike.Guide John gave us a lot of information, pointed out Coyote and snake trails and all kinds of plants and even told us a lot of things about LV and surroundings on the drive to the Valley which took about an hour. The pick up was at 5am which seems very early but is really worth it because we got to see the sun rise over the valley which was priceless. I would absolutely recommend this tour. There is no way I could have done a hike like that on my own, I would have gotten lost, trails are not marked well at all. And we really didn't hike on marked trails anyway. Thumbs up!!

I had a wonderful time on the Mouse Tank trail in the Valley of Fire with guide Daniel. Beautiful, distinct petroglyphs. Desert vegetation. Lizards. Scenery. Daniel was very knowledgeable and professional. It was very hot though end of July, but we had plenty of water along.

Was the only client to show up for the tour. My guide went out of his way to provide me with the best experience possible for the intermediate hike. Not only was he an excellent guide, he was an all around good guy and shared life stories that added to the overall depth of the trip. His first hand knowledge of the park and its inhabitants made for one outstanding and memorable trip. Would highly recommend for anyone at any fitness level.

Originally I had planned on renting a car and going myself because I'm pretty independent. I decided against it, because I don't always do well with heat and thought maybe I shouldn't be hiking alone. If renting a car yourself is something you are thinking of doing - don't. There were no trail markers, and the trail itself was short. Our guide took us much farther and off the trail. I would have never been able to do this by myself, I would have gotten lost if I had tried.

I really enjoyed my hike in the Valley of Fire. Dan, our guide, was courteous and knowledgeable and the group was small enough for him to be able to provide personal attention to each of us. Even though I begged him, he wasn't able to find us a real, live rattlesnake, but we saw great barrel cacti they don't hide so well and played 'nature detective' trying to identify what animals had made tracks in the sand. It was by far the most authentic and rewarding part of this traveller's visit to the Las Vegas area. And no one got bit.

Incredibly beautiful hike through the Valley of Fire. Our guide was helpful and informative, while at the same time not over talkative so that we could enjoy the peacefulness and spirituality of our surroundings. I would love to come back and spend more time there. My only suggestion is to provide a step for getting into the jeep. I'm in my 60's, and only 5 feet tall. I was difficult for me to jump into the jeep.

This trip with Love Hikes was the BEST ever! John who guided me and this one other person was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. He knew the hike trails extremely well and ensured we got our monies worth. It was a 2 hour hike which was wonderful. I had so much fun that I wished it was 3 hours! In all it was a memorable experience from the scenery to the experience from the get go! Highly recommend them! Will definitely do this again if I am ever back in Vegas. I did the moderate level btw.

Our guide Chad took me and my two kids age 8 and 9 on an amazing off trail hike in the park. The moderate level hike is fun and challenging. We had a great time climbing the rocks and boulders. We saw big horn sheep. Chad is knowledgeable about the terrain, plants, animals and all different kinds of animal footprints. Some places are tricky and challenging for us and I am grateful that Chad kept us safe throughout. He can tell you exactly where to put your foot or hold on to at tricky spots. You will never be able to do a hike like this without a good guide. If you or your kids are relatively new to hiking, the easy hike will be the option for you. If want some challenge and are comfortable with heights, the moderate level would be fun. Make sure to wear good hiking boots.

Valley of Fire is an amazing park! Even though it is a public park about 60 mins from Las Vegas, hiking w/ LoveHikes tour guide John made it so much more special. As a fairly new hiker, I picked the moderate hike for a bit of a morning workout. John was on time in pick-up, very knowledgeable about the park's flora and fauna we saw Big Horn sheep grazing, and took us off the regular path to explore. It was a great way to start the day!

Great outdoor adventure with Adam as our guide. We started our adventure spotting a couple of mountain goats, then followed them over rocks, through slot canyons and down narrow tails. Their tracks always before us. Our guide assessed as we went our fitness level and designed our tour to be a personal and fabulous memory, sharing his love of the outdoors and for Valley of Fire with us. He totally succeeded. We brought back great memories to Michigan. I highly recommend this tour.

One of the best tours of my lifetime. Valley of Fire is one incredible place on Earth that you must visit to consider your life accomplished. This red rock formation is crafted by wind in unimaginable shapes and forms. The fine beautiful red sand in that area is created from the rocks and you must hurry up to see it before it all crumbles into pieces. The highlight of the trip was seeing the bighorns climbing the rocks. I was in luck to get Adam Bautz as a tour guide. Adam is the BEST!!! He knows everything: geology, wildlife, botany, you name it. He took a lot of beautiful pictures with his professional camera and sent them to me. He is funny and easy to connect. Adam adjusted the difficulty level when I apparently couldn't climb down. Many, many thanks to Adam for giving me the opportunity to see the beautiful world called Valley of Fire. I will come again!!!

It was a splendid experience. Although we have toured many places in this world, Dan was the finest we have ever had. I have very poor hearing but his voice and elocution allowed me to hear and understand most everything. We were also amazed at his formidable knowledge on every relevant subject. We are in our late seventies and he matched the tour speed and difficulty axactly to our capabilities. Dan made the trip a complete delight.

If you're looking for something different to do while staying in Vegas and you want a break from the bright lights and people and noise then how about using Love Hikes to take you to and show you round the Valley of Fire? You can choose a short, medium or long hike and the guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you here. It is around 60 minutes North of the Vegas Strip. Our guide was fantastic and kept us entertained and informed all the way to and from the Valley, as well as being an excellent guide when we arrived. There are three main trails here, The White Domes Road, the Rainbow Vista trail and Prospect Trail. It is easy to stay to the main areas but if you are with a guide they can take you 'off piste' and show you lesser known or travelled areas. The views and rock formations are fantastic. The bright red colours and the way that the rocks have eroded with the wind and rain is quite unique. You can also see Mountain Goats wondering here, and during the colder months such as November you can sometimes even see Tarantulas navigating via the edge of the road. Many rocks even have Petroglyphs etched into them from hundreds or even thousands of years ago by the local indiginous population. If you are in the area and have seen all that Vegas has to offer of even if you haven't yet! I highly recommend a trip outside to the 'real' wild Nevada!

This is was such a wonderful hike! Our guide took his time in explaining everything to us and showed us some hieroglyphics too. Also got to climb a boulder, which was the highlight of this tour for me! The morning was cool but about an hour after the hike, the sun felt very hot to make sure you take some snacks and water. Daniel, our guide did carry water bottles with him and some snacks so we could all have some, if needed. I would highly recommend Love Hikes for this tour.

I loved my first true experience rock scrambling on an off trail hike in Valley of Fire. Dan was amazing and patiently guided me through the scary moments on ledges and finding foot placements. He was quite knowledgeable about the background of the area and the desert shrubbery. He always gave us options so it was our choice to go outside of our comfort zone. The hike was very exhilarating and worth the hour's ride. We also saw petroglyphs and even a big horned sheep. The scenery was amazing!_br/_ Linda Platt
