Private Viewing of Stonehenge including Bath and Lacock

London, United Kingdom

Take an early or late-access tour of Stonehenge, and walk inside the UNESCO-listed stone circle without any of its daytime crowds. Choose from a morning or evening tour and explore the inner circle of stones — an experience only available to your group. Depending on the time of year, you might even catch the sunset or sunrise, too. This exclusive once-in-a-lifetime experience, which additionally includes tours of Lacock and Bath, sells out quick as tickets are limited; book now for an excursion you won’t forget!

Choose a morning or evening tour when booking, and then leave central London to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Stonehenge, free from its daytime crowds. Visitors arriving at the site during the peak daylight hours are not permitted to have direct access to the intriguing stone circle. However, your ‘private viewing’ tour enables your group to walk inside the roped-off circle, and admire the stones close up.

Hear the secrets and mysterious stories about Stonehenge from your expert guide, and experience the site at its atmospheric best! Depending on the time of year you visit, you may even be lucky enough to catch the sunset or sunrise; it’s sure to make your Stonehenge viewing an unforgettable experience. Read on for more details of each option; both tours finish with a drop-off at Victoria in central London.

Morning Tour:
After exploring the stones with your guide, travel onward to the nearby village of Lacock, a place often cited as one of England’s most picturesque villages. Hear of Lacock’s past as a Saxon dwelling, and learn about its use as a setting for many movie and TV programs including the adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Stretch your legs on a walk with your guide, and then head inside the George, a 14th-century pub, for breakfast (own expense).

Continue to Bath, a UNESCO-listed city in the county of Somerset. Enjoy a tour of the Roman Baths, visit Bath Abbey, and learn some more about Jane Austen, who was born in the city. If you wish, enjoy a short walking tour to see where the legendary novelist Charles Dickens lived and worked as a young man, and sample fresh cheese from a local dairy. Alternatively, make the most of some free time to explore independently.

Evening Tour:
From London, travel first to the city of Bath to explore the Roman Baths and visit Bath Abbey, as described for the Morning Tour. Continue to Lacock for a walk around the picturesque village, and then enjoy dinner at the George pub (own expense). Last, but not least, travel to Stonehenge for your tour of the stones when the day-trippers have left the site.

It was a cold day even in September but it was really special to see Stonehenge up close. Tour gave us plenty of time to wander around in Stonehenge after giving us a brief history lesson. We had plenty of time to take pictures and see the carvings on the stones. Very cool.

Loved this tour! The baths were amazing in Bath, though I would like to go back another time to tour the rest of this amazing city built of white limestone. You feel like you've walked back in time when you visit Lacock! Lunch in a 13th century pub was delicious and the walking tour around the town is very interesting and informative. There is a Harry Potter filming location here that is part of the tour. Finally, our sunset visit to Stonehenge was spectacular! It is a privilege to walk among these ancient stones and to learn the latest theory about how Stonehenge was constructed! A full day tour that is worth every penny!

Highly recommended. Pictures from the outer walkway will not do this justice after you've been able to appreciate the size of this structure up close. Breakfast at Lacock was great and despite the rain had a good time exploring Bath.

This was one of our favorite tours while in London and we recommend it. We opted for the sunset tour. Our guide, Lucy and driver, Steve, did a great job working as a team and providing information at all the day's stops: Bath, Lacock, and Stonehenge. While there is a lot of driving between these places, they did a nice job making the most of that time and it was better than other tours we've taken. In Bath, you are provided entrance to the Roman baths and a bit of free time. We recommend to go through quick, so that you have at least a bit of time to look at the city. It was a very nice place and wished there was more time to explore it, and this is the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars. Lacock was nice for dinner, we had the chicken and meat pie, which were fine. Those who had the fish said it was also good. We had a bit of time in Lacock to walk the small city. Lacock is one of the places they do a lot of filming for movies, so we also saw a few fun things! Finally, we went to Stonehenge, which was amazing. By far the best experience of our trip and absolutely beautiful. It was much colder at Stonehenge than the other cities so we were thankful to have brought warmer jackets. Overall, we highly recommend this tour, Lucy, and Steve.

We were so impressed by our guide, Julie and driver Richardo. The tour bus was on time and very clean. The tour was well structured with Julie giving narration throughout the day however we felt the tour needs to be about an hour longer. We would have liked more time in the gift shop at Stonehenge as we only had 10 minutes to buy and use the restroom so it was rush, rush, rush. The inner circle was unbelievable as you are right up there with the rocks and you are the only people as everyone else has left. There was 50 on our bus so it was not too big to have 2 groups go in to take pictures. It's amazing how big the rocks are in person so spend the extra money to do the inner circle tour. A bucket list memory for sure!

What a fantastic trip! Stonehenge was by far the highlight of the day. Our group was split in half and had 30 minutes to spend inside the stone circle. It was a dream come true for me to be able to see this sacred site this way._br/_ While the city of Bath was charming, I was claustrophobic inside the Roman baths. The small rooms were packed with tourists. I am normally not claustrophobic at all. The abbey was beautiful and definitely worth the trip. The town of Lacock was charming. The meal was adequate, but not especially tasty to our group of 3. _br/_ The tour guide Lucy was very knowledgeable and the drive Daniel was terrific. Both were very happy to take photos of us at the sites, but especially so for Stonehenge when they were with us the entire time._br/_ Highly recommended tour!

