Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London
USD $125.00

Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

See some of England's famous towns and castles on this full-day trip from London. Visiting Oxford, you'll enjoy a city walking tour and see the elegant university colleges. Take a private tour of Shakespeare’s Schoolroom in Stratford-upon-Avon, and explore medieval Warwick Castle with its waxwork displays from Madame Tussauds.

After a pickup from Victoria Coach Station, travel by coach to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit the birthplace of William Shakespeare: one of the greatest writers in the English language. Take a private tour of Shakespeare's Schoolroom before it opens to the public, and enjoy a school lesson included with your tour. Then, enjoy some free time to explore the market town that’s home to the theaters of the famous Royal Shakespeare Company. A river winds its way through the town past Holy Trinity church, where Shakespeare is buried. There are half-wooden buildings which date back to Shakespeare's time, including the cottage of Anne Hathaway, who he married in 1582. After exploring, enjoy lunch in one of the town’s many cafes or restaurants (own expense).

Continue from Stratford-upon-Avon to Warwick, home to Warwick Castle. With a history dating back over 1,000 years, the castle will take you to an era of banquets, battles and royal splendor. After entering, your guide will leave you to explore independently. Listen to an introduction to the historical site from Warwick Castle’s history team, and then explore the site at leisure. See the waxwork displays from Madame Tussauds that are showcased at the castle, and see and hear of the Earl of Warwick's preparations for battle. Then, perhaps take a look at the ghostly dungeons where prisoners were tortured.

Then travel to Oxford, a city that boasts one of the world's greatest and oldest universities as well as some of the finest architecture in Europe. See it all on a walking tour, and learn all about the colleges themselves, with their ivy-clad stone walls that protect the beautiful chapels, halls and libraries.

Then, simply meet your guide back on board your coach to travel back to central London.

Disappointed that I was not given enough time to roam around Oxford. The guide has been giving long history lesson in which I was not very keen.

Amazing tour with the best guide (David) and bus driver ever! David was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the UK. His insights made the trip exciting! The bus driver was a safe driver who kept us on time and even went out of his way to help us learn how to get back to our hotel

A longish day ,but very good ,the guide was good ,maybe a little pricey .....but ,yes certainly worth at least thinking about . We had nice weather in mid September ,which helps, you're dropped off where you started the trip ,should you wish.

I loved loved loved Stratford. The time there is interactive and unique. There was a market going on in the town and there wasn't time to participate, but that was understandable. I could have spent all day there. Warwick Castle is very commercial. The building is imposing, but knowing what I know now, it is not a must see. We took the Tour on a weekend and were not able to enter the buildings at Oxford, something I would have loved to do. I would love to see these tours focus on just two locations and give you more time for each, however, given the structure, I felt this tour gave more time at each place than most.

We thoroughly enjyed the tour and our guide, and felt the time given to each location was just about right. Warwick was described by some as a Disneyland, but wher else could you eat inside a real castle albeit a weak lunch. Shakespeare's school was a real experience. Would recommend this tour.

We would rate the trip at five stars! It started out at the Victoria Coach Station which should not be confused with the other two Victoria stations and the bus station was confusing to a newbie, but the Premier Tours folks at gate 19 were well organized. The tour consisted of three 1 1/2 to two hour bus trips between activities and then 1 1/2 to two hours at each site. The tour guide, Ann Marie, did an excellent job of explaining and guiding us and, in general, made the trip more enjoyable. Some may think it was a long time on a bus, but it didn't feel that way and it was interesting to see some much of the countryside.

A very enjoyable trip but a bit too much for one day. We loved Stratford-Upon-Avon. We visited the house where Shakespeare was born and lived for many years and the school he attended, with a mini lesson from a teacher. I would have liked to have seen the New House that Shakespeare bought after his successes in London. Warwick Castle was stunning, but it is being run by a group including Madame Tussaud's and felt a bit like a Disney exhibit. I did not enjoy the rooms with wax people and recorded conversation, but my companion liked them. The interior and exterior views were amazing, lots of opportunities for great photography. By the time we got to Oxford we were already tired, but the excellent tour guide was extremely informative as we walked through this ancient university. Loved the trip, but in future I will take trips that focus on only one or two sites for a younger visitor, the trip would be much less exhausting - probably 5 stars. The tour guide pointed out sites of interest on the bus trip in both directions and arranged for drop offs at several convenient places.

