Lunch in the Cotswolds from London

London, United Kingdom

Escape London's crowds for a day trip to the picture-perfect Cotswolds for lunch. You'll visit a region that is forever England, seemingly unchanged by the modern world and famous for its beautiful villages and rolling hills. There will be time to visit quaint villages such as Burford before enjoying a fabulous two-course lunch in a traditional English hotel restaurant.

Start your day trip from central London and travel to Burford in the Cotswolds, where the town’s magnificent high street features every variety of Cotswold stone. You'll have time to visit the town's small tea houses before continuing to Bibury for a short walking tour around the village.

Lunch beckons and what better way to satisfy your hunger than with a fabulous 2-course lunch in the heart of the Cotswolds? The hotel restaurant boasts a spectacular oak-beamed ceiling and a huge stone fireplace bearing supposed witches' marks, and serves a fabulous range of traditional food, including classic bread and butter pudding for dessert.

Continue to Bourton-on-the-Water in the afternoon, and stretch your legs during a brief 1-hour break. Then, journey onward to your final stop at lovely Stow-on-the-Wold. Use your free time in the village to explore at leisure and scout out the charming cafes, souvenir shops and photo-worthy limestone houses that line the streets.

Leave Stow-on-the-Wold in the late afternoon, and travel back to Victoria in central London where your tour finishes.

This was a wonderful opportunity to see probably the most beautiful countryside outside of London. The tour was perfect in every way. A trip to the UK made especially nice with an opportunity to visit the Cotswolds. Our tour guide was wonderful.

Lovely trip even though it was snowy. The luncheon of the fresh trout farmed right there was an added bonus. Our guide Lucy was great!

Tour of Cotswolds was very good. Guide Lucy an archaeologist was very knowledgeable. Only complaint is that the coaches don't have on-board toilets as most do in the US. That made for a dash for the public toilets at each stop.

Excellent trip! Our tour guide was David and he was the BEST tour guide ever! He was so knowledgeable and shared so much information with us and stayed with us and guided us to make sure we got back to our bus on time. The meal was great and the location beautiful!

Very enjoyable and well organized tour. Tour guide Lucy was pleasant and Martin was a very good driver. Bus was clean and comfortable. Lunch was very tasty. Choices were trout, ham or vegetarian stew. Wish we had been made aware in the pre tour correspondence that no hot beverages were allowed on the coach because we had just purchased coffees inside the Victoria coach station prior to boarding. also be sure to arrive early if you wish to sit with your travel companion on the journey.

The sights were okay. However it was not worth the time and expense in my opinion.

Very interesting tour. We had a great day seeing lots of history and beautiful places. Our tour guide, David, was very knowledgeable and fun guy to be with. As well as coach driver. Great time.

Amazing tour! Finally I have visited Bibury and the other 3 nice villages. _br/_ Given the public transport is not very convenient for Cotswolds, I think this is a very good tour, taking people straight to some of the best villages. The tour guide was very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I managed to take a lot of nice photos during the trip, although i think the time we were given to spend in Bibury was not long enough. _br/_ The lunch in Burford was good. The only thing was the bar where we had lunch was a bit small, and crowded. There was a long queue for toilet after lunch. But that's a minor issue.

All in all a nice trip. People in the Cotswolds were lovely and there are some nice shops. Lunch was executed efficiently, as if the head waiter at the Swan hotel couldn't wait to have the job done of everybody having their lunch. I didn't like his tone of voice. Driver was lovely. The guide didn't have lunch with us and just waited for us to finish. The guide was knowledgeable about the tour, but more interested in talking to the person next to me on the coach, who was Australian, when I tried to strike up conversations. I sensed some bias there.

We had an excellent time on our visit to the Cotswolds. Carol, our guide, imparted a wealth of information on us and I learned much about the countryside people, plants and animals. The villages were lovely and quaint, and lunch was very nice. It was the quintessential English experience.

Enjoyed our day in the Cotswolds. Frankie our guide was pleasant and informative, and had a good sense of humour. We never felt rushed at any of our stops. Lunch was adequate - we were asked to choose between trout or ham before arriving and were served rather quickly. This day tour is a great way to see some of the beautiful countryside if you're in London for a few days.

