Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath Custom Day Trip from London

Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath Custom Day Trip from London

London, United Kingdom

Uncover three of the English countryside’s most famous treasures on this customizable day trip from London. Visit the quaint town of Salisbury and see the tallest spire in England; wander amid ancient intrigue at Stonehenge ; and explore the UNESCO World Heritage–listed spa city of Bath. Explore each site independently or upgrade when you get there for a guided visit — the choice is all yours. Entrance to any mentioned attractions are at your own expense, but transport by luxury coach and pickup from select London hotels are both included.

Begin with a pickup from Victoria Coach Station. Hop aboard a luxury coach and plug into your state-of-the-art Vox headphones so you can hear your guide’s commentary as you journey into the beautiful English countryside.

After a 2-hour drive, arrive in the charming Wiltshire town of Salisbury, known for its 750-year-old cathedral that boasts the tallest spire in England. Set off to explore independently, or upgrade for a guided tour of the cathedral with your guide.

Enter Salisbury Cathedral and soak up the history and grandeur of one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. Then, visit the church’s chapter house, which displays one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta. Spend two hours perusing the cathedral, exploring the captivating town and having lunch (own expense) at your leisure before boarding the coach and drive to your next destination.

Traveling even further back in time through the rolling Wessex landscape, you will arrive in Stonehenge. Who dragged these massive stones to this lonely plain near Salisbury 5,000 years ago, and why? These questions have haunted the minds of centuries of scholars. You will have the opportunity to walk around these magical stones and contemplate the landscape in which they were erected so many centuries ago.

Next, return to your coach and travel 30 minutes to the UNESCO-listed city of Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture. Take in sights such as Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Circus and Assembly Rooms.

Should you wish, upgrade to enjoy a visit to the Roman Baths, the best-preserved public baths from the Ancient Roman world, beautifully restored during the Victorian era. Hear from your guide about the source of these famous hot springs and discover the baths’ uses by the Celts and Romans. Alternatively, enjoy free time to explore the city center at your own pace.

When the time comes, settle into your seat aboard your luxury coach and relax during the 2.5-hour journey back to London.

Thanks to David and Nicki, the tour was conducted efficiently and with interesting insights into the places we visited. Great way to get an overview of multiple sights in one day!

Viator cancelled this tour on us by email the day before it took place. They said that not enough people had signed up for the tour. But they stepped up and offered us an alternative tour with some upgrades. We ended going to Stonehenge, Windsor and Bath. So it all turned out fine, although the bus was packed. Viator seems to be accommodating to it's customers.

After getting to the Victoria coach station and meeting up with the guide and then been told I had to pay an additional 30Lbs for entrance fees that immediately set things download Hill for the rest of the day. Tour guide was just OK Stonehenge was disappointing. Bath was great

I booked this tour because I could pick and choose the tours that I actually wanted to see. When I arrived on the bus the Tour Guide is telling me to see all 3 attractions is 30 pounds. He did not ask me what tours I would like to do, he just expected for me to do all 3. I had a problem with that. I was looking to explore the towns especially Salisbury. They have a beautiful cathedral but I wasn't interested in seeing it. I think the Tour Guide shouldn't just assume that you are on the Tours for the attractions especially when the title of the tour say "Custom Day Trip".

Olivier's knowledge of the sites and history was excellent. We learned so much on the tour. My only suggestion would be to have more time to stop and take pictures. It was a little rushed at times. Otherwise, well worth it!

i'm glad I called the day before to check on my reservation because they went ahead and cancelled my tour and did not notify me of that. They wanted to put me in another tour that was similar but it did not include Bath which is where I really wanted to go. They finally did put me on another tour but it was more expensive! The tour was also an English and Japanese tour so it I felt like the guide did not say all she could have.

Very good tour with a knowlegable tour guide. Only issue was that we felt we needed a little more time at each stop. Even an extra 15-30 minutes. Especially at Stonehenge.

Though it was a long day, it was relaxing and enjoyable. Especially like the independence of the tour – the ability to go at your own pace and explore on your own.

Our trip was very enjoyable. The weather in September was great! I think the best part of the trip was the city _br/_ of Bath. Absolutely beautiful, and the church in Salisbury was awesome and the history behind it was very interesting. My main reason for the tour was Stonehenge, but it was not the highlight sad to say. But I would recommend going. It's a once in a life time kinda thing and you can at least say you went._br/_ Debbie Hester_br/_ Louisiana

we had a problem with the bus that the hotel told us to take and meet up with this. we told they would wait, and when we got there. they sent us to the wrong area. we did finely found the right place, they did let us go on a half day tour to Stonehenge. I felt like we were jip it on what we payed for.

The 3 sites that the tour includes are just fabulous. Our guide gave a lot of interesting information prior arrival to each place which made the visits even more significant. However, in my opinion, not enough time is given at each place. I really felt like I was rushed from one place to another.

The Portuguese guide that I had for this tour, Jose is very comical and friendly, and I was very satisfied with the places we were taken to. Bath is beautiful, would definitely go there again! Also, Jose's English is excellent! Thanks for the great tour!

I enjoyed this tour but you need to be aware that it does not include admission into any of the sights, and why would you go on a tour and not see the sights? It cost us an additional $100 USD per person the day of the tour just to get in to the sights which we were not expecting at all. Basically all you are paying for is transportation to the places and the guided tour of Salsibury, so be prepared to pay admission at every stop along the way.

