2-Day Rail Trip to Paris from London

London, United Kingdom

With France situated only a few miles across the English channel, a little over 2.5 hours away on the Eurostar, you won't want to miss this opportunity to spend a night in the City of Lights.

Depending how you prefer to travel, you have the choice of a fully independent or an escorted tour.

INDEPENDENT:
Board the Eurostar, sit back and relax, arriving into Paris in just 2 hours and 40 minutes. On arrival into Paris Gare du Nord the rest of the day is free for you to explore Paris. Your accommodation is in a centrally located 3 star hotel.

Whilst in Paris you can use your ticket on the Hop On Hop Off City Tour to see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, the Champs Elysees etc. at your leisure. The tour gives you the opportunity to have total independence to see what you want, when you want.

ESCORTED:
Day One (Fully Escorted)
- Travel from London and on arrival enjoy a guided panoramic tour which will show you all the main sights of Paris, and includes a stop at the second level of the Eiffel Tower. The tour finishes at the Louvre where you will have free time for lunch. In the afternoon board a boat for a romantic guided River Seine cruise followed by an optional visit of the Louvre (admission not included). Make your own way to your comfortable, air-conditioned 3-star hotel.

Day Two (Unescorted)
- After breakfast the day is free for you to explore independently. With your one day Hop on Hop off tour ticket you can explore the sights of Paris. This is by far the easiest way to get about in Paris and enables you to concentrate on your main areas of interest.

You will arrive in Paris at approximately 11:00am on Day One, and depart Paris between 8:30pm and 9:15pm, arriving into London between 10:00pm and 10:30pm on Day Two.

This trip was with Evan Evan tours, it was strange because I was the only person who had booked the escorted tour. There was a couple who took the train in with me and did the louver and Notre Dam, but then we parted ways there. Not to say this was a bad experience, my guide, Sammy, was extremely nice and helped me when my bag broke to find another at a reasonable cost, he also helped me check into my hotel and was exceedingly pleasant. He helped me store my bags the first day so I wouldn't have to lug them around and the best part was the next day, which was unescorted, I ran into him the train station and he helped me find what I was looking for even though he had another group that day. All in all, I was not unhappy with the experience.

Absolutely disgusted. Guide who was rude. Guide who didn and #39;t guide. No Eiffel Tower entry. Accom in a red light district which was filfthy. We could not stay there and didn and #39;t feel safe. We paid for better accommodation and an uber to get us out of there. Would have been better organising it myself.

Meet friendly lady at St Pancras Station to get our tickets and info on itinerary etc. As my daughter and I were travelling alone, we booked the group tour, for safety as much as anything. Turned out we were the only 2 on the guided tour. Sammy, our tour guide, was lovely. He was very helpful and informative. We really enjoyed the sights and the high light was the Eiffel Tower. Our accommodation was handy and clean. Our experience included 1 night accom, 2 day Hop On Hop Off ticket and a river cruise on the Seine. Sammy meet us at the station in Paris mid morning and left us at our accom around 5.30pm

Fantastic trip. Thank you to our tour guide Sammie. Everything was as stated and organized. Lots of walking, but worth it. Sights, sounds, history and culture was incredible. Accommodations in Paris were modern and very comfortable. This was a perfect way to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

The tour was as advertised. We did not take part in the guided tour and only took advantage of the coordination of train,hop-on hop-off bus, and hotel accommodations. The train was timely, clean and comfortable. No complaints there. Bus, good for those wishing to secure an overall view of the city. I personally thought much time was lost in traffic along with the ons/offs stops, which of course makes this a great choice for many. I am a walker so that's my mode of choice, however in this case co traveler's choice won out. As far as I'm concerned much of the day was lost on a bus but if check off site tours is your choice...this is for you. Last but not least was the pre-selected hotel, which was near the Nord train station...true. The location was not comforting as we arrived to an alley like entrance strewn with trash and an unfortunate individual asleep on his sleeping bag in a corner of the building. Later in the evening our re-entrance to the hotel's neighborhood was improved and initial intake had to be reassessed. The hotel within was quite acceptable. Clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful and the personnel great! Maybe we arrived on a bad day and normally this wouldn't be one's impression, however it is ours and I will be quite skeptical about relying again on a pre-assigned location. Suggestion is to question the area and get a feel for the area in which hotel is located. Must add, MANY hotels are located around the train station, which of course is understandable. Are all train station areas susceptible to a more varied composition of people?

Paris 2 day Escort and non-esc. Terrible! Do not recommend! Had to carry overnight bag all day on a crowded local hop on and off Bbus, figure out hotel location on our own. Lunch a joke, no option but a grungy joint, 25 minutes to eat. Bbus only ran fm 9:30am to 8:00 pm. No good for night travel.

