Stonehenge Inner Circle Access Day Trip from London Including Oxford and Windsor Castle

London, United Kingdom

Enjoy exclusive access to the inner stone circle at Stonehenge on this day tour from London, and choose from a morning or afternoon departure. Most visitors to Stonehenge are not allowed to enter the inner circle — they have to simply admire the site from the outside — so this is a truly special tour. Combine this experience with visits to the historic town of Oxford and Windsor Castle — home to the Queen of England. All entrance fees are included.

Stonehenge
Enjoy an unforgettable start or end to your day in London with an exclusive trip to Stonehenge – that most mysterious of ancient sites. Choose from two tour times to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

What makes this tour so incredible is the access you’ll receive to Stonehenge’s inner stone circle, which is normally restricted to visitors. This day tour ensures a unique viewing up close to the magnificent monument. Your guide will give you a full brief on the many mysteries that surround Stonehenge as you take in the atmospheric landscape.

This day trip from London also includes visits to Oxford and Windsor Castle.

Oxford
Soak up the local culture on a walking tour around the historic town of Oxford, and see the Oxford Colleges, where notable figures like Bill Clinton, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis received an education. Also check out the Old Bodleian library, a working research library that dates back to the year 1602.

Windsor Castle
Your day tour will continue to Windsor Castle, home of the Queen of England. This majestic castle is the scene of 900 years of British history, and generations of the British Royal Family have conducted their business here. See the formal State Apartments in all their lavish glory, as well as St George’s chapel — home to the Order of the Royal Garter, made up of 25 knights of the British Empire.

Unfortunately one of us got sick and we weren't able to make this excursion. We did notify the group before departure but there was nothing they would do to help us out. Will try this again another time.

Absolutely FANTASTIC TOUR! TOTALLY worth the money to go inside the circle. Our tour guide was awesome! He was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I would have loved to have more time at Windsor Castle, we felt like we had to run though it as fast as we could and not stop to really look around. We could have easily spent another hour or 2 there, but we understand it was a long tour. Long lines from lots of tourists compounded the time issue. Stonehenge was AMAZING!!!! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!

Enjoyed this tour a lot. We began in the bus from a central spot in London -- it was a big bus, and over 40 people on the tour. Our tour guide was Oliver, and our driver was if I remember correctly Moe. The first stop was Windsor and the Windsor Castle. The tour did not include tickets to go into the castle, but we had ample time to tour the castle if we wished we did, and it was very cool. The town itself is a beautiful royal town. Next up was Oxford. The tour around the Oxford college area was thorough, but truthfully my favorite part of Oxford was being able to get a Guinness in The Eagle and Child pub, where JRR Tokien and CS Lewis would meet along with the Inklings -- amazing to imagine them both there in the genesis of their brilliance. Third was Stonehenge -- and it was every bit as powerful and wonderful as we hoped. Having inner circle access is absolutely worth every penny. We were able to spend time at the stones after the closing of the circle to the general public -- so instead of crowds, it was just the 40 of us, being able to be in the inner circle. You cannot touch the stones, but you can get right next to them. Then the journey back to London about 90 minutes. The tour began at 11:30am and we were back in London around 9:15pm. For those with walking challenges, there is a lot of walking on this tour, and quite a few stairs as well. Oliver was a friendly and knowledgeable guide, and we learned a lot and laughed a lot too. I recommend this tour, and also to bring finger snacks since it's a long day and also a jacket and very comfortable shoes.

Excellent trip. Oliver Simmons was our tour guide and he was marvelous-- full of interesting information about each location and local history and lore. We were able to get up close to the stones-- well worth the price-- and also early in the morning. Although our day was a rainy one, we still found Stonehenge magical. The tour of Oxford was fantastic and the time at Windsor was a great way to end the day. Oliver had us on the bus early and back in London on time. Our hats off to a wonderful bus driver--Jay-- who was kind enough to wait for those of us who tended to be a few minutes late to the bus at each stop and made excellent time. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants an efficient and informative way to see three amazing places in one day.

Charlotte was an excellent guide, and our driver Mark did a great job, too. Our tour was on a very cold day when we even got a bit of snow...but it did not interfere with our tour. We made the best of it and still had the allotted time at each attraction. Stonehenge is amazing and we had it all, including the inner circle, to ourselves on the morning tour. Oxford stop was more interesting than I expected, as Charlotte had a great deal of interesting information to share. At Windsor Castle, Charlotte walked us in and then let us tour at our leisure, using the recorded tour info provided by Windsor Castle. All in all, a long but enjoyable day!

Getting inner circle access is the only way to see Stonehenge. Very great experience. It would have been a waste of time to view Stonehenge from behind ropes. Being able to walk among the stones was priceless. There was not enough time in the gift shop._br/_ Windsor Castle was OK. Oxford was good and time was appropriate. Also found out tickets would have been 40 cheaper booking directly with Evan Evans tours.... Oh well, it was still work being able to see the Stonehenge inner circle.

