Thames Hop-On Hop-Off River Cruise

Thames Hop-On Hop-Off River Cruise

London, United Kingdom

The best way to see London's sights and splendor is from the deck of a boat. With this hop-on hop-off pass you can cruise up and down the Thames, alighting at your leisure, for a whole day.

The Thames weaves its way through London, with history around every bend. Aboard the hop-on hop-off River Red Rover you'll cruise in comfort and style past London's world-famous landmarks. The boats have open upper decks for great sightseeing and comfortable lower saloons. Relax and enjoy the views, onboard commentary, light refreshments and full bar service as London's famous sights glide by.

The river cruise departs every 40 minutes from Westminster Pier, Waterloo Pier (near the London Eye), Tower Pier and Greenwich Pier (near the Cutty Sark). With just one ticket you may hop-on or off at any of the piers as often as you like throughout the day. The shortest trip between piers lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, while the full round trip takes approximately 2.5 hours.

We would never miss an opportunity to take the Thames River Cruise! It is relaxing, it's a chance to rest your legs after busy London walking excursions, and it's absolutely wonderful to see the buildings and architecture along the water...fully explained by booklets with maps, and if lucky, an on-board narrator! The price is super affordable and because it is a hop-on Hop-off, you can customize it to your own timetable. There is a snack bar, so a little bag of munchies and cold drink or cup of tea make the cruise that much more enjoyable!

Tour is great, HOWEVER...Viator does NOT give you a ticket. You get a voucher for a ticket and have to wait in line with everyone else to get your day ticket. As I did not understand that, I waited twenty minutes in line and missed the boat and had to wait another 40 minutes for the next one.. No biggie, but I wish I knew

Awesome! Great travelling at the end of October. Loved the commentary, found it humourous and anecdotal loved just moseying around Greenwich Village. Had lunch and hopped back on and got out at St. Pauls. Lovely day.

This river cruise, with the crew's commentary, was both enjoyable and informative. It provided a good general overview of the bridges and historic sites along the river with the convenience of our scheduling we had a 24 hour pass. It was a great introduction to London, for us!!

Great way to experience all the major sights. We used it to just view them firstly then when we decided what we wanted just jumped off. They ran frequently enough to not be waiting long for the next boat

Outstanding is a poor word to describe this cruise._br/_ We had booked for this cruise while still at India, and the process of getting the vouchers exchanged for tickets and boarding the boat was pretty painless. The boat itself was a spotlessly clean and well kept craft. The commentary not the recorded one, but a live commentary was sardonic, with dry and self deprecating humor, and very very enjoyable. We did not do the hop-on-hop-off portions, opting to stay with the boat through the downstream run, and for a part of the upstream run. The history of the buildings, the waterfront pubs and quays, the bridges, and the amazingly built apartment blocks were entertaining and informative to learn about. _br/_ Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to see London from a different perspective

Loved the hop on hop off boat. Wish they stopped at more piers other than 4.

Was 40 min wait in between boats. Very crowded and people not listening to announcements to allow others to take photos

We joined the boat at Westminster Pier and travelled to Greenwich, in glorious sunshine, and enjoyed the commentary provided by one of the crew! It was a great way to see London and to learn some interesting facts about this great city._br/_ We were very lucky and saw Tower Bridge open to allow a tall ship to pass through!_br/_ Our journey back was just as much fun!

We ended up not taking the Hop On, Hop Off as it became too late for us to use the Voucher after travelling from Canada, thus hopefully there will be another time that we get a chance to experience the Thames River Cruise..._br/_ Can not really rate this Cruise but in order to Post I gave it a 3...

We LOVED this cruise and our day in Greenwich. The tour guide on the boat was a hoot! And local to boot. He was really a boatman, not a tour guide. Everything about this day was great.

We did not allow much time in Greenwich Village so my advice would be to plan to spend two to three hours there. It was a beautiful day to be on the boat and the ride up the Thames was fun!

We did this tour in conjunction with the London Eye. The river guides were very funny and full of historic points. We were_br/_ cracking up with laughter, the guide could have done stand up comedy, he made the trip worthwhile.

It was an amazing experience, thanks to the weather. But this couldn't have been memorable without City Cruises. They made it the best! _br/_ The live commentary is pretty neat. Nice witty jokes to keep the people involved and makes the environment lively. _br/_ Nice bar and quick snacks at the basement. Timely services and schedule, detailed information at the front desk, ground staff and boat crew._br/_ I would recommend this highly to all

This was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon in London. We were visiting for one day only and this boat trip satisfied all our interests. The boat was safe and comfortable. The guide was very funny and entertaining and enhanced the experience of the ride. The sites we saw were impressive and gives us ideas about London's history and sites to see more off should we have the time.