The tour is very good and the guide John very knowledge about everything, the time is correct and the bus confortable, the driver Martin is also very good._br/_ The visit to Shakespeares house and school, Warwick Castle and Oxford worth every penny spended and the day was wounderfull._br/_ If you like to see medieval places, this is one of the trips I recommend._br/_ A lot of people talk about the comercial side of Warwick castle, but all revert to conservation which make possible for us to visit

These were destinations that were repeat visits for us. Oxford felt quite rushed and it is not as compelling a visit as Cambridge, in our opinion. Additionally, those who wanted to see the Hogwart's dining hall at King's College were disappointed because it was closed on the day or our visit. Warwick Castle was a fun excursion since it has been augmented by life-size characters from Madame Toussad's to help make the historical events at the castle come to life. At Stratford, the group toured Shakespeare's birthplace We did not, as we have been there several times and wanted to do something else on our own. and then had time for a quick lunch. The tour guide, Derrick, was excellent and provided a great amount of informaton about all of the stops, as well as about London and the U.K. in general.

We had a great time on this tour! Our guide and bus driver were friendly and helpful. The guide provided us with a lot of interesting and useful information which made our experience even better. Our one criticism is that the meeting sight at Victoria Coach Station was confusing and stressful. We were given a gate number with our confirmation and arrived a half hour early to find that the gate information read Paris and was filled with people and suitcases. Apparently the lines are shared with other tours and there were no signs or Viator representatives on hand to let you know that you were indeed in the right place. Eventually the destination board changed to the Harry Potter Tour and our tour was at a different gate. Maybe some clarification in the confirmation papers or someone on hand at the gate would be helpful.

I highly recommend this trip. It is well organized and our guide, Claudia, was very good. The day started at Warwick Castle which is an interesting, an very old, castle. We have just under two hours to spend there. Next was a visit to the birthplace of William Shakespeare. After an informative trip through his family home, we were given plenty of time to explore the town on our own. We arranged our own lunch there in Stratford and I enjoyed a very good lunch at a local pub. The last stop was to Christ Church, Oxford. Wonderful!!! The only negative thing of this trip is that because of the time change at this time of year, the sun went down at 4:45 so we left Oxford in the dark. Otherwise, the day was well worth it!

This would be a great tour with any two of the destinations, but I found it too rushed with the three. Warwick Castle is beautiful, but we suffered from unfortunate timing, as the entrance to the tower was closed after the trebuchet firing until 15 minutes before our departure time. Had I known it was a choice, I would have opted for the tower over the trebuchet. Still, the latter was interesting. A few of us did run up to see the tower, but it was a hurried affair. There is much to see outside the walls as well, so don't miss it. Stratford was interesting, but I could have used more time. You have enough to see the house, but not to wander too far. Oxford was amazing, with the Hogwarts dining hall and all the different buildings, but the time was too short. Our guide provided excellent commentary, but it slowed down our pace and I would have preferred to see more, but that is just my view. I am definitely going back to Oxford on my own next time to visit more thoroughly.

I had a great day with Irish John as our tour guide. He was a terrific wealth of knowledge. Fun and polite to all. He kept us on schedule too. Great locations I had not seen before. Loved Warwick Castle even with all the Hollywood enactments and scenes. They helped that era come alive for me.

I found the Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London to be a very enjoyable tour. It was leisurely, enjoyable and our tour guide seemed to be prepared and knowledgeable, our driver courteous. I would have enjoyed additional free time in Stratford-upon-Avon, as I thought it to be a highlight in the days events.