Absolutely worth the time and money! This tour delivers exactly what it promises - we were the very first group to arrive at Stonehenge, so we have amazing photos with not another person in sight! No crowds, no noise, just this amazing and unique spot in the world with only our group and a few guards in sight. If you care to see Stonehenge, see it this way.

Amazing tour and well worth it to get the inner circle access. Stonehenge was the highlight of the trip for my husband and 11 year old. When you are in the inner circle, you get up close to the stones and can really appreciate them. The Roman Bath in Bath was so interesting and we could have spent more time exploring Bath. Laycock is a charming village and the pub lunch was quite good We highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was wonderful and the tour was very educational!! This type of access to Stonehenge is definitely the way to experience it. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth the money. Bath and Lacock are beautiful. It's an early morning start, but I would highly recommend this tour!!

Worth every penny! Tour guide was quite knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed Bath, but would have liked about another hour to walk the city and enjoy the street entertainment. If you just wanted to see the baths and have a quick bite, it was perfect. Dinner in Lacock was nicely done. The visit to Stonehenge was wonderful and we particularly enjoyed the fact that our guide cleared us all out so that we could get our postcard photos. What a treat!

This tour was great! Worth every penny. Well-run and informative. It was made all the better by our tour guide Julie?. Her narrative was entertaining and better yet, she ran a tight ship keeping everyone on time. It made for a pleasant experience and maximized the value for everyone.

This is one of those moments in my life that I'll never forget. Stonehenge alone is worth the price of admission, but the addition of Bath and Lacock make this a truly unforgettable experience. There are 2 locations to choose from to be picked up and they're both centrally located so one is bound to be somewhere around you. The bus is nice and modern with working AC. Our guide Frank was there to answer any questions we may have had and even take photos for us. I would say the morning tour is the way to go because you're there before Stonehenge officially opens so our group were the only ones there. Paying for inner circle access is worth it because you're literally right there next to the stone formations. After Stonehenge its off to Lacock for breakfast at a pub and then the city of Bath with entrance to the Roman baths. There was even free time to walk around the city of Bath. All in all an amazing tour that was very well organized that I would recommend to anyone.

Wow! Very lovely, the countryside was extraordinary. Being inside the circle was very moving. Bath and Lacock were charming and a hint of the Cotswolds beyond was tantalizing.

As the tour was meant to be, we were able to access the inner circle unlike later tour groups or visitors. The centre was still closed for this purpose. The guide was very very knowledgeable and the driver provided a comfortable ride throughout. Stonehenge being a UNESCO heritage site, the guards can be very strict on the visit._br/_ The Roman bath was nice tour location but due to timing, you can either walk around Bath or the Roman baths. There no time for both. Not even time for an ice-cream after coming out from the Roman bath._br/_ The guide was as said very knowledgeable on all points of interests while touring around Bath and Lancock indicating it to us. Highly recommended for the Stonehenge inner access part.

The morning tour was worth every penny! The tour guide was very informative. Could have used more info on Stonehenge- but we got great pics! Breakfast was well organized and delicious. We did not realize what a great town Bath was.

Awesome day trip. Definitely worth the money and early rise time to have an hour at Stonehenge before it opened and the crowds came. You really do get to walk in the inner circle. With the rising sun and the mist I got some beautiful pictures. Our tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and breakfast was quite tasty and filling. We had about two-ish hours at Bath but after the tour through the Roman baths I had about an hour to explore. Would definitely recommend, thank you!

Absolutely incredible tour! Going inside the circle of Stonehenge is much recommended, compared to the basic. To stand next to something that is Thousands of years old is an amazing feeling. If you did the basic you just walk around them at a distance. I did the AM in tour and it is an early pick up. Around 5 am or so, because you go there before its open to the public. To see it with all the mist around was a highlight of my life. Only your tour group will be in the Circle. Be warned this sells out fast. Book it months in advance. Bath and Lacock are just the icing on the cake. You get breakfast in Lacock and then the afternoon in Bath. Bath is an amazing roman city. It be worth vising a lone, but it was great afternoon tour for me. Loved it.

This tour was the cherry on top of our amazing London experience. Worth every penny we paid. Our tour guide David and driver were absolutely awesome, so kind and knowledgeable. I did this tour in the end of March 2017 - we started at the City of Bath - they had our tickets for the Roman Baths ready to go and were able to get right in because we were in a group. We were free to explore the Roman Baths at our leisure and then do a little exploring in the City of Bath - I wish we could have spent a little more time in Bath - but we had a schedule to keep up with - totally understandable. After bath we went to Stonehenge and went right up to the stones, beyond the ropes - right inside the circle! Our guide David had so much information to provide - it really enhanced the experience. We finished in the city of Lacock and had a delicious English dinner at the George Inn. It was a long but very fun day!! Would totally recommend this tour if you have a day out of your London itinerary.