Enjoyed taking our 6 year old granddaughter and 3 and half year old grandson on this trip. However, be warned that if you book on-line and have an e-ticket you will need to have it exchanged for tickets at the booth on Westminster Pier. We arrived and there was the boat waiting. We had been waved down to the dockside by 2 members of staff who checked our e-ticket only to find that it was not accepted to get on board. My husband had to go back up and queue to exchange for tickets and we missed that boat and had to wait half an hour. We enjoyed the trip and sat up aloft down to Greenwich learning some interesting facts about the riverside buildings. We enjoyed the naval museum and found activities for young children, but I think older children would enjoy it more, especially boys. We also looked round Greenwich market and then back to the boat with another enjoyable trip back to Westminster. Limited refreshments are available on the boat so its a good idea to take a few snacks.

I thought this was a fantastic way to see the river. The boat has a snack bar with drinks and snacks. While you cruise a guide tells you information about all the areas along the river. They give you historical facts. You can hop on and off at any of the stops or stay on for a complete round trip, you can ride for 24 hours from when you exchange your voucher for a ticket. I found it to be very relaxing.

This was a great way to see different parts of London. I probably would never have gone to Greenwich on my own but it was a really cute village that I enjoyed looking around. The tour went to: Westminster pier by Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye pier, the pier by the London Tower bridge and Greenwich pier. If you are lucky enough to get on a boat where the crew turns off the audio commentary and does their own then you are super lucky---they were quite funny.

The tour and tour guide was great but the times of the tour were very prohibitive. They started late at 10am from Westminster, then the last boat to Greenwich was at 2. We couldn't make full use of it from the Greenwich dock where we stayed.

We really enjoyed this tour. A great way to see London and an easy way to experience different parts of town. The tour guide was very funny with lots of interesting tidbits. The boat was clean and really large so you didn't feel too cramped. The hop-on hop-off part makes it convenient to use the cruise as sort of a taxi while you take your time getting around.

Tour was great, but it took 2 hours to get to a site to board. Would help to know which public transports to take. We ended up walking from London Bridge to the Tower and back. Had very little time to hop off.

Great trip on hop on hop off .Entertaining commentary in an accent straight out of fools 'n 'orses. Would have expected some pecuniary advantage from booking on line .. Not the case... Same price. Advise taking the earliest trip to allow time for stop offs. Suggest walking the route the next day... Start with theTate Modern which is amazing and walk past Tower bridge then on to The Mayflower pub for lunch. A Three mile stroll.. Rotherhithe station is 3 mins from pub onJubilee line for return trip.

We were lead to believe that this river trip would stop at various locations along the river where we could get off if we wanted and explore then get back on. In fact, it only stopped at one stop where we got off had a lunch and then got back on and it proceeded back to the start with no further stops

Our boat had a great first mate that really gave good information on London and history of the area and the river. Got off in Greenwich and spent the afternoon there. Wish we would have had more than one day

This was a fun way to see London and was our first activity after an overnight flight. It was very relaxing and a The commentary was good and the ride was comfortable although the boat did get a bit crowded for some of the legs of the tour. Signage was a bit unclear-- we had purchased vouchers online and for the first leg we just showed the print out and were admitted onto the boat, but for the 2nd leg, after waiting in a long line to board we were sent back to go wait in another long line to turn in the voucher and get an actual ticket-- this could have been communicated better. All in all a good way to see a lot of London in a very low-key activity! We rode from the Tower all the way up to Greenwich and back, stopping for sightseeing, drinks and food all along the way.

Saw more of London on this cruise than we could see walking the city, due to the MOBS of tourists that flood the city in August. Great way to see the mixture of architecture from the water. Lovely way to spend a few hours.

Confortable, punctual, and interesting. The guides that entertain the visitors are a mixture of a professional actor and a sailor that is, they are able to invent the most improbable stories and make them sound realistic. This makes the trip even funnier than expected!

Great way to see the city from another vantage point. Got off at Greenwich and walked around for a while. Took a bus back to the tube station and back in to town.

When the crew member took over the commentary, it was much better. The automated commentary was repetitive and included so much advertising. Also, when booking, you are given a voucher. You must stand in the ticket line with your voucher for them to issue tickets. It was extremely slow moving line. We felt we would have been better to wait until the day we wanted to do it and then stand in the line. We really didn't save any time or aggravation by pre booking the cruise.

Not worth it. It's crowded and hot. Lots of corny jokes. Take the commuter ferry would be easier and more relaxing.