This tour was not what we anticipated at all. Escorted suggested to us, that we would have a guide who would share their knowledge of the places we were visiting not just drop us there and be left to our own devices. Then herded onto the next Big Bus that happened to be passing._br/_ We did not go up the Eiffel tower, there was no explaination for that, Paris was deserted so there were no queues. In fairness, we did go to the Louvre and he did suggest a nice place for lunch._br/_ The hotel was OK and the lady on reception in the afternoon was very helpful._br/_ These are the two things that really made us angry._br/_ We had our bags as we were staying overnight. They were left at the Big Bus office, in plain view for anyone to interfer with, then when we went to collect them, the staff DEMANDED 10 EURO for each bag for looking after them . Needless to say they didn't get it. Then, our guide stood over my husband DEMANDING a tip when he pointed us in the direction of our hotel._br/_ We have used Viator tours often and found them very good, but Evan Evans you need to get the Paris end of your tour sorted.

Very poor tour guide, essentially did not pay attention to us but just was the shepherd on and off the Big Bus tour. The Viator description included the Eiffel tower but the fine print in the tour literature the actual company providing the tour said that Eiffel tower was at the guide's discretion - and, in fact, we did NOT get to go up in the Eiffel Tower - a BIG disappointment. I would NOT recommend this tour. Only bright spot: The hotel was decent. This was the first time I have been disappointed by a Viator product.

Paris - a great city to visit. Our tour guide was not at all interactive. We don't even know his name since he didn't put any effort in introducing himself to our group. Didn't take us to the top of Eiffel tower. Felt we could have done this tour ourselves.

My sister and I both in our mid 70's took the two day tour to Paris and it was absolutely fantastic. The preparation of bookings and meeting at Railway Station was perfect. Our Tour Leader in Paris was fantastic. We had aa two day pass and really saw much of Paris. Value for our money, and will always recommend your Company. Thank you. Very disgusting. There was no water, either to flush the toilets or wash hands in the basin. For a vaunted European train, this came as a third world culture shock!_br/_ And this happened on the return trip too!

My friend and I recently did the paris over night trip. It began with the Evans and Evans rep meeting us at the train station. We were given our package and a little info about where to meet rep in paris. Train trip was all good and we meet rep easily at train station. He assisted in storing our small cases at rain station before we were on the bus to start tour. As soon as we were on the bus we were told that we would not be going to the Eiffel Tower as the line was too long so we were taken to the louvre. Although we were ok with this as it was something we wanted todo, we were never given the option. We then went to Notre dame and a few other places. When we asked were the hotel was , we were told it wasn't on the map. Although the day allowed us to experience many sights etc the low point was the uncertainty of getting to the hotel. The bus took us back to the train station and then we had to find our own way to the hotel. The hotel was along way from the train station and not on the bus route for the hop on and hop off. The hotel was very nice. Perhaps providing a hotel drop off service could be considered as this caused us stress wondering how to get there , or one that is closer to train station.

DO NOT waste your money with this so-called guided tour. Nothing more than hop on hop off bus, the so call guide is terrible and then at the end of first day you are left to your own devices to find the hotel that has been booked for you. (which meant we had to walk 2 and a half kilometers from Eiffel tower with a rough mud map to hotel).....Any one thinking of booking this tour PLEASE look elsewhere or organize your own accomodation...terrible experience

We had a great day with Charlotte. She was a great tour guide. It was a big group and she was very knowledgeable. We had a fun day and loved it. It's a lot to try to do in one day. It was pretty rushed but she did the best that she could with the time that she had to work with. We enjoyed the river cruise and the lunch at the Eiffel Tower. The Louvre just really needs to have a week to itself but she showed us some highlights and I enjoyed what she showed us. Loved Charlotte! She was a lot of fun.

Our trip to Paris worked out well, good tour and guide. However,we were very disappointed with the hotel as it was very far from the station and we had to take a taxi which cost us 30 euros. The following morning.we again had to take a taxi back to the station to store our luggage so we could go on the hop-on,hop-off bus which was another 30 euros. When I phoned in advance to let the tour people know that we would be there, the man I spoke to told me that our luggage would be dropped off at the hotel before the tour started.Of course this wasn't possible and our tour guide told us that we had to store it at the station which cost us 10 euros on the 1st day and another 10 euros the 2nd day. Therefore between the 2 taxi rides at 30 euros each and the 2 storages at 10 euros each,we spent 80 euros which we had not planned on._br/_ We also met 2 other women who had booked a 2-day Paris trip from London and their hotel was 2 blocks from the station, saving them taxi money. We also saw many hotels in the area around the station,so we didn`t know why we were so far away.If we had known all this,we wouldn`t have gone or we would have taken the 1-day tour which the other people in our group had done.