Definitely worth the early morning start to be able to walk among the stones. Everything was well organized and maximized our time at Stonehenge. Be prepared for a long day and lots of walking at Oxford and Windsor. This was a great way to see a lot of must see sights in one day.

Up close and personal with the Stones!!! An unbelievable and unforgettable tour. Don't miss this one - it's worth the money. We were paired into small groups for the inner stones and the outer stones . Not to be missed!_br/_ The stop at Oxford could really be omitted. A college town with college students walking around ._br/_ Would have like to spend more time at Windsor Castle. _br/_ Overall Stonehenge is the winner !

It was worth every penny being able to walk around Stonehenge up close and see it and take pictures. You had plenty of time there before the crowds came to see it. Windsor Castle and Oxford were great bonus too. Highly recommend it! Sells our fast book early!

So much more amazing than I even expected. Definitely worth getting up early to be the only ones at the site and to be able to be standing in the stones. Bring warm clothes, it gets chilly out there and there's no cover.

This was a really great day. We started at Stonehenge early in the morning and had access to the inner circle. This alone was worth the trip. Very few groups are allowed to have access to the inner circle. From there we were taken to Oxford University and saw all the different universities there. The last stop was Windsor Castle. We were able to walk the grounds and also had access to the castle. It was a very full day but well worth the trip.

Turned out to be a great day at the 3 sites but we got a scare at Stonehenge. When we arrived we were informed there was a mix up by the Stonehenge staff and they'd booked two private tours at the same time. Our tour guide Rhys, who was extremely knowledgeable and personable, worked with the staff and was able to solve the problem and we were able to get into Stonehenge at sunset. Because of the doublebooking our tour was cut a bit short but were still able to spend significant time inside the circle within inches of the stones and taking pictures. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the private inner circle tour of Stonehenge and the visits to Oxford and Windsor although Windsor visit was a bit rushed. Given how much that is spent on all the other aspects of travelling, spending for this kind of tour and the access it provides is icing on the cake.

I have been duped by the local operator in one of my tours booked with viator, I had planned my visit to uk late summer and booked several tours around London via viator, I had a tour for stonehenge planned at morning 5:15am so that I can get an early morning visit but even when I turned up at the departure point there was no one there, my voucher and email both said to wait near an enterance to a hotel, there was no other directions or instructions owing to this we missed the bus which actually came on to the other side of the hotel and left. I did try calling the local office for the tourer evans evans but they didn't open till 7am, after there office was open they told me they couldn't help which was fair since I booked with viator but they offered me seats on there later tours if I agree to pay the whole amount again, I obviously denied that and approached viator instead to ask them to move my trip on later today since the directions where not correct and nobody to help early morning. At the end of it I didn't get any help from either viator or evan evans and hence the sad review. I hope no one gets duped with them in future like i did.

The Stonehenge Inner Circle Tour is the best way to appreciate this iconic Landmark before the crowds obscure your photo opportunities. It is a wholly different perspective, like stepping into a mirror and looking out. I highly recommend it.

The tour was led by Rhys from Evan Evans Tours - he was fantastic! Very informative, and engaging. He kept the tour interesting through the long day. With the right amount of information but not overwhelming with facts and figures - unless we asked for more in depth details, of course. The trip was nicely broken up on the way to Stonehenge with stops at Oxford and Windsor Castle and providing us with a little break and also a nice very brief visit of 2 fascinating sites.

Stonehenge was great, although there were no instruction at first that we are not allowed to bring food to the bus, so we threw away our food._br/_ Windsor Castle was great too, although the map/route to go wasn't clear enough and we can't really enjoy most of it._br/_ Oxford was bad! we didn't even get inside to any of the universities not even one so we were just wonder around for an hour or so between the universities.

This was my favorite trip in London. Standing in the center of the Stonehenge circle was so cool! Being able to walk around by the stones was so special. They only allow small groups of 20 people in the circle for 30 minutes at a time. Our guide was so nice and took pictured of people with their own cameras. The buildings in Oxford were nice, but the streets were so crowded with other tour groups and tourists that it was difficult to see everything. Windsor Castle was beautiful.

If you want to see Stonehenge, there are several day trips to chose from, but you MUST choose this one! Yes, it's an early morning, but it is completely worth it! You arrive before it opens to the public and get to walk around inside the stones for a whole hour. It is INCREDIBLE! Our guide was Charlotte and she was WONDERFUL! I was torn between the other tours that went to Bath instead of Oxford, but I was very pleased with the visit to Oxford. We were about 10 minutes into our walking tour of Oxford with Charlotte and the sky literally opened up and I've never seen rain this hard in my life. The entire group was soaking wet, but Charlotte made it a fun experience and no one complained. In fact, nearly the whole bus was well adorned in new Oxford University jumpers and hoodies! Windsor Castle is absolutely lovely! I've read other reviews that stated they didn't have enough time at the various stops, but I disagree. There was plenty of time for us to see everything we wanted to. I highly recommend this tour and if you get a chance, specifically ask for Charlotte!