If this is a place on your bucket list to visit then the Inner Circle is a must. Although you can't touch the stones, to be eyeball close to them is enough. Our guide Lucy gave us detailed information during our 20 minute visit inside the stones and didn't cut anything short even though it was a cold windy day with rain sprinkles. Our trip included Bath which was amazing to be walking on stone where Romans walked in 50 A.D.It was very crowded with bus groups on a Sunday. Too much to see for our short time there. To get the full experience of the springs and the city probably need a full day. Overall a wonderful tour experience.

Review by:   Kristin H,    November 2017 Review: 4 star rating: Recommended
I gave this 4 stars because my 16 yr old daughter called it the most boring part of the whole trip. We went on a Sunday in July on the sunset tour. Bath was incredibly crowded. We had to wait for admission to the Roman baths for about 20 minutes. Once we were inside, it was difficult to navigate. Unless you are a huge fan of history and ancient ruins, you might want to skip the Baths and explore the town instead. Due to the crowds, we did not have time to do both. The next stop was Lacock. It was not crowded and quite quaint and picturesque. A nice break after the chaos of Bath. The dinner was efficiently organized and the food was of decent quality, leaving plenty of time to explore this cute little town. For Harry Potter fans, there are a few movie filming locations here including the abby, which was closed on the Sunday evening we were there. Might want to investigate further if that is a place you would like to see. Stonehenge was great. Our tour group was the only one there. When we arrived the giftshop was still open for us. There is a shuttle between the visitor center and the stones. Upon arrival, our group was divided in 2 and each got about 20 minutes in the inner circle. It is enough time to see it up close and take lots of pictures. During your 20 minutes when you aren't allowed in, you get to see it the way most tourists do. One in our party was in a wheelchair. You can see most of the Roman baths from a wheelchair, they have elevators and the employees were helpful with navigating. The area immediately surrounding the bath is covered in very uneven cobblestones which could be difficult/impossible for some wheelchair users. Lacock was not a problem. There are not sidewalks everywhere, but there is very little traffic so wheelchairs can use the street to get around. Stonehenge was accessible, but the inner circle would vary based on the level of moisture they had experienced. We were allowed to take our chair in because it wasn't too wet.

We absolutely loved this tour. The highlight was the inner circle of Stonehenge, but Lacock was a lovely town. Bath was interesting too, but I wish we had more time in the town.

This trip was worth it for the afterhours tour of Stonehenge alone, but adding Bath and Lacock with it was amazing! There was so much history in Bath and the pub in Lacock was awesome! But the high point of this trip was definitely getting to enter the inner circle of Stonehenge. Standing so close to those huge formations was awe-inspiring! I had just enough of a signal to Facetime with my family back home and they couldn't believe that I was that close! It was just so cool!

A rare privilege! I would normally pass on any kind of group tour but this appeared to be the only way to see Stonehenge close-up with an after-hours guided sunset tour with access to the inner circle. Any doubts I had were quickly set aside. Our tour guide, Lucy, was a trained archaeologist who was both knowledgeable and a lot of fun.

Inner circle access is the only way to see Stonehenge and made the early morning get up time well worth it. Wish we would have had more time to eat and tour while in Lacock but was a beautiful town and gardens.

Great day. Able to see sights outside of London. Being able to walk amongst the stones makes enormity of the stones and the history so much more vivid than if had seen them from a 100 yds away. Loved the tour in Bath. Was a great day.

Loved, loved, loved being able to go to the inner circle of Stonehenge. I teach art. It was everything and more than I expected and dreamed about. The reason I gave this a four star was because we were hurried through Lacock the amazing village that hasn't changed and Bath was very interesting but so crowded in the museum that I got claustrophobic and had to leave. Lacock is where they have filmed many historic movies and I loved it, but the few minutes we got were just not enough.

Great trip for Stonehenge --Bath and Lacock, meh. I am an art teacher and the trip to Stonehenge was very high on my bucket list. Our guide was an archeologist and knew all the extra info that I sponged up. Being that close was totally worth the extra money. I would not have been satisfied with just seeing the stones from a distance. Walking among the huge stones was a spiritual experience.

Enjoyed this whole long day. Bath was interesting and lunch at Lacock was tasty. Tour Offered very early in the morning or at sunset. We chose sunset. Inside the circle was impressive- these rocks are big! _br/_ Only wish would be hotel pickups or more/ closer pickup sites- we were staying over 1/2 hour away.

Actually being among the stones was amazing. It felt surreal. The only thing that would make this trip better would be going to the Stonehenge Museum. A friend of mine went there and said it added a lot to the Stonehenge experience.

Definitely worth it to get up close for the best view. Was disappointed that the tour guide waited over half an hour for people running late which then made our time at the site less than the usual time frame.

This was one the highlights of our UK trip! The bus was really comfortable and Lucy and Steven were fantastic. The private viewing of Stonehenge was simply magical the eery fog helped. Lacoc and Bath are must-see, Avenbury was the big surprise. I found it even more fascinating then Stonehenge itself. I would love to return to all those places. Overall, great value for all you get to see.