The tour guide was not helpful and not very interested in what he does. He will tell you about the history abt paris in this book of pictures. He doesnt go in details. He doesnt seem to have much time management skills. The hop on and off was a joke too. The driver doesnt sseem to be helpful as well

Loved the trip as a whole but disappointed as there is a hotel pick up advertised on the voucher which is NOT available and I was not told this till I rang to confirm the booking a few days beforehand. Also, if you are doing the overnight stay, you have to take your luggage with you all day so be aware of this and maybe take a back pack. Guide is good but is not with you a lot of the time which can be daunting trying to find your way back to a meeting point at the end of the day. Loved Paris but these factors impacted on my trip.

the escorted tour was disappointing as it was only having a "tour guide" escort you to the hop on hop off bus and then advised to get off at particular stops.

Booking through Viator was the best thing we could have done. I had to phone them as my hotel in London was not on the list as a pick up point. The agent couldn't have been any nicer. She arranged for a car service to collect us from the hotel and drop us off at the train station. An agent from the tour company was there to greet us, with documents in hand. Our tour guide Sammy, greeted us upon arrival. Everything was as smooth as it could be. The hotel selected for us was located in Montmarte. It was a very nice hotel in a perfect location. Sacre Couer was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I deducted one star from the review because of seating on the Eurostar. I requested the standard train trip versus first class on the Eurostar. I felt like I was in a cattle car. The seats chosen were the worst of the worst. They need to work out a better system with Eurostar; choose seats for their tour passengers well in advance. Don't wait a week before departure. If you can afford the extra money, I advise upgrading to first class. All in all I had nothing too major to complain about. It was a wonderful 2 days laid out by the tour company. I will most definitely use them again for future tours.

My 2 day rail trip to Paris was really great. Our guide did a phenomenal job getting into places easily and keeping us on the go all day. My only disappointment was not going onto the Eiffel Tower. The line was several hours long and we would have spent too much of our tour in line. My wife and I travelled to Versailles the second day and truly enjoyded the palace. We would not have been able to see all that we did on our own.

Viator was great, Paris... not so. Arrangements were handled well, including prompt hotel pick-up in London. We had escorted tour and our tour guide was the best! The guided tour itself was well arranged and we were able to see a lot. Again, our guide was the best. The hotel was actually quite good. Large room (by European standards), good amentities, nice breakfast included. Hotel was conveniently located. Unfortunately, we find Paris a dirty city and the traffic congestion made the bus tour very slow for the most part. We opted to upgrade to first class for the return train trip, which was a bit of splurge, but it was nice to have more comfortable seats and beverages and a mice meal as we relaxed on the trip back to London.

The trip felt unorganized. However, once we finally found the tour guide, he was more than helpful and welcoming. The hotel was disgusting and located far outside the city. Not only was this was more than inconvenient; it was also completely unsafe. We do not speak French, were unfamiliar with the public transportation system ahead of time AND the hotel was located in a very unsafe neighborhood. This nearly ruined the trip.

LOndo end was good but in Paris the guide would you leave to go to the hotel and hotels was messed up as they provide two twin beds for a couple and breakfast was lousey. WE could not find hopon bus and thus the second day we had to depend on Metro including getting the train back. I suggest people get Mtero card for the day than bus as few of our ftriends who depended on Bus to get the train back almost missed it due to traffic jam. Guide pretty much leave you alone at Notardam and othe r[laces accept Eiffel tower.

The main problem with this 2 day trip was that we were never allowed to stop at the hotel or at least store our luggage. We were the only couple on the escorted 2 day trip thus everyone else came first. Can you imagine toting around clothes and toiletries around the Eiffel Tower? The tour guide was awful, she lost us once and we had to run to the next stop which was a river cruise that consisted of riding in a closed boat to see the sites. It was so crowded and closed in that we couldn't take pictures. We didn't have the chance to eat till 4 pm after leaving at 6:30 am for the train. Yes, there was the beverage car but by the time I got up in the line they were out of pretty much anything. The best part of the trip was the Moulin Rouge which we booked ourselves. If you want to see Paris like this, do the one day tour or at least come back to London early the next morning.

Unless you know French, go with the guided tour! Paris was a nightmare on your own. I can master the Tube in London but was completely lost when it came to the Metro. Lots of people were rude, the hotel is pretty north of everything but still decently located, the hotel room was not all that nice either but right around the corner from Moulin Rouge where I had amazing memories from the year before.

Overall it was a lovely trip with the escorted tour on day 1, and free time on day 2. The hotel was located in Montmarte and just around the corner from Moulin Rouge. We walked to the artist area and visited the Dali museum - Montmarte is a beautiful place. The only drawback was when the tour guide brought us back to the Le Gare Du Nord at the end of day 1 and explained the departure procedures for those on the day trip only, and was prepared to head off without explaining to those of us staying overnight. And later we realized the tour guide did not hand us the hop onoff ticket valid on the second day too. Left a message in mobile voice mail but didn't get a response. Luckily we spent day 2 in Montmarte and didn't need to ride the tour bus.

Hotel was great, within walking distance to a metro. We did the independent trip which was perfect for us. We felt the sightseeing bus Cars Rouges was not as good as the Big Bus tours in London. Overall, trip was a good exposure to Paris sights.