Great tour, great guide, and really good access to everything. HOWEVER, like most attractions in Europe these days, the security at Windsor Castle was daunting, and even thought our tour guide gamely/valiantly attempted to push us to the front of the security lines, it still took our group more than an hour to gain access to the castle. This, of course, made a long day even longer, as our tour guide attempted to compensate for the long delays by adjusting our schedule.

Great tour!! It was worth every penny. The tour was well organized and the bus was very clean and comfortable. Our tour guide Daniel was great and made the day very enjoyable! Having access to the inner circle at Stonehenge with no one there but the others from our tour group was awesome! We went on the afternoon tour at sunset and it was amazing! Don't hesitate to book this. You won't regret it!

Jose and Ricky were the best. We had a great trip. Be mindful of the time at Windsor Castle and plan accordingly. You do pack a lot into one day but it's worth it. The Inner Circle was the best part of the trip for me. Worth it to pay the extra for this.

Fifty of us tourists had a wonderful whirlwind tour of Windsor Castle, Oxford University and the Stones at Stonehenge. Our leader, Anthony Matthews, was knowledgeable and entertaining, providing tales from history interspersed with his own experiences from his military and student life.

Charlotte was out tour guide and she was very knowledgeable of each site visited. It was a wonderful experience offsets the early morning to see and be in Stonehenge up close and with only 25 people in our group. An unforgettable site. Oxford was great and I will recommend to stick with the tour instead of wondering on your own. We got some very cool information on sites as the door and street lamp used as inspiration in Narnia, and the sculpture used as inspiration for headless Nick in Harry Potter, and so many other facts that could easily be missed without a tour guide. I would have like more time in each site, there is never enough time to see everything but overall it was the best :

This was an amazing trip. Our tour guide, Daniel, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and despite some difficulties with weather and traffic, he managed to get us everywhere we needed to be with good humor. Although one probably books this tour for the Stonehenge experience, Windsor Castle and Oxford proved to be very interesting. And Stonehenge was everything we wanted it to be. Being able to walk among the Inner Stones in small groups was an experience I'll never forget. My friends who had been there before and not been able to get close were extremely jealous! Highly recommend.

Review by:   Lisa L,    August 2016 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
I hate not giving higher ratings but I need to be honest about this experience. I have been to all 3 places before but was touring this time with my niece. I thought it would be a good little intro tour for her. We did the am departure. Getting to step inside the rope at Stonehenge was phenomenal. It really is a very different perspective from within vs walking around. The tour guide was not clear on timing here and that proved to be quite problematic, though. Once back on the bus, we then were told that we would not be visiting Christchurch due to a closing. I understand that sometimes the colleges close for tours but we should have known about it beforehand. They did a last minute scramble , calling from the bus, that was completely subpar. The tour guide had the audacity to tell us while standing in the dining hall in Brasenose College which was about the size of my London hotel room that all of the dining halls looked the same. Right... and that's why all of the Harry Potter fans were so thrilled to miss out on ChristChurch. We also barely had time in Oxford. We had 30 minutes which meant a rushed sandwich grab, run to the loo and quick walk back to the bus. It was very stressful. Last stop was Windsor. Because it's high season, the crowds were huge and therefore had to choose between standing in line to see Queen Mary's Dolls' House or missing the bus. These tour companies should know better and should adjust the tours based upon season because its winds up being a complete waste of money. For 150 per ticket I expect better. The tour company can't control the crowd but they can do something about experience.

Amazing time at Stonehenge. Absolutely a great trip there and would recommend the Inner Circle Access to anyone. Oxford was also a great time, but very abbreviated. Windsor Castle was a bit of a nightmare - crowded and full of people who didn't want to let you move around them.

Windsor Castle and Oxford were a very educational part of the tour. Considering the 3 legs, just enough time was spent to get a feel for the history and importance. Stonehenge was my favorite part and to have inner circle access was awesome. The guide was helpful and knowledgeable. The driver was excellent. Would do this trip again.

There was too much jam-packed into this day trip. As a result, there was only 1 hour to run through Windsor Castle this could take an entire day. Same thing with Oxford. I understand that with travel time and the focus of this trip being on getting to Stonehenge for the inside access I was not aware that this was the focus until we got on the bus, there is not a lot of time for the other 2 stops. The problem is, my focus was on Windsor and Oxford. So, either the tour company should be more open about the tour OR the tour should be less ambitious. Schedule Windsor OR Oxford and Stonehenge do 2 of the spots, not all 3.

This was worth every minute of lost sleep and every dollar we spent! Stonehenge is spectacular from afar, up close it is so much more than that! The tour guide was great and very nice to everyone! Oxford was fabulous too. My 11 son was even kept interested with Harry potter references. My son wasn't feeling great by Windsor Castle so we stayed down at the park and I can't report on that but we found little boats we could rent and spent that time happily rowing down the Thames!