This tour was very nice - however be warned that the day starts off stressfully at Victoria Coach Station. However, once you're on the tour bus, you can sit back and relax. The tour guide we had was very informative and told us about each stop before we got there. It is a whistle stop tour, so you don't get much time at each location. We quickly made our way through Warwick Castle and ran back to the bus before heading off to Stratford-upon-Avon. We we're excited about this stop, but it was a disappointment. The Shakespeare museum was so packed wall-to-wall people that it didn't feel safe. It would have been nice to go see some other sites off the beaten track, like Anne Hathaway's house. The star of the show was Oxford. We enjoyed this tour so much, we want to go back and spend more time. Make sure you do Christ Church Oxford, because that made the entire tour worthwhile. Several people on tour who didn't select the option wanted to add it at that time, but weren't able to. We also got to skip the line and we made it in before the masses, which was nice. If you're a fan of Harry Potter, you will love this place. Parts of the movie we're actually filmed here and it was just a beautiful place to visit.

Great tour! Lucy was our guide and she did a splendid job! Because we were with the tour group, we were able to avoid the long lines to enter places. The only thing that could have improved the day, would be to spend more time at each of the sites. However, I realize it would be difficult to see all three I none day if more time were spent at each one. All in all, a fabulous, fun day!

for the first time visitor to London this is a must see - 3 landmarks worth visiting for a day. Tony and Nick did a great job of shuttling us safely and giving us great background info on each site. I would suggest spending a full day in Warwick as there was so much to see and do and see Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon a second day.

The tour guide was not very organised. He gave us the wrong directions to the places of interest at Stratford . The itinerary was changed but was not told at start of trip. To make matters worse, there were no time for lunch. The rain did not help. It was too rush at Stratford. Not enough free time at Oxford either.

Warwick Castle was good with lots of activities for adults and children alike. Whilst the tour guide advised it would be better to eat lunch at Stratford, we did not have time. I would commend having lunch at Warwick Castle - there are lots of small eateries there. Shakespeake's birthplace was good but not nearly enough time in Stratford to see anything else advised not to go on a weekend. Oxford was good but the tour guide lost me in the Christchurch University college and didn't get to do the guided walk in full

This was the best. We did several day trips and this was one of our favorites. We could have used about 30 more minutes at each stop....it was just a touch rushed along with in spite of that we would do it again.

A very nice trip that is obviously conducted on a tight schedule. The highlight for me was Statford-upon-Avon. Try not to miss the Shakespearean actors at the bard's home. Warwick Castle was kitschy, but cool.

James the tour leader was very knowledgeable. Bus driver did a good job. At Warwick Castle We did the free guided tour (45 minutes) and that only left us with 35 minutes to check out the entire castle, we were rushed. Next was Shakespeare's birthplace- meh. Lastly Oxford, interesting.

Trip was very good. Our tour coach was a knowledgeable person as well as very funny. Tea at Warwick castle was a cherry on top. However, timing to roam around in Oxford was very limited. Apart from it, I was also expecting to see some of the locations of Harry Potter movie scenes in this tour at Oxford but failed due to time shortage and non-inclusion of those colleges in this tour. Still, I would highly recommend this tour for 1st timer in UK.

Just not really a good tour. Day started off badly as our guide wasn't with us at the start stuck in traffic so we had to pick him up on the way. That seemed to through the day off as everything seemed very hurried and rushed. Had at most an hour a Stratford-upon-Avon which barely gave enough time to see Shakespeare's birthplace before you had to get on the coach again. Of the four tours we did while in London this was the only one I really regretted. Also, this tour was with Premier Tours and after having one of our tours with Golden Tours I think I like that tour company better.

Second time I took this tour and each time not enough time is given in Stratford on Avon to view the historic sites, eat a nice lunch and shop. In the colder months less time could be spent at Warwick Castle. Disappointed this time that Harry Potter info at Oxford not included this time as I purposely took my sister on this trip as she is a Harry Potter fan.

Most of Oxford was closed as I went on this tour on a Sunday. You can't go into Christ's Church on Sundays until 2 pm (which was well past when the tour was in Oxford). Stratford was lovely. Warwick Castle was horrid. Overly tacky, boring beyond the age of ten and over sold. There are better tours.

This was a wonderful tour that was fully worth the money. David was a knowledgeable tour guide with amusing vignettes/comments about various landmarks and sites on route. He used his university connections to get us into view one of the colleges at Oxford (Balliol) and made sure that everyone had time to get something to eat or to use the facilities. We were lucky to have outstanding weather, which made the tour even more memorable.
