Leeds Castle, Cliffs of Dover and Canterbury Day Trip from London with Guided Cathedral Tour

London, United Kingdom

Escape the hustle-bustle of London for a day and travel to the English countryside for a tour of Leeds Castle, Canterbury Cathedral and Dover. Enjoy a private viewing of beautiful Leeds Castle before the doors open to the public, get an exclusive tour inside UNESCO World Heritage–listed Canterbury Cathedral, and admire the symbolic White Cliffs of Dover. Listen to your guide's expert commentary throughout the day through your personal headphones.

Board a coach in central London in the morning, pop in your state-of-the-art Vox headphones and relax on the drive out of the busy city and into the scenic English countryside. Enjoy clear, crisp commentary about the sights from your guide, piping straight into your personal earbuds, adjusting the volume to your preferences. On the way, you’ll drive through Greenwich, home of the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian, where the world’s time is set.

Arrive at Leeds Castle before the crowds arrive for a tour of the 12th-century castle and grounds. Leeds Castle is picture-perfect, set in a shimmering lake and surrounded by idyllic greenery that spans 500 acres (202 hectares). Inside, admire a superb collection of medieval furniture and tapestries and Impressionist art, and learn how the castle has traded hands over the centuries. Stop by the bird aviary and try your hand at the castle's popular maze formed by towering hedges.
Next, head to Canterbury Cathedral, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage–listed Gothic church built in the 11th century. Canterbury Cathedral is considered the birthplace of English Christianity, so it comes with some fascinating history. With your Vox headphones, your guide has the unique privilege of leading your large group into the quiet cathedral for a tour of the treasures that lie inside.
Re-board the coach for a drive through the Kent countryside, known as the Garden of England, with its quaint villages and pretty landscapes. Reach the coast to admire the White Cliffs of Dover — towering chalk-white cliffs overlooking the historic English Channel. Look up to see England's largest castle, Dover Castle, looming on the hilltop.

After a day full of sightseeing, arrive back in London in the evening.

We wanted to get from London to Dover to catch our cruise ship--this was a GREAT way to get there! You have to coach to Dover anyway, without private transportion, so CATCH THIS TOUR! It is a relaxing ride with three very interesting stops! Leeds Castle is in use, well kept and therefore interesting how it operates. The grounds welcome visitors. Nice to have lunch at Canterbury and see the historic Cathedral which dominates the very small, charming town- we wanted to stay longer. We pre-arranged for our tour bus to drop us off as we drove through Dover. We stayed in Dover 2 nights at the Premier Inn before catching our cruise ship in this small port - all was very easy! Dover is a small, delightful, historic well-run port, much as it has always been- and well worth a day and a half between travels to tour the genius White Cliffs of WWII and the town beach- the ferry to the coast leaves from here also. Found good Italian food here! Take this tour for a relaxing day trip to the southern coast to and from London- or get off in Dover to catch your ship or ferry!

Excellent tour. It was great to see some of the countryside. We really enjoyed Leeds Castle. The lunch that was arranged by our guide Kevin was great and recommend that you do that. Canterbury Cathedral is a must see for any visitor to England. The Dover part of the tour was OK. Would have been outstanding if it included a tour of the castle. We do recommend this tour.

I really loved this tour. On the day of my trip traffic was light enough that we were also able to visit the war memorial on top of the Dover cliffs, which was a nice bonus. My primary purpose in booking this was to see Canterbury Cathedral, and happily there was enough time there that I didn't feel rushed. The only thing that made me a bit nervous was finding my way back to our meeting place to re-board the bus. The guide gave good verbal directions but I would have appreciated a handout with a map I can't always get the GPS on my phone to cooperate when traveling internationally.

This was a fantastic tour for me and my elderly grandmother. Not very demanding, but still interesting. However, the stop at the Cliffs of Dover was highly disappointing. While we were able to get a glimpse of the white Cliffs of Dover, the stop was so far away from them that there was not an opportunity for a good photo. Instead, I think more time in Canterbury or even a different stop would be better. Leeds Castle was very interesting, and the Canterbury Cathedral was gorgeous. My guide was very sweet and knowledgeable. Overall, a great trip.

We had headphones for the guided tours inside the castle, but unfortunately the reception was not very good so we couldn't really hear the guide most of the time. It was nevertheless a wonderful experience and an easy way to see these places.

My family and I booked the tour of Leeds Castle, Dover, and Canterbury Cathedral and absolutely loved it! This was our first trip to London and we knew we wanted to do a day trip to see some sights. Debra our tour guide was AMAZING!! We loved her. She was so informative and full of knowledge that really added to the experience. And she was so nice and caring!! Our driver Calvin was wonderful and did an absolute fantastic job driving us around. The tour bus was extremely comfortable and was so relaxing to look out at the English countryside. Leeds Castle was a dream come true to visit a real medieval castle. And Canterbury Cathedral was incredible. Debra did such a wonderful job at leading out tour through the cathedral and explaining a lot about it. I can't wait to visit England again and book another tour with this company.

It was amazing our guide and driver added a stop atop the cliffs of Dover at the war memorial. This made the tour memorable. Thank you.

The guide and the tour provider did everything right, but these just weren't very good stops. The Cliffs of Dover are a complete waste of time. They are obstructed by highways and are not remotely scenic or interesting. The castle and cathedral were okay, but could not compare with other sights I saw on this trip. They did not warrant almost four hours on a bus. I loved every other trip we took.