The day trip to the Cotswolds was lovely...........our guide, David was just amazing! He connected well with the group telling us various facts and history. The several villages were quaint and inviting.. So beautiful countryside........I could just feel the history characters roaring thru the countryside on their huge horses! I would totally recommend this day to any visiting tourist!

Was not overly impressed with this tour, although the guide was very informative and very helpful. The lunch was a big let down as it certainly not meet the expectations of what was described. The pie was mediocre with a bit of pastry on top of a very small amount of meat nothing like the steak and ale pie I had tasted a couple of days previous as well as it was only warm.

Many people were on Groupon on this same tour as me paying less than half of what I paid. What we received was discounted just as the groupon price. Lunch was at Cotswold Arms instead of Swan Hotel. The beef steak I had was just a few pieces of beef in stew. The pastry that came with it was so hard, I couldn't break it apart. Might be the huge crowd and they couldn't quite manage. We went Bibury first instead of Burford which was a bad idea as Bibury looks better with the afternoon sun on it.

This is a good tour but getting to the Cotswolds takes 1 1/2 hours or so if traffic is good. A freeway accident can add considerably to the time. So plan on a 12 hour day if not more.

Tour in general was good, Lucy was very professional and seemed very knowledgeable. We were temporary inconvenienced at the Swann Hotel when only one place setting was available for my wife and I the hotel restaurant management quickly setup and prepared a table for two afterwhich we enjoyed a well prepared lunch. We would also suggest that the tour operater consider using a bus with a restroom.

I bought this trip for my parents to go on with my Aunt and Uncle who were visiting from aboard after seeing such great reviews. _br/_ I was disappointed to hear that while they enjoyed the scenery, there was definite room for improvement. _br/_ Firstly, the coach was not comfortable and had less leg room than most planes. The guide did not take into account that there were passengers who had difficultywalking and so had a lot of trouble keeping up with the speed at which he was walking, missing out on the explanations etc. While lunch was of OK standard, again because of the difficulty with walking there was no room left for the party of 4 to sit together by the time they had arrived. Please also be aware that the fish option is not a fillet -but a whole fish, which can put some people off. On the whole I did not feel that taking all of this into consideration the trip was good value for money.

This tour was wonderful!! Our guide, David, was very informed and shared wonderful stories, factoids, and knowledge with us. We were picked up on time at our hotel, the tour left as scheduled and the itinerary gave us a glimpse of four wonderful Cotswold towns. I especially liked Bibury and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Swan Inn. The people on the tour were from many countries and that added to the experience greatly. At our table at lunch were people from Sweden, Malaysia and the USA. I would very highly recommend this tour....and for me and my friend with whom I was traveling, this was definitely in the top 3 of our experiences over a two week stay in London.

I gave it a 4/5 because it looks all the same after the first stop. But it is really cute, overgrown, charming, and low-key tour. Great lunch!

It was a wonderful day outing to the countryside. Very superb driver. How does he fit the bus into these tight road so expertly?_br/_ The choices of towns were just enough and just long enough to enjoy without tiring of them. The very informative tour guide walked those of us who wished to go, to the back of a church where we saw an amazing door that inspired Tolkien to include in his Lord of the Rings trilogy. Loved that. Beautiful ancient churches, quaint shops._br/_ I want to live there!_br/_ Loved the day! Thank you!

I recently visited London with a friend and we booked a one-day tour with Premium Tours called Lunch in The Costwolds. It was by far the highlight of our vacation in England. Our guide was Denise who was very passionate about her role as her guide to The Costwolds and landmarks along the way. Everyone had simply the best time and were all so glad we took this trip out to see such a remarkable part of the English countryside. The highlight of the trip was lunch at The Swan where we were treated to fresh trout from the local trout farm! Unforgettable in every way, and I highly recommend this tour and Denise as the tour guide.

We really enjoyed this tour. The small villages we visited were everything we had heard or read about and the people so friendly and welcoming. Such fun to have a drink in the oldest pub in England. Can't wait to go back and stay longer