Very disorganized with the pickup at the bus stations and tickets at each site. Tickets should have been issued ahead of time and given to the tour guide. Our guide was great and the sites were been on wonderful, but the disorganization of the stops at each site made it a not great impression on our first visit to London.

My family loved all of the places we took on the tour. We would have liked having more time in each of the areas but especially in Bath. They were all beautiful places.

Tourguide was great, but we all felt the info provided online was misleading. Example, "add on" for Stonehenge said it was for an audio guide, in fact it was to get in to see Stonehenge. Said it was a 10 hour day, leaving at 8:30. We almost bought tickets for a show that evening, good thing we didn't! Told when we boarded we would get back about 8 or 8:30 - that's 12 hours! Just be honest!!

We learned so much from Phil, our tour guide. Love the tidbits he told us about anything British. The whole trip was very comfortable and smooth. All three places were well worth it.

Our tour guide was delightfully funny and knowledgeable. I just wish he spoke a little more while we were driving. Salisbury would have been boring (It was out 3rd tour in one week and I was cathederaled out) had it not been for a darling pub called the Lazy Cow, where we enjoyed their home brewed ale and watched an hour of the Olympics. It sucked having to make our way to Victoria Station (our cab could only take us half way and we had to walk/run 2 miles) to meet the bus, but that was due to the Olympics and not the fault of the tour company.

Bath and Stonehenge were my favorite out of all my tours by far. Very beautiful and the tour guide was extremely friendly and lots of fun. She was also a weath of information.

Stonehenge was interesting but you could opt not to buy the tickets to go in as you view it from the outside. Did not enter the Salisbury church but went to eat at the church cafeteria instead which was not bad. Bath was an extremely nice place to visit, nice scenery and view and totally not English looking as well.

Amazing tour! We loved every minute of it and our tour guide was wonderful! My only complaint would be that there just wasn't enough time in any of the places. I know that in order to drive and get to each of these places you have to stick to a very strict schedule and it was a long day as it was so I don't blame the company. The only way to get more time would probably be do this trip in 2 days on your own. I loved the tour though and would do it again in a heartbeat!

The actual trip part was amazing. The sites and weather were above expectation. When on the bus, however, our tour guide told me that my brother and I would have to pay to get in to these places. I let her know that we had already paid online, and she explained that this was just to get us on the tour bus. To experience the cathedral, walk Stonehenge and go into Roman Baths, we'd have to pay an extra 50 pounds ($80 USD). We were already on the bus, so had no choice. I'm still not sure if that was legit, or I got hosed. Either way, something to be aware of! Other than that, the trip was a delight. I'm writing the company to see the relevance of the extra fees to "Enter" these things.

I had a great tour. I did all the add ons except Salisbury cathedral. Bath was great, in Salisbury, I looked around and shopped and Stonehenge was amazing. The tour guide was very well educated and gave great information that was helpful and interesting. I wish we would have had more time in Bath though, that is my only compliant. Overall is was an amazing trip!

A very pleasant trip with complete information from the tour guide. However, I wished more time was allocated in the trip for Bath. Since Bath is the last destination in the Day tour, I suggest one should at least stay a night over in Bath. Hotels can booked on your own and one can opt to leave the tour and stay a night in Bath to enjoy the place more. Buses are always available so there is no worried as how to get back to London the next day. However, please do your own research on the frequency of the buses.

Lovely comfortable informative trip, probably only criticism would be to forget about Salisbury and make the time in bath longer.

The tour was great in that we got to see everything that is listed. However, the whole time we felt rushed though everything. We're not really ones to dally around and take a lot of time to look at things so this was definitely not the trip for those who do. We literally ran back to the bus in Bath and only had about 40 minutes at Stonehenge. This sound like a lot of time to see rocks, but the walk there and back, plus not being able to finish the audio tour was not enough time. The website is very deceiving saying you are able to see Stonehenge from outside the circle or upgrade for an audio tour. The only way to see Stonehenge without standing back a good distance behind a fence is to pay to go in- even if you chose not to do the audio tour (which is included in entrance price). One area of information that would be helpful is for the site to let you know to bring your own food. There simply is not enough time to eat plus see all the sites unless you don't care and really hurry and grab something to go. My husband and I walked into the cathedral and out without the tour so we could get a very quick lunch. Over all kind of pricy for still having to pay entrance fees and hurried along all the while. Good on the upside to see many things quickly in a short period of time.

This was a great tour although I would have liked to spend more time at Bath - 1.5 hours was not enough. It wasn't worth it to pay the tour guide for a tour of Salisbury cathedral - you can check it out for yourself with a self-guided tour. Also, didn't get a chance to check out Salisbury town which was a pity (due to only 45 minutes at that location)

The tour met all my expectations beginning with pickup at the hotel. Our tour guide was excellent. His degree in English history enabled him to share insight and deeper knowledge of the sites on the tour - a tremendous value add. It was entertaining as well.

It was really nice. Our guide (Richard) was very knowledgeable and pleasant. It would have been nice to have had more time in each place, but we were on a tight schedule due to traffic concerns getting back to London. The coach was comfortable and the driver was good too. Highly recommended!