We booked this tour mainly to see the White Cliffs of Dover. We got nowhere near the cliffs. We were taken to a beach a few miles away and were told by our guide Kevin that there were no roads to get up to the cliffs. However, this was clearly not true since we could see people on platforms atop the cliffs. This was to be an 11 hour cruise but was only 9 hours.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to London over the 2017 Christmas holiday. The tour was operated by Evan Evans and the bus was comfortable with plenty of legroom I am 6'0, wifi, and USB outlets for charging your phone/camera. We had plenty of time at each stop and the guide could not have been more professional. She even worked her magic at Leeds Castle and got permission for the bus to drop off/pick up at a spot much closer to the actual entrance rather than dropping us off in the coach park. We were provided with ear pieces and receivers which allowed everyone to clearly hear her excellent and informative commentary during our visit inside Canterbury Cathedral and Leeds Castle.

Leeds and Canterbury were fantastic. The trip to the cliffs was long and not worth it. You literally jump out of a bus to take a photo. Best views are apparently from the water so it would have been better to skip this stop all together

The Leeds Castle setting is as lovely as it appears in photos. As there was a university graduation on at the cathedral on the day of our tour, access to the cathedral was extremely limited and as this was to be the highlight of the tour for me I was very disappointed.

Bit of a hassle finding the start location. Large group, full size coach with driver and guide on board. Kevin our guide was informative and fun. He had to repeat everything he said as it was a bilingual tour, this resulted in his nearly nonstop talking for the entire trip out. Leeds Castle is lovely, but was set up to reflect its most current former owner, a wealthy Lady from the last century, with less emphasis on its historic Royal connections. Very quiet at the time we were there. Lunch was very basic3 choices but good : 64 GBP for a group of 4 incl a pint each. Nice guided walk to the cathedral after lunch, with an interesting commentary inside. Beautiful place. Lots of time to explore this beautiful place. On to a very short visit to the cliffs, with just a few minutes for photos and an even shorter stop for a view from a distance of the castle. We were disappointed that time did not allow us to explore this iconic castle. 2 hour trip back to London got us back exactly when promised. Very long day with much time needed just to get in and out of London. Being dropped off right outside our hotel was a much appreciated bonus.

Very expensive tour for what was offered. The tour guide spoke too much Japanese language for the amount of Japanese tourist that were on the bus, 4 out of 28 were Japanese.

I personally found it disappointing we didn't get closer to the cliffs - we were dropped off a fair distance from the cliffs so you need a good lens on your camera if you want a decent photo.

Travel from London's Victoria Coach Station to Leeds Castle was pleasant but took longer than normal - due to accident on the highway, driver had to take alternate route. Leeds Castle and the surrounding area is beautiful. Lots to see and explore here. Made our way to Canterbury but were not able to tour the Cathedral. This was quite disappointing but we spent our time walking around the city. There was a special meeting of priests in the Cathedral so all tours were cancelled for the day. Then on to Dover to see the White Cliffs. We spent some time walking around and took pictures before heading back to London. Guide and Driver were very nice and informative.

Leeds Castle was lovely and we had plenty of time there too much time. Canterbury Cathedral was magnificent and well worth seeing. The town of Caterbury was very cute with lots of shops and restaurants. I wish we had spent more time here. The visit to the cliffs of Dover was VERY disappointing. The cliffs are striking, but we barely saw them. We drove into town past a lovely view of the cliffs, and then parked in the harbor where you could hardly see the cliffs. There is a fort on top of the cliffs that we did not visit at all. The harbor of Dover is a rock beach with some well worn buildings and some big docks. Not very interesting or pretty. You do NOT see the cliffs anything like the pictures in their advertising.

The to the locations the guided tour was handled fine, but back to London from Dover it was quite quite, guide has chosen not to tell anything. In general tour is quite nicely packed, I would expected to spend a bit more time in Leeds Castle and to have it guided.

I loved this tour. I went by myself and loved every minute. Lynette our guide was brilliant as was Michelangelo our driver. Leeds Castle was beautiful and I even had time to complete the Maze. This Castle most certainly earns its 'most beautiful' accolade. Dover was a tick off my wish list and not exactly what I had imagined. Canterbury Cathedral was definitely worth the visit and Lynette gave us all the amazing history. A stunning Cathedral.

Was looking forward to Canterbury cathedral, but due to a once a year meeting of clergy, the cathedral ended up being closed and us notified about an hour into the journey there. The guide modified our trip to give us more time at leeds to make up for it, but such a disappointment to miss out on Canterbury Cathedral.

Although a dreary day with off and on showers the tour was incredible and well worth it. If you havent been to any of these place it is a must...the history and architecture of these places are awesome and surrounding towns are fun to explore. The White Cliffs of Dover were cool and worth the trip.

This was a really good tour. Plenty of time at Leeds Castle to see everything. Cliffs of Dover a nice picture stop--would have been nice to have a few more minutes to wander thru some shops. Canterbury was great.

This trip provided a wonderful look at Leeds Castle which has an interesting history of restoration and recovery. Canterbury was special for its historic association with Thomas aBeckett for those who are into it. Dover was a short stop and one must hope for good weather to have views of the cliffs. On the whole a good trip.

We were fortunate to tour the Leeds Castle during the Festival of Flowers. The state rooms were adorned with beautiful floral creations, what a treat! My last Canterbury trip was 47 years ago after college on a student budget and no guide, what a difference!!! In my opinion, guided tours are the way to go.
